The trick to cutting onions so they dont make you cry: after the slice that halves the onion, remove the outermost layer, of course, and run it, the knife and cutting board under cold water. Rinse the onion with the cold water THOROUGHLY. This temporarily stops the enzymes that cause us to cry 😊

@@ashleywicka you can also freeze the onion for 30 minutes before you go to cut it. No tears.

@@ashleywicka When you cut an onion it releases a fine mist into the air. That's what makes you eyes water so use whatever trick or method you find easier for you to prevent that. I just open a window or turn on my fan to blow the mist away. That's a little bit easier than washing, drying everything etc or many of the other weird tricks people come up with! If I've already started chopping and can't be bothered doing that, I just blow the mist away with my breath XD Ya gotta love science, hey?!

I use googles like the ones you'd use in chem lab that cover your eyes all the way. I hang them up right by my pot holders so they're easy to grab when it's onion cutting time! From 🥺 to 🤓

If you never want to cry again when cutting onions, make sure the last thing you cut off is the root- ie dice or slice the onion and then cut the root off. Great video. All the meals look so scrummy.
