Amazing video Ashley! So sorry you got mugged, but you made a good call and pressed on. I'm currently reading "How To Think Like A Roman Emperor" by Donald Robertson, the Stoic Philosophy of Marcus Aurelius, and much of that philosophy came out of Greece. Great stuff that stoic philosophy. I loved the color of the ocean in Crete, my son kayaked in Corfu back in the 90's and he said it was incredible! Thank you for the wonderful video! Sincerely, Ossie

Thank you Ossie. Yes Greece is a fantastic place, so much of history and storytelling came from there. Thanks again, take care, Ashley

Thanks to the inspiration of your previous videos I walked across most of Crete this spring and it was really enjoyable, thank you. Also having walked in Crete myself now it is amazing to see how you edited weeks of walking in just a few minutes.

Wow through Romanian no problem and mugged in Greece.. I once walked from the train station of my hometown amsterdam with a big backpack; that didn't feel very nice at all! You put in some great hiking. I too would have difficulty with roadwalking just to keep it pure. Thanks this was again a great report!

Hi Ashley - love your videos. Thank you for sharing your adventures. What time of year did you go to Crete? I am from Canada and thinking of going over Christmas - so I know to expect snow in the Mountains and will be ok with it :-). How were the accommodation choices in the mountainous parts? Which is was your favourite part of the trail and which would you recommend for a week of walking?

Hello Ashley what you did is awesome!You inspired me and I'm also planning to do the E4 route in Crete. Could you share a link of the site you found all the info for the route when planning?

Hi Alexandra. You can try e4crete.wordpress.com. I also used the 1:100,000 Anavasi maps of Crete and OpenStreetMap. Hope this helps, cheers 🙂

thanks for the video. how common were stream crossings/ponds or other potable water sources for taking drinking water in the mountains around olympus in the fall when you visited?
@AshleyGDean2 жыл бұрын
Hey, thanks for watching. My memory's a little hazy on that area now but I don't remember water being an issue. I filled up in Litochoro (in my accommodation) and I think there was plenty of water available in the refuge near the top. I think all the stream crossings were by bridge but I'm sure you could get down to the stream easily in places. I can only speak for the Litochoro - Mytikis trail though.

Hello,what is favourite trail section,in which country?In a meaning of pleasure of hiking with a beautiful landscape viewing.To not be too rough but in the same time being high?

Hi Stefan, thanks for watching. I'd recommend the Rila & Pirin Mountains in Bulgaria. The paths are well worn and signed with some of the best scenery... Lots of huts too 👍 kzbin.info/www/bejne/f6vac5auZtiSsNU

Were bugs a problem? Like sneaking into your tent, and I'd love to see you walk to Poland, or throught it to go more north, you might be somewhere else maybe more south of Greece or somewhere, put just a suggestion, have a great day and stay safe! Cheers -Jakub

Im walking from Albania to Athens when the border opens. I have a question, ive heard that wild camping in greece is strictly illegal? How did you sleep? I will probably still camp but just try my best to stay way out in the wild

Hey. I didn't actually look at the legalities, but camped without any problems wherever I went... you can't get in trouble if no-one sees you 🙂

Thank you for sharing Ashley! Truly inspirational video! Haha by the end of your journey in Greece you learnt about the gypsies, the ones who most likely stole your money in Thessaloniki. I am planning to hike the Peloponnese section this upcoming summer as I grew up in there. I'll contact you if I have any questions about the route. Best of luck!
