Mitch you’re a machine and Martha, being a passenger on drives like that is exhausting. Oh my gosh Mitch and Martha this was such a fun video! I am an American with an English mother and Turkish father (I grew up in Texas) who currently lives in Rhode Island in the Northeast USA and it just blew my mind when I saw the road sign for the Uttoxeter and Staffordshire because I believe that’s about where my mother grew up in a village named Cheadle. I Literally have I think I a news clipping of my grandfather and his different wife (my mom’s stepmom) and it talks about the Uttoxeter & Tean? I think newspaper at the top. Of Course I have enjoyed all the different parts of Turkey that you went to as well ( and it’s on my bucket list to go to Cappadocia and do one of those morning hot air balloon rides). Your video was just fascinating!

Trying to figure out how to add another reply here on I will eventually find the news clipping, but my grandfather (on my mother’s English side) was Percival Emery (“Percy Emery”) he had a petrol station somewhere on Tean Road Wayback when. @booms725810 ай бұрын
Hiya, I was interested in the problem you have with your hips (bones?). Not sure what the problem actually is but I have a similar thing. We travel a lot and I make sure I can put my lets straight out on front of me with something under my lets to make it as much like a bed as possible. Without it I can’t do long hours. Once we had to hire a van with a bulkhead like yours, which prevented me from pushing the seat back and adjusting my position. From the south of France to the UK, possibly the worst trip in my entire life!! Keep that in mind if you ever need to change your van. If your seat isn’t flexible enough I used to migrate a seat I had from a fabulously comfortable Saab (cloth not leather, very important). I think it went into three different vehicles all in all! You are a very sweet couple btw❤ stay together!

Having a raised floor without an easy way to access and check what is underneath might continue to cause you problems with customs officials in the future. Just because the UK customs have put it on their system, won't mean much at all in other countries. And as you have already discovered, officials in other countries can be far less courteous or even outright hostile compared to UK ones. Also, just because the van is on the UK system as previously inspected, doesn't mean that other UK customs officers in the future won't decide to take another thorough look. As far as they are concerned, you could potentially be someone who will use the space to transport illegal substances next time. It might seem harmless to you, but to them it is a van with what appears as a possible hidden compartment which they can't inspect - which automatically raises all sorts of alarm bells. It might be a good idea to think about creating some access hatches/holes somehow, ready for any other officials to use to inspect the space underneath. Try and put yourselves in their shoes, having to deal all the time with some pretty determined, deceitful and resourceful criminals - it's not an easy job. Good luck with your future travels!

You must of both been so exhausted from all that driving. Well done for having the patience to deal with that officer. I can't believe they have the audacity to tip your home upside-down, not put ANYTHING BACK when you're trying to complete a journey. Let alone trying to just get you done for the sake of it!!!?? Police are a waste of time

I know it’s was so frustrating and just not something we wanted to deal with, but we would’ve been stupid to not think something was going to happen during such a long trip
