A proper ballet bun should be extremely flat just giving a heads up. The bun is good for jazz and tap and stuff, but not really good for ballet.

It's not good to have your hair be wet while held up in a style. The reason is the hair is longer and fatter while wet. It will shrink as it dries and if it's held up in a style it can't shrink so the hair will actually start to break. After a while you can start to get more fly aways and things like that. I would recommend not using water and instead using some serum or hair spray after the style is complete for fly aways.

A 'perfect ballerina bun' does not require any bunmakers or donuts, whatever you call them. Just a neat ponytail and twist. Simples

A ballerina never ever uses a 'donuts/bun makers'' to create their hair bun. A bun for ballet should be flatish to the head to give a smooth elongated neck line silhouette. Checkout the many ballet videos online.
