Good video. I appreciated that you posted the video AFTER running with them. The comment you made about the hot spots is bang on. I went for a 10K run yesterday with my new Kayanos. At around the 6k mark, I felt some heat on the forefront of my left heal. By the end of the run, I was happy to get these shoes off. I’ll try a different pair of socks on my next run BUT this is definitely an issue. I’ve been using Kayano’s exclusively since 1997 and this is the first time I’ve had any discomfort like this. Perhaps swapping the insole with those in the Kayano 29 ??

Thanks for the comment! I am continuing to run in the 30's and the hot spots are subsiding a bit after 40+ miles. Have had to use moleskin early on but they seem to be breaking in somewhat. would love to see ASICS use the upper and sock-liner design from the Gel-Kayano Lite 3 as I have no issues with that shoe.

Quite interested in the new 'wide platform' design. I tend to do well with that. Seems to me Asics must have had some difficult choices regarding foam firmness, to keep this fairly thick slab stable, without turning-off too many lovers of the soft squish. Convenient to watch OMV put them through the practical ringer, while I ponder things. Thanks !

I found this review entertaining and thorough. I was impressed by the Kayano 30 for its aesthetics, its support and comfort. However, I was actually impressed that I had similar experience to your experience during my first 2 runs. First 5 mile run, very comfortable. Then i did a 10 mile run a few days later and my right big toe had a hot sport and my left pinky toe noted hot spot and near blister. Now I am afraid of running with them again as I never had blisters from other shoes. Still, I did like the shoes for comfort, bounciness without being too soft. It certainly does not say fast but I was able to maintain a pace within 15 to 20 seconds of my Vaporfly.

Would love to hear your thoughts on this versus the Superblast for a long run shoe and marathon shoe that is protective and stable on tired legs.
@oldmanvanrunning
@oldmanvanrunning 11 ай бұрын
Both shoes are outstanding long run options in my opinion. The 30 is more stable as it's a stability shoe, but I'm blown away with the inherent stability in the Superblast. For mild-moderate pronators, it's plenty protective enough. The differences are in weight (Superblast much lighter) and performance (Superblast much faster), while both are supremely cushioned. I think the Kayano 30 is a better slow run shoe, whereas the Superblast is better suited for moderate to faster runs. As a stable option for a Marathon shoe, the Superblast would be my choice.

Thanks for the comment and question! You could use them for a Half and Full if the goal is primarily to finish. These are significantly heavier and less responsive than shoes designed for racing. There are, however, excellent versatile options such as the ASICS Superblast or Saucony Tempus that can be used for both training and racing at those distances.

@@oldmanvanrunning Yes, fingers crossed. Mine came on Friday and I took them on a first 5k. I am absolutely with you, definitively better than the 29. One problem I have with all those super cushioned shoes is, that they are so soft, that my feet sink into the midsole . The inner sole expases and compresses due to that, so that it slightly rubs against my feet, which can result in hot spots (hope, that makes sense anyhow,). The 30 feels much better in that aspect than the 29, but that issue is not completely gone. I will also try ohter socks, let's see what that helps

On my first run with these shoes I had to stop running in them after 45 minutes as my feet were burning. I thought it might just be a settle in issue so tried them again for the same result (30 minutes it starts warming up) and had to stop at around 45 minutes - 8km. Tried a third time and although the heat wasn't as intense I was still very uncomfortable. I would assume at that point that the gel is reacting and because of that even if they don't warm up again I would say that the gel layer is compromised and you are not going to get the performance you paid for. I contacted ASICS and they agreed to accept a return of the shoe as faulty. I see more and more of this on various threads so I would say that ASICS have a big issue with this shoe between design/quality control and manufacturing.

Hey Michael!...That's unfortunate, but glad ASICS is taking them back. So far, my issue with them is limited to a hot spot. Otherwise, I think this could be a great shoe. Hopefully, ASICS gets these issues sorted out. 👍

@@oldmanvanrunning I'm seeing more runner reviews on the 30 with the hotspot issue - some like mine the whole inner sole, others like yours with specific spots. This is the only shoe in over 40 years of running and pretty much all brands including ASICS that I've ever had a hot spot issue and when you read the ASICS marketing of the shoe the gel is meant to "form" around your specific running style and feet which means the gel is pliable in the early stages - what I experienced (and increasingly others) would indicate a potential design and composition issue for the shoe under certain conditions.

Thanks for the question!...The K30 could be a marathon option if comfort and control are more important than a specific time. A better but more expensive option for a mild over-pronator would be the ASICS Superblast. Much lighter and even more cushioned while being very stable. Another good option would be the Saucony Tempus.

How does it compare to kayano lite 3
@oldmanvanrunning
@oldmanvanrunning 11 ай бұрын
More cushioned and a better feeling midsole, albeit a heavier shoe. For long runs, the Kayano 30 would be my choice.

Is this good for walking shoe?

I believe it can be. Depends on how much cushioning you want, but I think it will be stable enough.

will this colorway became rare in sneaker market?

Hey Andy! 👋 Thanks for the question!...I sure hope it does. I'm not wearing this pair just in case it does become rare. Keeping it in the original packaging with all the tags intact. 👌

So let me get this right. You buy two pairs - one to run in and one for investment purposes ie capital growth? By leaving it boxed in pristine condition?
@oldmanvanrunning
@oldmanvanrunning 9 ай бұрын
Not so much for investment purposes 😅 Just because I love the limited 30th edition colorway and thought it would be cool to keep as I kinda review running shoes 👟 👍😎👍

How is it compared to the tempus?
@oldmanvanrunning
@oldmanvanrunning 11 ай бұрын
Pretty different. The Tempus is lighter, faster, less cushioned, and more versatile. The Tempus is still my favorite stability trainer.

How abou GT 2000 12 vs Kayano 30? I think GT lighter.
@oldmanvanrunning
@oldmanvanrunning 9 ай бұрын
Haven't tried the GT 2000 12 yet, but you are correct about the weight. The Kayano 30 is more of a max-cushioned shoe

Nimbus 25 vs
@oldmanvanrunning
@oldmanvanrunning 11 ай бұрын
Both use the same FF Blast+ midsole while the Nimbus has a slightly higher stack height and weighs less than the Kayano 30. The obvious difference is that the Nimbus is a neutral shoe.
@lawoman608
@lawoman608 11 ай бұрын
@oldmanvanrunning sounds to me from all the on line reviews, nimbus 25 and K30 are very similar, so now they ate both neutral shoes. I am frustrated, because I really loved my kayano 28 and things are going down hill after it (to me).
