So why don't these people in the Indonesian island start planting the native trees again. I think it is over exploitation of natural resources which has caused this problem of aridity and higher temperature. We all know that trees bring rain and make the place a lot cooler.

whatever happened to "global cooling"? “Scientist predicts a new ice age by 21st century,” The Boston Globe reported on Apr. 16, 1970, saying that pollution expert James Lodge predicted that “air pollution may obliterate the sun and cause a new ice age in the first third of the new century.”

We all should be concern with climate change because the consequences are dire and even beyond most people's imagination. One particular event is particularly worrying, i.e. the fast shrinking Arctic sea ice. Once we have an ice free Arctic, various feedback loop will quickly follow. Once the ice disappear, the albedo will change from 0.06 to about 0.5 to 0.7 as ocean is dark and will absorb almost all the solar radiation from the sun. Without ice to keep the ocean icy cold, the ocean temperature will rise very quickly. Note that the energy needed to melt 1 kg of ice is enough to heat 1kg of water by almost 80 degree celcius. So all this implies that the temperature change at the Arctic will not be gradual but is going to happen very quickly. This change in temperature will then affect other aspect of the climate from changing the Jet Stream, further accelerating the melting in Greenland, altering sea circulation movement and thus changing the entire climate. We cannot wait for such event to occur and then decide to take drastic action because once feedback loop kicks in, it is unstoppable.

Another science denialist....climate models use super computers to figure out complex equations based on the law of physics,chemistry and fluid motion...models have been successful in projecting the past climate so why not now? NASA have said the current models project the earths climate to increase and its up to us to change that

@Scratchy Ballzack What I have mentioned is based on scientific facts. You can stay in your cave.
@jk35260
@jk35260 4 жыл бұрын
@Scratchy Ballzack Yes predicting something as complex as the climate with the accuracy that you seem to expect is unrealistic and they are frequently wrong. But that does not suggest that the overall indication that the climate is changing rapidly to a less habitable climate is wrong. The changes to the climate is observable in many ways from a shrinking biosphere, cryosphere, increasingly higher global average temperature, higher occurence of extreme climate events and intensity, extinction rate that is 500 times the natual rate, etc... I did not just listen to one side of the story but had also spent significant amount of time trying to rationalise the opposing view over many years. It is clear to me that the Earth's energy imbalance is significant and if left uncontrolled will change the climate quickly that humanity will find it difficult to survive. Yes, there are uncertainties but we can't wait to clear every aspect of these uncertainties before taking any significant action. It will be too late.

This winter is colder than last year and last year was colder than the previous. It has snowed in Japan down to Athens. Even Corsica where winter highs are typically in the mid-50s, lows around 40, saw snow. We need to pay attention to Climate Change but stop blaming man.
@chandrahartono644
@chandrahartono644 3 жыл бұрын
So we all can observe it's colder and not warmer as what Global warming proponents would like everyone to agree. With these evidence, they change their narratives from "Global warming" to "Climate Change". Nobody wants to live in polluted environment. Neither does anyone seek to suffer in Environment facing constant natural disasters. Human civilization over the millennium faces all these and yet still survived and prosper.

I have watched the video about the delta mekong farmer plight. Seems like no solution yet for them. Any installation of water turbines?
@ditsygirl5409
@ditsygirl5409 4 жыл бұрын
the delta mekong sources is from Tibet and it's projected to lose massive ice due to climate change within these 15 years. The CCP in china has installed a lot of hydropower dams in these rivers upstream of mekong and its a bit like Malaysia and Singapore except that Malaysia is still in agreement to sell water to Singapore for another 41 years while there's no agreement between China and Vietnam. Once water recede in China, they will restrict the flow of water to save their people and there wouldn't be any for the people in Vietnam in their mekong river. Hence, the Vietnamese best chance for mekong's future is to build their own reservoir to save rainwater for their own use.
@cakapcakep241
@cakapcakep241 3 жыл бұрын
Water turbines is not going to solve the problem. The main problem is the salt level of the mekong river due to the reduction of water flowing from the source, which is the himalaya. The Chinese, Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam built many dam in the mekong river to satisfy their needs of electricity.

Climate change in Indonesia has been very obvious in the past decade, well at least it is very obvious in my hometown. You can easily see how massive the sea level is rising. We used to have a beach, even during the tide. Now it's no more. My father also used to work with fishermen to process dried shrimps. But more or less a decade ago, the business failed because the shrimps are not around anymore. They're disappearing from the sea. When the temperature of the sea is too hot, it's difficult for shrimps to reproduce. The whole shrimp industry in the town went bankrupt, like at least 30 companies are closed down permanently, including a business owned by Susi, our former minister of maritime affairs and fisheries. That's already 15 years ago. It's far worse now.
