The hidden, unsaid circumstance in this song is that Cheyenne Frontier Days is the single biggest rodeo and prize on the rodeo circuit. The singer had decided to skip Cheyenne to come home but when his wife told him that she was leaving, he just changed his plans and decided to hustle to Cheyenne after all. I think it is important to recognize that he had decided to skip the biggest rodeo on the circuit to go home before finding out she was leaving in order to really understand the full dynamics in play.

I took it as - him not really caring too much about the breakup and her meeting another man. He always loved the rodeo more than her and this time it was no different. When she tells him, "don't bother coming home and there's someone new" he says it's alright baby If I hurry I can still make Cheyenne Gotta go now baby
@novalikestofly Жыл бұрын
@@zacharyjefferson3988 It is somewhat the combination of both of these. Its is home making that first decision of skipping he largest rodeo, but not being hung up on his girl leaving when coming home wouldn't have made a difference anyway. Definitely a tad more at play here but that is the essence. These are lessons every young man should learn. It is one of the most important. Always make Cheyenne.

This tells the story, of a cowboy on the rodeo circuit, and what it can do to relationships, he is headed to Cheyenne, wyoming, that happens in july, that time of year, is known as cowboy Christmas, because there are so many rodeo's around the country, and most cowboys/cowgirls hit the circuit hard and as many rodeo's as they can get to, it's a hard way to live, but it's also alot of fun! Also,these professional cowboys/cowgirls, they have to PAY! to even compete in these rodeo's, and if they don't place, or win the event, they DO NOT get paid, rodeo, is the only American sport, where the participants have to pay, to participate, I reccomend y'all check out a rodeo sometime, and see what these amazing athletes(animals included) can do!!....great reaction to king George y'all, keep up the good work!!..👍👍

This song strikes me differently, there's so many working men, especially us who work construction, who chase work all over the country, slowly breaking our bodies down with every job we join in on. To make sure someone is safe, provided for, and insulated from the type of punishment we endure. To eventually hear that it's no longer appreciated just as you've about used your body all up. Seen it hundreds of times.

Oh absolutely. Men will work until it kills them. Working real hard hours when younger, just work, drink, sleep a little and do it all over again. One of the main reasons men need women is because they'll tell us to slow down and take care of our crazy selves. And man if they don't have a good woman it's a disaster. And if they got a good woman and she dies young, well they'll just drink themselves to death.

George is a real cowboy, owns a ranch, and use to rodeo. He sings what he’s lived. One of the best. Another cowboy Chris LeDoux (deceased) who use to rodeo. In fact Garth Brooks said Chris LeDoux and Kiss were some of his biggest influences and why his live shows were like they were. Hers a some very good ones from Chris : This Cowboys Hat, Tougher Than the Rest, Life is a Highway, He Rides the Wild Horses, Whatcha Gonna Do With a Cowboy, Look At You Girl, Bang a Drum, Hooked On An Eight Second Ride, and Western Skies. Reba McIntyre was also in rodeos prior to her singing career. I totally understand that dreaded phone call as my son rode bulls for 9 years. Waiting at home for the call was actually harder than watching him ride. But unfortunately the life of a rodeo rider is hard for family to attend the rodeos as they are all over the country. Well after 9 years, that real bad call came in. They were loading him in an ambulance, the bull had hit him in the head and knocked him out, then while he layed on the ground, the bull tripped and fell upside down on top of him. Crushing all of his ribs that went in and punctured both lungs causing both lungs to collapse. His pelvis was broken on both sides, T-1 in his neck broken, and his tail bone. He survived an hour before he arrived at the emergency room where he coded and they brought him back and air lifted him to a trauma center. By the grace of God, he has made a full recovery. Yes 6 months later he was back riding bulls. Which he did for about another year. He said he didn’t want anyone telling him he had to stop, he wanted to make the decision himself. I know he misses it. But he still works cattle on a ranch and rides horses, and is now bringing up two of his own sons passing on the tradition. I have to say, I’m glad those days are behind us. It’s just one of those feelings you’re so proud of them following their dreams, but yet scared to death. Take a listen to Dear Rodeo by Cody Johnson, a very good song of how they feel when they can’t do it anymore. My son said that’s exactly how he feels.
@jjayp1Ай бұрын
This tune paints such a contradiction yet almost an apt foreword to the story told in Cody Johnsons "Dear Rodeo". In this song, the narrator lets the lifestyle dictate his future, whereas CoJo regretfully sings about leaving the rodeo he loved behind in order to not fall prey to allowing the sport to rule his life.

What George is talking about isn't just the injuries, it's being gone all the time too. Rodeo is a sport that keeps you on the road all the time and there are a lot of distractions to test a relationship. Watch the movie 8 Seconds. The whole gist of the song is his thoughts he had about quitting rodeo and he was coming home but she said don't bother now. So, he can still make the Cheyenne rodeo if he hurries. Cheyenne is one of the biggest rodeos on the circuit.
