Joan talking about being an all-rounder in high school then chilling in college is how I'd explain my student life too because everyone is too smart I can't be bothered to keep up. Maybe I should do a YT channel too haha it looks fun
@airari243 жыл бұрын
I had a similar experience, but the difference is that in college I realized I preferred to focus on what I was deeply interested in and what made me healthier & happier (in terms of academics/extracurriculars AND friends). So it wasn't that I gave up on keeping up with others because they were too smart, but it was that I could validate myself as smart and capable and worthy and I didn't have to keep up with others to prove that (to myself or others). This resulted in me "chilling out" LOL

I'm sure, the way Joan worked hard as a kid paid off a lot at high school and even now. Because the younger you are, the easier it is to obtain new good habits. So I'm not gonna pity her for being insecure in elementary school, because it actually helped her to grow as a person :P Also, I feel like a lot of "smart asians" are actually "asians with a tiger mom", so Joan did a really good job training herself.

The part Ashley was talking about during the "ghosting" with an idol sounds a lot like "breadcrumbing". He leaves little bread crumbs (texts and calls) to keep you interested but honestly, he just loves the attention. He keeps you connected and excited that there's potential for a relationship or "something more". People do this because of deep insecurity, hence why after Ashley mentions she cuts contact with him and he runs back calling and messaging to keep the breadcrumbing going. Also the fact she mentions that he did it to multiple people simultaneously gave it away. It sucks being breadcrumbed and not even having the chance of meaningful relationship for the very start, only to be strung along for someone's else's comfort and insecurities. :( hopefully you can google it further and understand it a bit more and be conscious of it in the future. happy dating everyone :)
@sakurazukamorisubaru3 жыл бұрын
I think "ghosting" means the person is just not that into you. That's all. And "breadcrumbs" is just a person being polite and avoiding any drama (or maybe being a coward and avoiding anything that makes them feel bad) I mean, whatever, there are tons of people on this planet. You don't have to like everyone and everyone doesn't have to love you instantly\prefer you to someone else they like more, so if you don't like that kind of behavior, you can just stop responding or become a distant friend without any romantic hopes.
@TokyoTones3 жыл бұрын
@@sakurazukamorisubaru I feel what you mean, dating is such a mentally taxing journey (i'm on it as well). Obviously i don't know the whole situation of Ashley's experience, but it sounds like he did both a mix of breadcrumbing and ghosting - sounds like a halloween dish lol. Ghosting is cutting off communication without explaining why - avoid calls, texts etc. Honestly, it causes so much long term resentment - you get angry at them and question your personal worth. Short term it's best to be upfront about your feelings - sure it's painful as fuck and difficult but avoids so much mentally and emotionally pain long term. I could be misinterpreting the situation wrong on such little information. Plus i'm also projecting my situation on this experience lol
@sakurazukamorisubaru3 жыл бұрын
@@TokyoTones I mean, if someone stopped talking to you, you can ask few times if something is wrong, but if they don't respond, than they just don't want to talk to you anymore. Doesn't matter why. Because they have a free will. You don't have to guess or beat yourself over it. If you just go on with doing stuff that is important to better your life (like working or even cleaning you room) it will save you a lot nerves. At leas that's my take on it. Good luck with your dating. :) PS Cleaning your room in a distress over relationships sounds like a joke, but it really works, even if you don't like it, seriously. Or doing exercises.

4:49 you didn’t start school “late”. You started at the right time so to say. This is because if your birthday falls between anywhere from September-December, you start school at the same time as the kids who were born the year after you were born. And September is a new academic year, so technically school would class you as if you were born the next year so hence you finished school in ‘10 and not ‘09 as the rest of the ‘91 babies as their birthdays fell between September 1990- August 1991, and they finished school in ‘09.

Around 18-19 minutes in: Ashley, you really are too tough on yourself. You don't have to be "interesting" for us to admire you! You're so down to earth and just regardless of your energy level or mood, you're still you! Monotony is part of many people's lives (basically those who work to live or study/work to have their needs covered). Don't feel pressured to change or only show certain parts of your life because of this! At the same time though, only do what's comfortable for you! No need to overshare if you don't want to and no need to push yourself unless you want to or feel/have the need to! Regardless of what you show, I think we all appreciate you and your class and chillness.
