Another example of good soul music as real as is gets nick Ashford and his wife met in high school and from there built the legendary group they made many unforgettable songs and also helping Teddy Pendergrass make his return to the stage after a car accident that crippled him to a wheelchair but never lost his blessed voice in singing love songs! We recently lost Nick Ashford to a battle with cancer sadly missed but never forgotten I grew up on this awesome old school music and thank my parents for allowing me the opportunity to hear it and let it come alive in my own spirit no time in history will there ever be another R&B music as did these great singers and performers God bless them all!!!

I remember listening to this song over and over, not understanding a single word as a child but feeling so happy and safe when hearing it. It is one of the reasons I excelled at studying the English language. When I was a child, there were so many beautiful songs that called to me but that I could understand only on an emotional level because English was not my mother tongue (and no one in my family actually spoke it well enough to explain the lyrics to me). This song must have been a big hit in West Germany in 1984/5. I can recall its popularity among a group of German holidaymakers as they selected it almost every night on a restaurant's jukebox, in Majorca, in the summer of 1985. It was a family restaurant, and perhaps the jukebox selection was geared more towards soulful music. The restaurant had an idea. But frequently today eating establishments have no idea: and play stuff in which the words are indecipherable even if you could make them out.
