We Guyanese don't need to speak Hindi to be consider an Indian, our heritage and culture identify us as an Indian, thanks to our fore parents who came from India in year 1838 to 1910. Today Indo Guyanese who are 5th n 4th generation don't even consider themselves Indian because we are not and we are 100% Guyanese .

Uska reason hai. Britishers suppresed Indian and prohibited them from speaking Hindi in Guyana and west Indies. Whereas Suriname being Dutch colony was allowed to follow their languages, thats why you see Bhojpuri/ Hindi has survived in Suriname.

I vas invited to suriname by a close friend Ranjit Badloeji of Suriname now in Holland & his lovely wife, Lila ji, very active in work & also religious duties, & 3 Lovely children. I attended a wedding of a lovely family girl, Manisha & & big celebration of eldest sister's 75 th birthday. I Sang 2 lively songs as a US based singer all enjoyed. Many temples. I sang in one Pinjare ke panchhi of Grt Kavi Pradeep ji, my idol & abt 10 had tears in eyes. Great nation & people wt Indian names of children, listen to hindi bhajans, film songs, watch IPL & India news & lot of love for India. Felt like home. My co-singers/performers Anand Kesarkar, Shrikant Kulkarni, young Vaibhav Vashishtha went to give music programs.

India has 132-135 crore people & Bangladesh has almost 17 crores. Now compare.
