BJ, you nailed it - this song is absolutely a product of the 70s, and literally sounds like that decade. As someone who was a young kid in the 70s (I turned two in 1970 - dang I'm old), hearing this transports me instantly back to childhood, travelling in the back seat of the family car with this playing on the radio. Another classic, and another great reaction - peace and love!

The first time I saw America in concert it was the song "Ventura Highway" that got the crowd completely on it's feet. The boys in this band know how to work a crowd into a frenzy, even with acoustic songs, with a little electricity thrown in.

They had a really cool song they wrote called "Sandman" that was entirely made up of overheard conversations at an Air Force base passenger terminal. The song gets overlooked by reactors but is well worth a listen.

Hi Asia and BJ, Thank you for listening to America which is a Band formed in England, My Friend Frank Lane had me write the Chords out for this tune, We used to play Acoustic Guitars around a Camp fire and Jam "Eagles, Neil Young, Paul Simon, Jim Croce, Crosby-Stills-Nash-Young & America." I have their Greatest Hits Song Book "You can do Magic, Sandman, I need you, Tin man, Horse with no name, Muskrat love, Ventura highway & Lonely people." Janet Jackson sampled "Ventura Highway" when she wrote "Someone to call my Lover." Thank you guys, I love this Bands Music! "You can do Magic; You can have anything that you desire, Magic, and you know you're the one who can put out the Fire. You know darn well when you cast your spell - You will get your way, When you Hypnotize with Your eyes a Heart of Stone can turn to Clay." :)

This song made this 63 year old man weep. I had a sister golden hair back in tje 70s as a teen that i never pursued but was madly in love with. Finally 44 years later we reconnect and confess how much we have always loved one another. This was my song for her memory. I was finally able to play this for her and we both wept together knowing we should gave been together since those 70s teen years. Sad and joyful at the same time. The 70s had the mist meaningful music ever. Id go back with her in a minute and this time do it right. Im so glad i grew up then.

I remember when teh song first came out,I thought that it was brilliant. I always liked trying to decipher a song. This song,"SISTER GOLDEN HAIR" was no exception, especially when the lyrics are brilliant. For me,its about a man who wasn't the best of a lover,to nay woman in hsi life. He wasn't too keen on getting married, because of his unsettled, carefree lifestyle, but he is definitely in love with her, because she is always on his mind.He hopes that she can meet him in the middle. He wants her to stay loyal,as he goes about doing his own thing.

They really get to jamming there at the end. And it's just so smooth and melodic. And I love how Asia feels compelled to always give that reminder -you best be paying attention and CORRESPOND, laugh. Lonely People is also a fantastic song by them.

Upbeat song about a guy who's tried to fake it... to pretend he doesn't need anyone... but he just can't make it all alone. He's not ready to settle down, but now that he's being honest with himself he realizes that he wants a relationship with a woman. And not just any woman... one he's known for a long time and just didn't appreciate. Segue to Daisy Jane... very mellow but still the same story. They're at a different part of their relationship but he still loves her and is unafraid to say so. Together these two songs really tell the story of how a good relationship isn't necessarily an easy thing to have.

America is one of those bands that sound better live! Tin Man is a must to listen to. BJ was right on the money. This is 70's, golden years music. Back then it was just a song about love, but in today's world it is interpreted how Asia described it. Great reaction! You both really know how to break a song 's meaning down!

This sound came out of the Laurel Canyon scene of the 60s, as it moved down further down into the valley by the 70s and featured groups like the Eagles and Linda Ronstadt and Loggins and Messina, the latter of which came out of the Buffalo Springfield (as did Stills and Young of CSNY), and Jackson Browne and Carole King. However, America actually got their start in London, England. But by 73 they were in LA and signing with Geffen/Roberts, the people behind Young and Joni Mitchell. It’s all connected!
