Don't let some of the younger metalheads get ya down the wrong road. I started listening to metal in 1984, and I can promise you that the metal culture is the most warm, welcoming, accepting cultures you will ever find. I'm 50, still get into pits... Ya gotta pick your pits individually. Some are REALLY REALLY rough, but yet if you get knocked down, guarantee you that someone picks you up and makes sure you're good to go. Believe it or not, as violent as the pits get, it's always fraternal and an amazing release, and so much fun. Ya just gotta know you're going to take some lumps. Totally worth it.

Great performance, great reaction. Understand that Wacken Open Air is the largest Metal festival in the world. This was Jinjer's first appearance at the festival. They had an 11:00 am time slot on the Friday of the festival, yet they were highlighted as the featured band in the Friday highlights video. They killed it!!!!! This performance of Perennial is better than the studio version. This was also the second stage. The main stage at Wacken is fucking insane. Another great live performance is Pit of Consciousness, live in Kiev.

Yessss. I’ve been waiting for this! Loved the reaction, of course. But what stood out to me is how you both read the comments and remembered things people told you. That’s rare with lots of reaction channels. 😊 About the mosh pit, essentially the entire standing crowd in front of the stage is the mosh pit. When they run around in circles, that’s a circle pit. Mosh pits are generally a lot more aggressive than in this video (and it’s usually a lot of pushing and shoving people). If you watch Jinjer’s official video for “Teacher, Teacher”, you’ll see what I mean. When I last saw Jinjer, I had to fight off a huge hairy sweaty drunk dude who thought he was going to push his way in front of me. He was pushing past so many people and no one was doing anything about it. I shut that shit down real quick. I’ve gotten into several fights in the pit. Years ago, I almost got my ribs crushed in a pit too. It’s no joke, for sure. Looking forward to your next Jinjer reaction! I’d highly recommend the “Judgment and Punishment” one- take (for a little bit of reggae) or the official videos for “Teacher, Teacher” or “Home Back”. 🤘🏻

Omg!!! We literally read every comment!! So even if there is no response WE SEE IT!! ☺️ It’s crazy to think how people want to go and be in such a crazy environment but I feel like the culture is much more different with Rick than any other genre I’ve seen!! And good for you... somebody had to do shut it down!! If you let people walk over you, THEY WILL... aNf now that you e told me the SEVERITY of going in the pit... I now know to run the other way in those instances... I’m sure it’s s bunch of fun, but also gets wild!! Stay safe, and thanks for tapping in with us!! We have more coming! ❤️ -Asia

@@AsiaandBJ Actually most mosh pits are quite safe and people really care about each other. If someone falls, ten hands will gofor this person in less than a second. It's mostly for fun, but there is almost everytime that one moron that thinks he owns the space and gets actually dangerous. Then, in the hardcore punk scene it's a bit different, as there's a whole "choregraphy" move in the pit, but this is more serious. If you want to see a pit in the mood "everyone was hurt in the making of this video", try Knocked Loose - "Billy no mates". But this is extreme.

@@jen.g. yeah i know that too, going at concerts for more than 20 years now. And I'm not into mosh pits neither. Maybe the difference is that I've mostly been to quite underground shows, avoiding big venues for years now (Jinjer in december 2019 has been the exception since.... I think the last big ones were Cult of Luna and Oathbreaker, years ago). So less people, less people discovering the scene that want to prove something to the others (and not only young), less space to do that kind of shit too, less over-alcoolized people.... maybe that explains a bit my perception. The last show I saw before the pandemic was by the spanish band Drei Affen, I think you might dig it. But on the other hand, I remember receiving accidentally a punch in the plexus in... maybe 2008, during a Hatebreed show in a festival, it's been hard to enjoy the music after that. Luckily, after them came Neurosis, so it was a lot calmer and enjoyable. Ok I'll stop here. Anyways, keep enjoying music, that remains the important thing in the end !

Great reaction. Tatiana and Jinjer are from a different world from what the average American hears on the radio across this country. There are other bands with vocalists that can do this type of singing but Tatiana is next level. I would recommend another performance at Wachen by a band called Nightwish and their song "Ghost Love Score". I think you might find that this is the kind of performance that would attract you to a metal concert. Enjoy, and keep searching for new music!

I’m not a singer, but from what I understand, the growling sound is done by relaxing the vocal cords, and relying on the false vocal cords to make the sound. That’s why it doesn’t hurt her voice, and why she can switch back and forth so effortlessly. It takes a lot of skill to do it properly. She is an amazing talent.

kzbin.info/www/bejne/a5e7gZKQgt-Ar7c I personally like the less processed voice of the live shows more too, which is mostly added delay on the mic to fill the sound out more. Some exceptions exist though when it is really for stylistic choice, like her holographic persona in I Speak Astronomy being very robotic sounding. But overall I just enjoy her raw voice a lot, she's a powerhouse.

Nice reaction guys. So in regards to Tati's vocals, they are often refered to as "harsh" or "extreme" vocals, or also "growling". Tati calls them "harsh" vocals. It's funny because I've been listening to metal for over 40 years, and I never liked "growling" vocals at all, then I found Jinjer, by mistake actually (long story) and I was blown away. This song and live video of Perennial was actually the very first song I heard from Jinjer. I remember saying to myself, I don't know what I just saw and heard, but I think I love her LOL 😄😄😄😄 If you guys continue down this Jinjer journey, you won't be disappointed, each song is is unique and different, but all of them are fantastic. And you guys are right, it's just not Tati, even though she gets the most attention, they guys, Eugene (bass), Roman (guitar) and Vlad (drums) are equally phenomenal, and they compliment each other perfectly, in other words, Jinjer is just a phenomenal band. Continue to enjoy your Jinjer journey, and as always, stay Metal. 😊🤘🤘🤘🤘🎶🎶🎶🎶

The Growl is called harsh vocals while the non growl is revered to as cleans. She is not using her vocal chords to make the growl, its another part of the throat that's use called the vestibular folds also.called the false vocal chords. If you tried to sing like that with the regular vocal chords you would seriously damage them rather quickly. For other female singers that use this technique check out Alissa from Arch Enemy(and Kamelot), Courtney from Spiritbox, and Otep from Otep.

Nice reaction! New subscriber here 🤘 as to the vocals: they're done by producing a kind of "white noise" by vibrating the structures of the larynx above the vocal chords. And then using breathing and typical vocal techniques to amplify the sound. If done right, you don't use your vocal chords. That's why you don't hurt your voice and why it doesn't have a pitch. The higher or lower pitches you may hear are produced by the shape of the mouth and tongue position while she sings

Anybody can do these vocals with a little practice. Tatiana uses the false vocal cords. Everyone has them, so everyone can use them, but we don't normally use them for much except when we cough. Learning where they are in the throat and using them WITHOUT using the true vocal cords is what is key. Distinguishing between them is how she can scream for an hour and switch to singing without her clean vocals being affected.

I got a bloody nose and black eye in the mosh pit at a Pantera concert. It's one of my fondest memories.

Extreme vocals of this type is a learned technique that includes the use of the false chords, sometimes combined with what's known as a "fry scream". When produced correctly, as in the case of this talented woman, it does no damage to the vocal chords. Not an easy technique to learn and master, though.

There's a KZbin channel called Voice Hacks that talks about the technique that produces the growl. Great reaction guys!

The conversation about the mosh pits had me laughing. I remember as a teenager going to my first metal show with friends adn seeing on e for the first time and a dude busted his leg in one. I was like.. Whoa this is brutal!! But it was definitely the best energy I ever felt. I feel at home in the crowd at metal shows.

New sub here now that you have done pisces and perennial. The next 2 should be who is going to be the one live And teacher teacher official video. After those 4 you will have good idea of the bands diversity .from there you can go in many different directions with jinjer.

They also performed Pisces at the same show....Wacken 2019. Audio isn't quite as good as in this video though. And yeah, you don't know if she's going to start off the song with guttural growls or cleans.... one of the best parts of being a Jinjer fan....hehe

False Vocal Chords & Vocal Fry Vocal Coaches good ones can explain it Tatiana Shmayluc is a “Vocal Beast” May I suggest next, TEACHER TEACHER HOME BACK is a Journey and you’ll have to really pay attention to “Sub Basement Vocals/Growls she hits a level almost “UnMastered” even by most males The drummer is quickly becoming a “World Renowned Drummer” All are Top Shelf Musicians they’ll make history and become legends Tatiana has already won the title “Metalcore Queen”

Great reaction! Check out "Cloud Factory official live video", "Retrospection (live)", "On The Top live in Kiev". The further down the Jinjer rabbit hole you go the better it gets.
