And now you know why the lines “You weren't afraid to face the devil; You were no stranger to the rain” are in Vince Gill’s song Go Rest High On That Mountain.
@teensymom14202 жыл бұрын
RIP Keith. BTW, country artist Vince Gill wrote a song called Go Rest High On That Mountain and in the first part of the song he paid tribute to Keith and this song in particular. The second part of the song was about Gill's brother's passing. It is an amazingly beautiful song and voices don't come any better than Vince Gill's. The original recording is best version, IMO.

When this song song came out, I was in the final days of my own fight with the bottle. The song seemed to be emblematic of my whole life at that time. More than once, I shook my head and thought "Keith, you been reading my mail?". Before the end of that year, I'd put the plug in the jug and it hasn't been back out since. Keith lost the same fight that very year, right when he was on his way to greatness. RIP Keith, this song was one of the things that inspired me to stay in the fight, wish you'd have made it too.

BJ, I know what you're saying. We all have hard times in life. Ups and downs as you say. I'm sorry Asia wasn't understanding what you were talking about. I guess men relate to that kind of thing a little more than women. The ladies are more just about love and romance and being positive. But we men do spend a lot of time alone inside our own minds soul searching and trying to work things out about our life. The ladies should really just try to understand and let us acknowledge that about ourselves instead of shooting us down and demeaning how we feel by saying things like, "Oh, but, you don't have a bad life, What are you complaining about?". That's not the point. The point is, we all have struggles within ourselves regardless of what kind of life we lead. And we push on through. This is a great song! And Keith Whitley was at the top pf his career when he recorded this and had a great life going, but at the same time, he definitely had demons he was dealing with. And one of those demons eventually killed him. Alcoholism. I saw Keith live in Concert a little less than a month before he died.

Dancing with the dead, army of the night, sanctified with dynamite, we drink your blood, demons are a girl's best friend, are all great songs. I'd love to hear Asia's opinion of the singing. I think she'd really appreciate it. The singer Attila is classically trained in opera. I love you guys so much😁❤

Since y’all seem to like Keith Whitley y’all should hear his song “Nobody in his right mind would have left her”. It’s the original version of George Straits remix which somehow is just as good which rarely happens with a remix sounding just as good or if not better then the original. Most artist mess it up not worth listening to.. but u should hear Keith’s version before George’s version to appreciate the difference both made but to know how it originally sounded before being changed
