Not without issues, but we got 'er done for the passenger side.

Hi, Erik here asking years later - overall impressions on these Wilwoods? I have the same spindles on my 70 Chevelle (Hochkis A arms conversion) and the brake set in the box. I am considering getting latest conversion kit of dropped spindles with C4 Corvette brakes before I "make the cuts" to mine. Thx

Hey there! I still have not had a chance to drive the car. Pretty soon though.

What kinda dollies you got under that??? I don’t think I’ve ever seen a set with reliefs for jack stands. That or I haven’t been lookin at em hard enough lol
@asicerik3 жыл бұрын
They are not reliefs, just curved with some slots in them. I think these are the ones I have? www.summitracing.com/parts/aaf-all10135

next time you're trying to figure out how to torque the wheel studs into the hub just thread them in as far as you can by hand and then place the hub in the back of a wheel that's laying firmly on the floor
@asicerik2 жыл бұрын
Well that makes too much sense! Thanks

@@asicerik Haha.. I'b resto-modding a 77 camaro as well. since 2017. You're videos have been a god send. Thank you for all the extra effort to make them.

Looks awesome. Sucks about the nut but at least it will go back together quick once you get the new hardware.
@asicerik8 жыл бұрын
Yeah, stupid design if you ask me. There should be a bigger nut there.
@bulletnova76378 жыл бұрын
Might be able to get a grade 8 six point nut, might have to skim the hole out a little to be able to tighten it.

Looks awesome brother 👍🏻👍🏻 so what's turning? just the nut ? can't you run a die down the threads and get another nut ?
@asicerik8 жыл бұрын
I will take a look, but I think bracket itself looks like it was stripping. Good call though, I will take that nut off and see what it looks like in there. Thanks again.
@AngeloC498 жыл бұрын
+asicerik just one Camaro lover to another 👍🏻 I personally hate those nuts they should of shipped them with standard nuts and lock washers and a little drop of red lock tight and done !!!
@asicerik8 жыл бұрын
I agree. Usually just the top of the nut is out of round, but this whole thing was oblong. I could barely get a socket on it. Sheesh

Great video, much appreciated!

Looks great! From what I saw, the bracket that mounts the spindle is countersunk, I think the instructions may have the countersink in the wrong part. Looks like its countersunk to take that bolt flush or below the level of the bracket. On those lock nuts, I would look and see if you can get that lock nut in a six point fashion. Just a suggestion! To me its odd that they use that fashion of a nut on something as important as a brake caliper, is there a flat washer under that nut?
@bulletnova76378 жыл бұрын
When you take it apart, check and see if its the stud or the nut that is stripped, you might be able to fix the stud by running a thread chaser over it and straighten out the threads.
@asicerik8 жыл бұрын
The stud is trashed too. Figures
@asicerik8 жыл бұрын
There is a washer under the nut.

Whats the part number for the bracket on the spindle or a kit number?
@patriotboy295 жыл бұрын
@asicerik I was wanting to know could u give me some info on your rear wilwood setup like the axle offset measurement or the model number for your kit? Thanks man
@asicerik4 жыл бұрын
Oh sorry- I just saw this. Not sure if you still need the info, but I did do a video on the rear end offsets and measurements.
@Mr.Abarth4 жыл бұрын
Can you say me part number of this kit? Do you know, will they fit 79 Camaro? Best regards, Evgeny
@asicerik4 жыл бұрын
Hey there. It has been awhile, but I think the part number was 140-12278. Wilwood says up through 1978. You can call them and ask for the best option. For me, I did not want to go to 14" rotors, but I wanted 6 piston calipers in the front, so that was the only kit they had.

Wheel looks great, doesn't look like much room for a bigger nut
@asicerik8 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I am kinda hosed I think.
@carolinamanjr13858 жыл бұрын
You could drill it out more but you might lose strength, and the powder coating
@asicerik8 жыл бұрын
That bolt that is stripped is part of the mounting bracket, so I can't do anything with that part.
