From what I've observed with the K.pop culture being an idol is beyond being a Hollywood star and some spend years training before they debue. The fans are really fanatic and some of their contracts restrict them from having relationships for about 3 years to create the fantancy of being available to all your fans. It also seems very rewarding if you love the fame and most people debue when they are young. I think that's why the question was asked.

@senpaitama87784 жыл бұрын
Literally. Also it is good to point out that the kpop groups you do hear/watch on YT (even groups that you would consider "flops") are actually successful compared to other groups. Because the reality is, you don't even hear about so many idol groups, and the ones you do hear about are the 10%. And within that 10% only VERY few groups are making $$$. Honestly, I reckon there are only 10-15 idol groups who are actually rich (members earn or are projected to earn more than 1 million ea): EXO, BTS, Twice, BigBang, Suju, 2NE1, SNSD, TVXQ, RV, Got7, BP

And an even smaller fraction actually become successful. It's very high risk high reward.

@sendmemoneythanks5 жыл бұрын
Daeg Ham exactly. And the sad part is that fans don’t really see that there idols might be suffering. There is no mental health awareness in the Kpop industry. No awareness about prostitution, drugs or harassment etc. only when a big celebrity like seungri gets caught people are shocked. Like did you not know about all this before? Plus the stress that the fans put on their faves is crazy. Oh and don’t forget the ssaseng fans. It’s a dark industry honestly. Recruiting the prettiest faces and making them get plastic surgeries etc when the average Korean doesn’t even look like that. It’s not all the glitz and glamour. And I’m not a feminist or about women’s rights but female idols do have it harder.
@Afternoonsun-c9y5 жыл бұрын
@@scalderon97 it's not really the private life. It's about the timing that one puts in it. If you don't make it even after training for sooo long (which is very grueling mentally and physically) then you've wasted your time. Like the lady said "high risk, high return". Also all the kpop stars/groups work equally hard but only some make it. It's a lot of luck factor. So one has to be alot mentally strong to handle failures.

@doremifasolasiyeon90054 жыл бұрын
exactly. i wouldnt ever dream of becoming one which is why i respect those who have been working hard to pursue that career. there is very little chance of your group becoming successful if you're from an unknown agency and when you're a trainee in a popular agency, there is also little chance of debuting considering that there are many trainees who may be way better than you are in terms of skills, visuals, etc. when you end up unsuccessful, like your group flopped then disbanded and no one would be willing to debut you bc you're not young enough but you've been training your whole youth for it, it's such a WASTE. when success isnt guaranteed, some may end up in that situation. that's why to be a kpop idol, you need to be mentally strong. there are so much negative sides from my perspective tbh. this is why have so much respect for idols (although there are some who might be awful offcamera, some may turn out to be rapist, except them ofc)

I'm surprised that their answers were different as to not become an idol. A great interview. Especially, the interviewer is REALLY good at asking questions. She could be my mentor lol. As a west indian/Caribbean every parent, specifically mother's want their child to become a nurse, lawyer, and a doctor. Like, on my mother's side of the family they attained those positions and are making making money and all but I always observe them and contemplate whether they're happy or not because they're mom (my grandmother(s) were in those fields. My grandfather was a philosopher and a writer and I think I got those "traits" from him alot more becuase I love to read, write, questioning which is why I'm a journalism major. It took me a VERY long time and effort to tell my mom that I didnt want to become what she dreamed of me doing. She was upset that I didn't tell her after two years of TRYING to do what she wished me to do and failed at it. However, after self realization and knowing what I really want--its like bildungs roman. My dad is totally fine with it as long as im happy. My journey is one hell of a ride but I'm glad to see how it's going. I think that...if you feel happy doing something because of how innovative it is and such; go for it. It takes alot of courage and effort to go after something but I think it's worth it.

When I was young I really wanted to be an IAS officer but now a days when my parents or friends ask me what I want to be or what my ideal job is I can't seem to reply , At some point I was like , "Why can't I say that I want to be an IAS officer confidently like how I used to?!" Then I realised that I no longer had a dream or passion to become an IAS officer , I was trying to find what I like and What I was good at , I liked drawing from my childhood very much , And I often find myself doodling pictures here and there especially I really like design new variety of cloths , Then I realised that creating new designs , Thinking about them is giving be extreme happiness and joy , I felt like my heart was melting , I still don't know if I really want to take it as a profession(as fashion designing)But right now ,I can say that designing cloths are the only thing that brings me joy and feel motivated😊

I had a Korean best friend that wanted to be a kpop idol it was her dream💞 (in south africa) She told me that she would take me with her to Seoul because I wanted to be one too we were 10 years old back then it was 3 years back so we saved R100 0000 together. But when we were 11 she begin to get sick and I was so worried about her I've never known what she had but she took me hand and told me to never give up on my dreams become who I want to become and always love yourself did you know how I cried💔 she died after it was her birthday actually before that's - on her birthday I brought her a birthday cake that she'd always wanted😢I'm so heart broken but now I'm following her foot steps and I'm studying hard to be who I want to be just like her😊. this is my life of a mixed girl and korean girl being best friends😭 I love her forever and I will never forget her R. I've been following Asian Boss' videos for a while and (this could be filtering) I'm always amazed by how insightful and well-spoken the interviewees are. I would assume that because of their cram method education system, the reality would be opposite, but the system (or smtg else about the society) could be doing something right.

I agree to their answers. Being a kpop idol is so hard you sacrifice your youth for training, your privacy, your love life as well. One wrong move and you'll get bashed that can really affect your metal health. It's like a gamble where you're not sure if you gonna be successful or not. If you succeed you'll make money but it doesn't end there. You have to work harder to maintain your image and standing since there's always a new group that could easily snatch the spotlight and the sad part is you'll be set aside as you get older and worst part is you'll just disappear and forgotten.

So cool that these people have the foresight and wisdom to understand the potential risks and consequences of becoming famous. Seems like lots of people in the world still only see the glamor that comes with fame but fail to see the potential downsides such as loss of privacy, upholding a certain image, etc, etc.

Well just being an idol is very hard for what I see. Before they become idols, they're put in extreme stress to debut and they have to train for like years. I tried to sing and dance at the same of their songs, and it is difficult as hell. Of course, they have haters and fans that expect something big from them which just can be very stressful. Some of them recieve hate just because they want to date someone. I mean come on, fans can be very toxic at times like that cause they want their idols for themselves. They don't think what their feels. They are also human beings just like the fans. This is just a mere opinion of an international K-pop fan💜
@sendmemoneythanks5 жыл бұрын
xcolleen7127x Daeg Ham exactly.

I love singing, dancing, writing lyrics, and producing music, I would love to be an idol, but there are so many risks you have to take, and you have to mentally prepare yourself for a very long and tiring journey, and don't even get me started on how hard you'd have to work to get recognition. I really have a lot of respect for idols, especially kpop idols. We should appreciate their hard work and be careful on what we say. Hurtful words can really damage an idols confidence and performance.

This video was so meaningful for most Korean teenagers who haven't their job nowadays. South Korea's economic depress had made weirdest situations that so many Korean young generations wanna their promising jobs for earning big money. Yes, it was a entertainers' life. Not all Korean youngers might become K-POP idols due to it's so hard & desperately competition. The gate is so narrow but there're so many people who wanna entering there. If Korean young generations want to become a popular entertainer, they should have owned all everything such as a good looking face, nice body, nice personalities, multi-lingual abilities, capabilities as a singer. But it's so hard course and only a few young people who as the chosen might go through those complicated conditions. Life of K-POP idol, it wouldn't easier than what they think.

I'm really thankful for the video, it was really eye opening Unfortunately, for my own bad I wasn't mature until now to know the difference between 'popular' and 'talented'. These idols were so intimidating that I'd think this must feel like heaven, having so many people know you.. But turns out that's not sth to consider while choosing life goals. Don't try to the second someone , Try to be the first you (Idk which, but I think it's from a movie my brother was watching one day) PS. I wonder though, Are they really loved that much for real? Is it the kind you feel for a true friend, or the way you feel about your junk food (you know it's wrong but you still love to eat it) ?

What a great interviewer! She's perfect, easy-going, leading with questions, and then following up with more and better questions... As for kpop idols, Koreans above a certain age all know now about slave contracts, working hard for years with little return... Statistically, your average kpop idol has a terrible deal, working for nothing. The market is so saturated, only the top .1% get the rewards.

This video is so on point. The interviewer is too good. Also, the interviewees seem very practical and realistic. They are not delusional like the once who might have demanded a video on this topic. I am from India 🇮🇳 and not everyone here dream of becoming a Bollywood star. The entertainment market is saturated. People come, people go, only handful of people become stars. It is not just Hard work, patience, perseverance but some amount of luck also goes in. Anyway, very insightful video. Thank you for making it.
