I saw the old Showbiz. I spent many saturdays there from 1984-1987. I am now 41. Born in 1982. This feels like a dream. Thanks for uploading!

I might have crossed paths with you there unless I was with Mom at Shoney's or Dad at the Dreamland Flea Market on the other end of Tunnel! It's like a dream indeed. Thanks to the uploader likewise.

YAY Tunnel Road! So many memories of riding through the tunnel, lights on, cars honking. Wow this takes me back.

We moved away from Asheville in 1981, but this is much the way I remember Tunnel Road. Many of these buildings have since been torn down. I visited Asheville again in 2017.

Grew up in Asheville. Lived at 22 Kensington Rd in Beverly Hills. Remember when Howard Johnson’s was built. Loved there ice cream. Going downtown through the tunnel was a trip. My Dad repaired National Cash Registers and going out to eat at Tingles was a great family experience.

As a long time resident of the area it is interesting to see this . Many of the things on Tunnel road prior to the tunnel are still there today, like the Mountaineer Inn, the Burger King and McDonald's. The biggest change is to the Asheville sky line on the west side of the tunnel. So many buildings added that it is almost unrecognizable compared to the way it looks today. I remember seeing the Mountaineer Inn during my first visit to Asheville in the 1950s. The Inn was actually built in the late 1930s. Some things never change.

I was born at Mission in the late 50's, we moved east in '69. I hated moving away but sadly my old neighborhood area is unrecognizable. Hendersonville Road has become a concrete jungle.

Someone just bought the property yesterday. I hope they don't tear it down. It's an icon of old Asheville

This was recorded a few months before my spouse and I honeymooners in Woodfin, a bit up the road. We came to Asheville several times a year for many years thereafter and eventually moved there in '08 and lived there for a decade. We love Asheville, but all things change: we are back east again and in Roanoke now. Our recent revisit to Asheville was a little sad as many things we enjoyed are now gone.

I remember when it was built, it was a Lum’s Restaurant. They were famous for their hotdogs steamed in beer. So good!
