This song is all about lyrics, when you don't know polish I understand it can be boring because it can't touch you the way it touches when you know polish and listen to these words and how they're sung. It's his best song, it's a future polish classic
@Stefja-tp112 ай бұрын
Polish music in general (and Podsiadło in specific - he's an excellent example) is about lyrics. And -hard to describe- vibe. Maybe it's because history - during communism we used to have harsh censorship (for the whole decades) and artists were forced to write songs with hidden meaning, using lots of metaphores and other language tricks. People are use to seek "in between the lines" while listening to songs. Maybe it's because our national melancholy, created by polish weather and romantic attitude. Hard to say. I was always amazed that Colombian music is in 95% happy and cheerful. My colombian friend, on the other hand, was amazed when I played him polish "rough, sad/depressing and complicated in text" polish songs. One thing is for sure - You miss a lot of it's nature by poor translations. Want to get along with polish music (and polish nature in general) - try Chopin, he captured beautifully our national spirit in his work.

The great thing about Dawid Podsiadło is how every time he performs live he changes how his songs sound just for the performance. The "base versions" of his songs can be found on spotify, but there are also versions that were not released anywhere on the internet. He even made a CD that only had slightly altered live versions of his songs, available only to people who bought the tickets to the tour where it was recorded. Also, I recommend his live cover "lubię wracać tam gdzie byłem" from Wodecki festival

This song is 11 years old and is one of Dawid's first hits. To be honest, I don't like this version very much either, but if I were there I would probably have a great time because I know the song very well and have listened to it dozens, if not hundreds of times. In my opinion, you listen to this song mainly for the lyrics, but I recommend listening to the studio version, there is a little more going on there.

This was the song that made our nation love Dawid. I believe it was on his first album and we didn't know anyone remotely similar to him up to then, especially on that level of fame scale. He sort of kick-started it for other polish artists. To be honest, many songs from that album are 'boring', as you said, which later changed. His every album is immediately top of the charts and surprising, especially in terms of lyrics (for example "Nie ma fal", which translates to "there are no waves", which he repeats in the song :D that was a good one, and still is). Poles love him ;)

Z wielkich koncertów polecałbym Pol'and'Rock Festival (wcześniejsza nazwa: Przystanek Woodstock - od 1995 do 2017). Tam przewinęło się wiele, wieeeele zespołów.

I'm surprised I didn't know that song. I disagree wholeheartedly! It's awesome! It gives me chills. However, I am not a fan of live recordings, crowd sounds break sound experience for me, still, this is incredibly energetic performance and I'm not sure how it compares to the original. I am just going to look for it. The song creates sort of a wall of a sound, that hangs indefinitely, creating an atmosphere. What you call boring is a special procedure (I can't find the proper English word for it) that you can find in many legendary songs like Peral Jam's Jeremy? I think. I could mistake the song's name, but if that is not it, it is one of other ones that is so popular from their first album. Anyway, this effect, can be boring, but can be incredible if done right and I think in this song it was done perfectly - again, chills.

Ten gostek to facet wychowany w USA, więc ma w sobie taką butę i wielkie ego amerykanina (patrzy na innych poza USA z góry) i do wszystkich i wszystkiego zresztą w taki sposób podchodzi.
@ppalacz2 ай бұрын
My reaction to your reactions - this one included. First, I suggest you take a moment to learn how to properly pronounce the names of the people you’re discussing. For example, in the case of Podsiadło, whose name you mispronounce badly, it’s only three syllables. How much effort would it take for a professional musician to get it right? Second, when you encounter music that goes beyond the standard commercial variety-like much of Podsiadło’s work-I feel you’re missing the essence. This might be partly due to a lack of understanding of the cultural context, and partly because you’re comparing it to what you’re familiar with (the U.S. commercial pop market?). It seems you’re using that as your frame of reference, which might limit what you see. Third, regarding the event you’re reacting to-the concert. Yes, the music may come across as repetitive or ‘boring,’ but I believe this assessment misses the mark in a few key ways. One is that this was a concert, and the primary audience was in the stadium. Their expectations and needs seem to have been well met by the show. Another point is that this performance is, in a way, a derivative-it’s a reference to the original music video from over 10 years ago (kzbin.info/www/bejne/nWW4dZiHic-Aj80). Whether you like it or not is your choice, but the real challenge here is that this is something not easily reducible to standard commercial pop music. As I see it, if you start questioning what’s different here from what you’re accustomed to-like with other Polish artists (for example, Niemen, Demarczyk, Wodecki, Grechuta, etc.) - your reactions could become more nuanced and insightful, and possibly give you more in return. By the way, I’ve been living in the U.S. for quite some time, so I am somewhat familiar with the cultural conditioning you’re coming from.
