“Forgot About Dre” was released as the second single from Dr. Dre’s 2001 album, and it was his statement to anyone feeling like his production suffered after his escape from Death Row in 1996. Eminem not only features on the track, he also wrote almost all of the lyrics, including the majority of Dre’s verses. This is rather obvious given the rapid flow, jam-packed with multisyllabic assonance-a marked departure from Dre’s usual style "Hated on by most these niggas With no cheese, no deals and no G's No wheels and no keys No boats, no snowmobiles and no skis " -: Haters are jealous of Dre’s:“Cheese” (money), (Record) deals, “G’s” (money, as in thousands of dollars.), “Wheels and keys” (nice cars) , Boats, snowmobiles, skis (luxury goods) Cars and money are staples of Dr. Dre songs, while the dense, multi-syllable rhyme scheme and references to skis and snowmobiles are likely a product of Eminem’s pen. "Gave you a tape full of dope beats To bump when you stroll through in your hood " -: Before the release of 2001, Dre already established his reputation for producing many famous hip hop beats fans bump to loudly in car stereos. He’s been producing well-known beats for many artists ever since he was part of N.W.A., but as for a “tape full of dope beats”, he’s likely referring to his first solo album The Chronic which he contributed to the production in all of its tracks. "And when your album sales weren't doin' too good Who's the Doctor they told you to go see? " -: Dre’s reputation as a producer is similar to a “Dr.” in the professional world in that other artists come to him when they need help. This comparison makes this line a play-on of Dr. Dre’s name. He is a mentor to Snoop, Eminem, and even other producers such as Daz Dillinger and Scott Storch. As such, ever since his debut as the head of production at Ruthless Records and well into his tenure at Death Row, he’s done a lot of notable, well-received, commercially successful production work up to this point, sometimes uncredited. "Hoppin' out with two broken legs tryna walk it off " -: There is some serious sarcasm going on in this line. With two broken legs it would be almost impossible to move, nevermind hop. But Em is so drunk and impervious to pain that he tries to just “walk it off”, despite the fact he can’t physically walk. "And I'm still loco enough to choke you to death with a Charleston Chew " -: Charleston Chews are extremely chewy chocolate bars. They are very stretchy and do not break or fall to pieces, thus making them an ideal edible means to strangle someone. "Callin' men ladies Sorry Doc, but I been crazy There's no way that you can save me " -: Eminem lets Dre know that it is hopeless to try and fix him, it isn’t like this crazy behavior had started recently, he has been like that his whole life. It’s best to just let him be Shady.

Great break down and I have to say I agree. You can def tell some of Dre's verse was written by EM. Dre was a way better producer than he was a rapper. Not a diss to Dre its just the way it is. The man is a beast running the boards and making beats but his writting is lacking, like I said its not a diss on Dre its just the way it is.

@@Supes97 who, in this days, beside Eminem, write their own songs, who? Second, you clearly are giving oppinions based in what you heared the internet say and people, you clearly don't know much of this. Let me see, to be considered a duo, both have to write their own verses (it doesn't matter the rapper flow, voice, skills?) Is that it? Even so, Dre has one of the best voices, deliveries and most classic albums ever in rap history, he is a pioneer in this rap game, made collabs with almost every legends and was very important in the developement of the hip hop culture, so, please, put some more respect when you talk about Dre, cquse you clearly don't know sh** about it. I've been on this since the 80's. I would love to know your favorite rappers lol and duos. Oh, who are you to ask me if I know Meth or Redman, etc? You don't know me- what makes you think that i'm giving my opinion based on what I've heard or seen on the internet? I'm a Battle Rap judge, Freestyler and Hip-Hop connoisseur i would literally school you in any Hip-Hop related topic. 1. Saying Eminem is the only one who still writes his raps proves how ignorant you are about the culture- you're the one who actually don't know shit about the culture especially underground rappers which some of them are lyrically better than Eminem but they're not even known because they themselves refuse mainstream rap so they won't ever scratch the surface of the rap game- they just doing for the culture 2. If you were a real Hip-hop head you'd be aware that an emcee who doesn't write his stuff is not considered one. Even if he got the craziest cadences, flows, rhyme schemes and patterns. That applies to Eazy E as well. It seems that got that unconditional love for Dre 😆 3. Wanna know my top 10? Aight. Big L Rakim Nas Big Daddy Kane Chino XL Jeru the Damaja Immortal Technique Masta Ace Chino XL Royce Da 5'9 4. You think you're superior because you listened to Wu-Tang tales before i was even born!? Wow what a groundbreaking achievement lmao.... BOI IF YOU DON'T GET YO- I'm 26 yo and I've listened to every English speaking emcee on the planet. It's not about being born in a certain era it's about whether u went back and did your research- discovered new artists AND it's about knowing the fundamentals of Hip-Hop (lyricism, mic skills, standards to determine whether a certain rapper is goated or nah) not just listen to a rapper and over-praise him like you obviously do! I can name over 30 emcee that you didn't heard nothing or at least half of their discographies. And according to what I've saw from you so far? Yeah you're a typical mainstream head who thinks that Dre is special and Eminem is one of the ultimate rap goats... Because unfortunately you don't know many others that are simply doper. You mainstream groupie 😆 PS: Word of advice, don't you ever judge a person that you don't know shit about or they will make you look bad trust 😆

For me the duo DRE and EMINEM is the best duo in history between an artist and a producer, everything they did together to walk, when you watch Dre's dvd on netflix, he explains that from the very first minutes of their meeting, he already knew that Eminem was going to be a star, he also added that his friends at the time did not want him to produce a white, but Dre didn't care because he is not a racialist. , in the dvd he says that if he managed to release the album "chronic 2001" it is thanks to the energy that Eminem brought him, this dvd teaches us a lot of things that we did not know about the two , especially in relation to the mystery of their meeting where many people invented a truth that did not exist .. Their meeting is thanks to Jimmy Iovine who is Dre's mentor in the high music business ... Iovine/Dre/Eminem = legends. 👌🤙🏼🐐 (big support from France 🇫🇷)

I was graduating high school. There wasn't a car not bumpin it or Summer party not blasting it. The whole album 2001 was the only album people were playing.

This is just around Marshall Dropped, he self published Infinity, then the Slim Shad LP and then the Marshal Mathers LP came out with this about the same time The Way I Am and this one got a lot of people into him, I got into Eminem from hearing him featured on Dre because I was a dre fan and my brain blew up : the hook believe it or not was fast and then he came out with rap god and were like f that was not ast at all

After hearing this, you NEED to listen to "Hail Mary" Hailies Revenge Ja Rule Diss. Then, you will hear Hailie.

That intro was absolutely adorable. 👍✌❤ This is probably my favourite Rap tune, and one of the few that I can (somewhat proudly) pretty much Rap along to (not that a middle-aged white boy like me should necessarily be doing so). 😋
