Big thank you to Squarespace for sponsoring this video and enabling me to continue to produce these videos - also for helping me to finally resolve and streamline my website situation!! Head to www.squarespace.com/ashleyharwood to save 10% off your first purchase of a website or domain.
This video shows how I turn a natural edge bowl in under an hour - starting with the log! I think this a great example of how fun and rewarding woodturning can be. It's a wonderful feeling to be able to start with something that would have been someone's garbage and create something by the end of the day - or an hour!! I hope y'all enjoy!
Also, Happy 4th of July weekend!!
Please note that this video is not intended to be an instructional video.

Beautiful piece! I love the natural edge. The natural edge is a great balance between art and nature. The grain pattern on this bowl is gorgeous. Great job.

I found fascinating, how so many master turner's have different methods of doing turning. Kent from Turn a bowl recently also done mulberry natural edge bowl and both have used surprisingly different amount of techniques. Wonderful work Ashley!

Amazing the way you worked w/ the wood as it released tension and the sides became more oval. That was an act of love. I hand forge decorative aluminum pieces and experience the increase in tension as the piece becomes work hardened.

Beautiful work, Ashley. There's a tune in Cajun music called la branche de murier which translates to the branch of the mulberry tree. It's sung from a guys perspective about his sweetheart that he lost, probably of his own doing, and how he cuts the mulberry branch down so he can watch her go by every day from his window and how much he misses her and wishes she'd come back to him.

Nice work. Great piece. Would like to have known more about the wood’s condition, green, semi-wet, dried. How you age it to keep it from checking. Also, how you finish them, oil, shellac, wax, urethane. Maybe you do it in other videos. I’m new to your channel.
