Hi Ashley, I'm playing catch up but I have to say I didn't want to rush that forward at all. Beautifully filmed my friend. You soldiered on and got us all there. Absolutely fantastic. I could see the predicament with the caterpillars. You don't want to kill any one of them and there were hundreds. I iamgine you found something soft to brush them away. Well, amazing spirit and scenery. All the best for the week. Mark

I really enjoy the videos. Are you planning anymore?
@AshleyGDean3 жыл бұрын
Thanks David. There's 10 videos in this series, but I'm planning on making more videos post-Covid, some of them involving hikes but unlikely to be anything on the scale of this series anytime soon. Thanks for watching

I have always fantasised about walking the E$ or a variant, mainly after reading Clear Water Rising many years ago, but also Patrick Leigh Fermour - it remains a fantasy

Clear Waters Rising is such a good book, I read it while researching the walk... and especially the Romania section. I only ever knew Nicholas Crane as the bloke off Coast before hand, now he's a big hero of mine.

Great great movies Ashley, thanks very much! May I ask how old were you when doing this 'walk'. I'm wondering if I'm not too old for it ;)

Hi thanks for watching! I was 33 & 34 on this hike... but I don't think you're ever too old :)

You think that i can walk 35km daily? I do 2 hours of Sport every day
@AshleyGDean6 жыл бұрын
Possibly... I read of lots of hikers who walk at that kind of pace... I don't really think it's the physical challenge of doing it, it's more the mental challenge of doing it day after day. Personally my daily mileage would usually fall between 25-35km (with some very long days up to 45km) which is what I find comfortable and enjoyable. It's all subjective so it's probably best just to head out and see what kind of distances you find most fun :)

@@AshleyGDean Im thinking of doing this, but how dangerous is it to travel alone? I know it's a small chance of something happening but I feel if it happens you're fucked?

Wow what an adventure! Pity about the Chartreuse.. i know the conditions up high in the Vercors can be really brutal no mater what season. I too am totally il love with that mountain range. Been there plenty.The smartphone isn't a friend of mine either on such outings. Unreliable crap! I use geoportail.gouv.fr all the ign maps are there ready to be printed!
@AshleyGDean6 жыл бұрын
spijkerpoes yeah I'll go back there one day I hope. I think the GR91 goes right across the range and looks great... Just won't depend on a smartphone again
