Thanks for your honest review! I bought the Kayano 30 in size 45, both the standard and wide version. Since my feet is a bit wide in the forefoot, I thought the wide version could be a good fit. It has a lot of room in the toebox and my small toe doesnt rub agaibst the side mesh. But the overall volume and height of the wide version is also increased so I dont get a snug fit in the heel area. So they are very comfy in the forefoot but a bit loose in the heel. Its not like they are slipping but if I hold my shoe, I can quite easily remove my foot from the shoe despite it being tied with rhe runners lock. The standard version has still some space in the toebox for my toes to wiggle but my small toes are pushing a bit against the hard mesh on the side. The standard version also has less volume overall and fot more snug. The heel counter is grabbing my heel better and there is no sliding in the heel at all. Seems the wide version of the kayano is wide overall and not just in the toebox. My last pair was a kayano 28 in size 44 (normql width) and the sidewalls cracked on both feet of the shoes due to it was a bit tight and small toes were rubbing/pushing agaibst the sidewall. I had good runs in them but mt small toe nails got purple often. Should I go for the standard version with an overall snug fit and a bit more cramped feeling or the wide version with more space in the toebox but that aint as snug in the heel are? The wide version is much more comfy in the toebox, giving my toes plenty of room to move in all directions (spread out/ up n down). Sorry for my long question but would appreciate advice from someone with as much experience like u have.

How is the Pro4 compared to Pro 2.I have the Pro 2's and I just love them for the race (10K and HM)
@oldmanvanrunning5 күн бұрын
Thanks for the question! I haven't personally worn the Pro 2, but from what I've heard and read, it's firmer and less stable. That may mean it's better suited for shorter distances like 5 and 10Ks and possibly Halfs

Thank you for the interesting review update! Do you overpronate? I saw you were testing the Guide 17s, which I love as my daily trainers and wondering if the EP4 could be a half marathon race day option for me as I have my first race coming up in September. I overpronate, and the Guide 17 has a great (mild?) stability for me and I have taken it on three half marathon training runs so far without issues. So far have also been considering using the Guides for race day since I know I can do in them! Since you know the Guides, how does the stability compare?
@oldmanvanrunning5 күн бұрын
You're very welcome!...The EP4 is not as stable as the Guide 17, but if your stability needs are mild to moderate, it can be a good race day option. I wear the Guide 17 for training as I also overpronate, but the EP4 is stable enough for me to race in. It also depends on your race goals as well. Are you racing for PBs or just to finish?
@matthiasdepenbusch80574 күн бұрын
@@oldmanvanrunning good to hear you’re a fellow overpronator with a similar setup! When I signed up I just wanted to finish my first HM race but now might want to train a bit more and shoot for below 2h! However, don’t want to totally wreck my legs and knees!

Congratulations on winning your age group. I enjoy your videos, and when I can't make it to a race, watching your videos makes it seem like I'm there. John Minervino is a legend. I ran over 200 races with him, and I only beat him in two races, both being short. One was a one-mile race, the Spring Street One Mile, and I finished in 5:31 with John maybe 2 seconds behind. I had my GoPro on my head, and when I watched the video, I said "I'm dying" close to the finish, which I didn't remember saying until I watched the video. The other race was a two-mile race. For all other races, I never even got close to him. He is an amazing runner and amazing person. See you soon at the races. I'm glad both of you are not in my age group. I'm getting close to aging out of 50-59. Also, John not only ran road races in all 169 towns but he also placed in his age group in all 169 towns in CT. By the way, I told John about the video and sent him the link.

I just bought this last week and felt like I am falling off balance rather than get more balance. I don’t feel stable at all or I may just not be a fan of rockers

It could be the rocker, as you say. The stability features are for lateral stability. The rocker is to assist with a smoother roll through. It does take some adjustment if you are not used to it.

i`m 51 yrs old.. just started running few mths ago.. my recent 10km race was 1:13... your video and spirit really inspiring me.. what is your advice for me to run?
@oldmanvanrunning11 күн бұрын
My advice is this: 1. Run most of your miles easy (80%) 2. Don't neglect strength training 3. Be patient. You are NOT too old to make significant progress. 4. Listen to your body...Learn what's normal exercise-related soreness and what's a sign of impending injury. If the latter, pull back or stop before it gets worse. 5. REST...Rest days are critical to allow your body to recover and grow stronger. 6. Get a qualified coach (if possible) to tailor a training plan to your specific goals and needs These are just some of the more important pieces of advice

So what is the rank for the shoes now? Would you recommend 4s or 3s at this point? Also what sizing ? I hear a lot of people saying size up 1/2 size.
@oldmanvanrunning14 күн бұрын
All I can say is that the rating will go up after this race. I will post an update in the next few days if you can wait for that...As for sizing, they fit me true to size. They actually have a bit more room in the toe box than the 3s.

There is NO excuse that the race cheated you out of instant results and an awards ceremony. Thousands of race organizations run several races at the same time, so it IS possible. I know this from doing races for decades and being retired from a software company that has produced much more complicated software programs than race results [like Payroll for an enterprise with 105 thousand employees, etc.] Disgusting! NOT fair to the runners or the sponsors who want the runners to have a great experience.
