They kept losing possession of the ball whenever it was passed towards the opponent’s area of the field and couldn’t get through them and create chances. And they had a consistent problem with the ball bouncing off their foot after a long throw and it ending up with the opponent almost every time. They got lucky when the opposing player kicked the ball through their own net. even in the india match, if you watch the extended highlights on CBS Sports you can see Australia had many chances to score but they weren’t able to. The 2 times they were able to get a goal the keeper was distracted/didn’t think a few seconds ahead. Australia just don’t have anything that’s reminiscent of technical players and attackers and I predict they will not make it far out of the tournament.

We don't have enough experience to play against teams like Australia. 17 players are debuting for 1st time in this Afc asian cup. Our progression stage has just started. You can't expect a solid performance from a team who also didn't get enough camp time. Where Australia was preparing from 20th December and played friendlies too! Like why Australia need a friendly when they know that they're the favourites of group? Because they know that going at war without preparation whether it's small or big, can cost them so high. Just believe in the progress, next time when you will see Australia vs India. This team will not be the same, we will not be parking the bus and just defend. We will make sh't out of them.

Congratulations to Australia as an Indian. Obviously I didn't expect us to win playing a team 77 places above us in the FIFA rankings but at least it wasn't a massacre. Australia's finishing wasn't great and I'm shocked we kept the first half goalless. But when your goalkeeper makes a mistake like the first goal at this level, more often than not you will be punished and that's what Australia did. Hopefully we can get a result against Uzbekistan and/or Syria. Credit to Australia, obviously the better team, coming in as favorites to win the tournament. As a Pakistan I would say that India did a very good job keeping the Australians for a long time at bay and only losing 2-0 considering they are regular at the world cup and were beaten by a slight margin by the eventual champions. As an Aussie (Australian), India played much better then was expected, also FIFA rankings mean nothing. Alot of teams come to a game which they already fear the opponent and it means they have already lost the battle. India didn't do that and it was a great game and a controlled result

Problem with the Asian Cup is that the gulf of quality between the lower teams and the higher teams is always enormous. Chances are its always the same strong teams that end up through the knockout stages and thus get themselves eliminated faster. Hopefully we see some of the rising teams like India, Malaysia, China, Indo, Vietnam etc. take a step up and suprise us

Australia's 🇦🇺 FIFA ranking is 25 and India 🇮🇳 is at 102. So, there is a huge gap between two teams in terms of Quality and Tactical Abilities. Comparing the two teams is foolishness as Australia 🇦🇺 is an Asian Giant. But, the Compactness and Discipline of Indian defense line was really good. And, Australians didn't give any clear cut chance to India 🇮🇳 due to their World Class Defence. Both the goals conceded by India 🇮🇳 was totally Gurpreet's mistake as he was displaced. Football is not as profitable for india as statue, status earn millions and employees 1000 in different sectors, Football doesn't gives back to the investors anything yet in india even after millions of private investments after 10 years . One statue in gujarat crated an entire township in that area hotels, restaurants, new business its an entire eco system, you must be a child to understand it or just ignorent . Look at cricket, if you check the govt contribution it nothing they making billion. Football was controlled by corrupted peoples up until recently thats why its not even 5th popular sports in india.

I watched the extended highlights on CBS Sports and you could see that Australia had many chances to score but weren’t able to. The 2 times Australia got to score was because the goalkeeper got distracted/didn’t think a few seconds ahead. In general, the Indian players defended very well so I give massive props to them. I believe Australia will lose to Uzbekistan and take second in the group.
