Hi Ashley, I so love your designs. The only thing that tops your designs is when you provide tutorials and explanations! That makes anything unknown or possibly intimidating so clear and so easy to tackle. I am never afraid to do something new when it comes to your designs because I know that if it’s in any way potentially difficult, you will have provided a demonstration of some kind, even if it’s not an entire tutorial from start to finish. You are so great at explaining and demonstrating new skills and, frankly, you are so kind to take the time to do these demos. I don’t think that most people have any idea of the time that you have to spend in order to make these videos. You do not do these things in one take and then after you are finished doing the recording of them, you still have to edit them. I am a graphic designer by trade so I have a very good idea of the time invested in what becomes that single video or that finished written design and instructions for your designs. So it is only with the most humble of intentions that I find it necessary to point out a very small mistake in the written instructions for this sweater. For somebody who is more experienced and/or for somebody who watches the video this is a very minor thing. But for somebody newer at knitting, this could be more of a stumbling block if they don’t watch the video. The video makes it very clear what must be done. This only applies to the Raglan Set-up Round, and only applies to sizes 5 and 6. The beginning instructions for this row are: “Slip BOR M, K 8 (8, 8, 8, 9, 9, 10, 10) STS for approximately half the back” followed by the first “PM, K1, P1, K1, P1, K1, PM” sequence for the raglan stitches. Every size starts out with an even number of stitches for the neckline so that every round of K1, P1 ribbing ends with a purl stitch and the new round starts with a knit stitch. The raglan stitch pattern continues with the ribbing from the neckline. So in order to properly start the raglan stitch pattern, it has to begin at a position where it continues in pattern with a knit stitch from the neckline ribbing. The only way for that to happen is that one must knit an EVEN number of stitches across the back. Sizes 5 and 6 cannot knit 9 stitches across the back and properly remain in pattern with the neckline ribbing. It has to be either 8 or 10 stitches. For anyone who watches the video this will become clear immediately. But for somebody who is only looking at the written instructions and who may not understand that you must continue in pattern from the neckline ribbing, this could be confusing. Like I said, this is very minor and easily corrected. Once again Ashley I so appreciate everything that you do both in your designs and most especially the time you take to provide videos. I hope that you are ever more successful as each day passes. I am always looking forward to your next design. And if you ever need a proofreader, I am your girl! I would also be willing to test knit. I am quite a few sizes larger than you are, and could provide input from that perspective (e.g., I NEVER wear anything cropped, and will always add length to make sure I cover my entire abdomen and rear end!).

Thanks for reaching out! I appreciate the kind words. So if you just shift the placement over one stitch (knit 8 or 10) to where you’re starting the round, everything should be fine. It’s just the placement of that beginning/end of round marker. I appreciate you taking the time to explain this and this is an example of how I’m not perfect even if things are edited, etc! Next time, feel free to email me (I don’t love to have the details of a paid pattern out there ❤). Make sure you’re signed up for my test knitting email list to get notified of my latest test knits!

@@AshleyLillisKnits I hear you and will do so if anything ever comes up in the future. I didn’t think that mentioning that one detail was revealing anything about the pattern design or I never would have done it. But I will certainly communicate by email going forward. ❤🧶❤

Thank you! You are an incredible teacher. I am waiting for a yarn delivery to make my second Winter Bluff sweater. I received many compliments on my first one. I think I may add German short rows following this video.

Wonderful! This is exactly what I need right now to rush through a couple of chunky sweaters for Christmas. It is so helpful to see all the complicated bits so I can understand them. Written patterns just don't always make sense to me on much beyond knit or purl. Lol. This is a beautiful pattern, too. Well balanced, not the extra wide oversized so many are now with unbalanced too skinny raglan shapings.

Beautiful it's seems too easy to make this raglan sweater but I think it's a bit difficult but have to try because I love it, well done 👏👍

Hi Ashley, I has always loved your designs, to be true all of your designs. Can I request you for some sweaters, cardigans to make in straight needles ? Here we don't have thick circular needles. If only possible. And keep on making such beautiful designs. Much love.❤

That was a wonderful lesson, so much information in one video. Thank you for all your hard work. Do you have a video where only the German short row’s are explained?
