@tvTrueLoVe6 жыл бұрын
@@BeeKee404 True, but they really did play the wrong song. It was her 2nd song of the night and the person in charge of playing the vocal track screwed up by playing the 1st song over again, which was why she stopped and did her awkward dance. Of course Ashlee is responsible for lip synching in the 1st place, but she never would have received that much backlash had they played the correct track. Considering how common lip synching was at that time, she really did get treated unfairly.

It wasn't just that. It was that everything about her was clearly so fake and manufactured from that black hair to her wearing a t-shirt that said "punk". Nothing about her seemed real and she seemed just as ditzy and unaware as her sister. MTV was trying too hard to make her happen. Plus her songs sucked. Let me fix this for her.......... "I had to lip sync that last performance on SNL because my vocals deteriorated and weren't up to par for singing live that night due to medical reasons. Where I messed up was blaming my band for that ill fated night. I was 19 years old and didn't know how to own an error of that magnitude in front of millions of people. I was just so humiliated and terrified. And let me correct a wrong that I should've done years ago....my band deserves oustanding recognition till this day for rising to the challenge. Ray Brady (guitar), Braxton Olita (guitar), Zach Kennedy (bass guitar), Chris Fox (drums). Like they say, the show must go on and that's something they emboddied". A statement like that would set her free and release her from this nightmare she's forced to re-live over and over. I can tell by her body language that the whole thing still torments her soul. Unfortunately, there's narcissism with people who make it to the top and it's that same narcissism that prevents them from humbling themselves and releasing themselves from the agony and torture they so badly wish to escape.

But most artist anyways have 2 good albums and by the third one they start to die down. Same happened for Gaga...
@edwardcalloway26613 жыл бұрын
I remember that performance actually. I tuned in to watch it when her new album " I Am Me " came out and I bought the album to support because I loved her back then and still do now. She did really well the second time it's sad they don't have the footage except only on the SNL site because it would disassemble the narrative her career ended after that which wasn't true. Even after the Orange Bowl I Am Me was number one a year later. When Ashlee released the third record that bombed and she became pregnant and focused less on music. That's the truth but the media had a narrative at the time they pushed. She did have acid reflux and I think with a good vocal coach she could have improved alot more because she had a promising voice her technique wasn't the best and the media was never kind to her to be honest but she seems happy now and I love seeing that.

And what’s even worse is the fact that, here she is, years later, taking all of the blame for something that was obviously not her fault. It’s probably what she just came to realize that the fastest & easiest way to move on past that subject, every time it comes up, is to just say it was all her fault. That’s sad. I mean the little jig and leaving the stage didn’t have to happen if she’d have just gotten a little angry instead of embarrassed and made a stand right there and then and just waited a few more seconds. First thing she should’ve done was stop those guitar players from extending the mistake any longer and give the sound man, monitor guy (or whoever was running the recorded vocal tracks) a few seconds to get his shit straightened out. Yes, the lip-syncing cat was already out of the bag but they could’ve performed the proper song. Even better yet, tell them to give her a live mic or just turn on the one she had. Just sing it for real to turn around what everyone already had in their minds now. The whole “my band started playing the wrong song” lie was just unreal. Like all 4 or 5 of those guys in her band, all forgot they just played that song a half-hour ago… the only other song that was already played that night at SNL.🤔

Doing a lip synch it's a must do for tv, just a couple of big companis would actually pay a sound engenieer to set it all up, unless it's a big start they need to make sure they sing. All the "she was sick" or was "scared" or the "chord problem" are mere excuses, she was probably forced to do playback, the problem comes when she did the Orange Bowl thing and she couldn't hit a single note of the song she did, then making her "persona" feel fake and not relatable, anyone who saw the lip synch and then the terrible performance would, understandably, be like "oh she always faked it" Bon Jovi had a playback fail of his own on live tv, after a piano intro he took his time to get to the mic as if he was singing live and the voice started before he even took the mic, he just laughed and no one cared because he was already known for being able to sing live. She had bad luck and a bad respone, which could been recommended by her label, like "do not take the blame, blame the band, the sound guy, the show everyone but you" now that she actually takes the blame no one cares, it's too late.

She literally has footage of her going to the doctors twice over the week beforehand, and the doctor telling her not to perform. Bassist played correct song (Autobiography). Drummer played the wrong song (Pieces of Me). Drummer is responsible for turning on the lip-syncing vocals. He turned on the wrong one. (Pieces of Me). Ashlee and Bassist are confused. Guitarist joins in with the wrong song. (Pieces of Me). Bassist says Fuck It and switches to the wrong song (Pieces of Me). Ashlee is more confused. Ashlee gets out of the way. Band rocks on. Later, Ashlee uses her 5 second goodbye to say "My band started playing the wrong song" in order to sum up "Earlier this week I was at the doctors about my voice, who recommended i dont sing live. But I'm 2p and naïve so when my parents pushed me to do the live SNL performance, I went for it. During the dress rehearsal my voice started giving out, so we switched to lip-syncing. But we also changed the order of our two songs for the night. So when the drummer accidentally started to repeat the first song that we already performed, and then the rest of the band joined in, I had no idea how to respond. I'm sorry!"

Britney Spears haven't sung live in years, it's not fair how much doing playback once damaged Ashlee's career
@johnsmi2135 жыл бұрын
I think her walking off the stage just showed she wasn't a genuine performer but someone who MTV manufactured after her sister's reality show was a mega-hit. A real musician would have been embarrassed but immediately apologized for the mishap and got things back on track to perform the right second song.
@GodsFaveSim5 жыл бұрын
You can't compare Ashlee to Britney. Britney might lipsync but she's a performer with real stage presence, people give her a pass because they know she's still gonna put on a great show. Plus she didn't always lipsync and she does sing along with the tracks at her shows the last 5 years, no she's not belting but you can actually hear her voice when she's not focusing on the choreography.

Any singer who woke up without a voice would have done the exact same thing she did. Performing on snl was a big deal back then and no one would have let go of that opportunity on the day of the show. They've all sang along with the track playing at some point anyway. It's pretty much the norm. More singers probably should have had her back. Maybe some did and I just don't remember. I do remember that she got absolutely torn to shreds for that though.
