You rock. This teardown saved me tons of time and money. I'm a rising footwear designer and decade-long tennis player. I'm developing a concept sole to maximize slide control on hard courts (research backed). Do you have pointers or contacts for people who could help me manufacture prototypes?

Glad it helped - no idea on the manufacturing side- good question

Could you also measure the heel to toe drop of the shoes you cut. Hard to get this info for non running shoes. That would be really informative to us shoe geeks.

Yes of course that would be fun to see - ill start doing that with the next teardown of the GP Turbo's but I will measure all the shoes I've done so far too and put it in the video so just watch out for it in the next teardown video - anything else you'd like to see just let me know

I used to replace my shoes when the outsoles wore out. Modern Gel Resolutions are so durable and I probably keep wearing them far beyond their functional life span. Is there a way to determine when the midsole foam has worn out and the shoes need to be replaced with a fresh pair?

Typically on the side there will be creases that start to form longitudinally / I also usually say no longer than 500 miles

Really enjoy the channel! On all your tear down reviews could you spend a little more time on the forefoot padding? I see alot of attention on the heel, but we are on our forefoot/toes all the time and some shoes really forget this. Res8's seem good though. Great stuff!
@FootDoctorZach4 жыл бұрын
Ill start putting a comment in about that starting in the next teardown - i have also started putting in stack heights and midsole thicknesses - not sure which video I started it with - usually when subscribers ask for stuff it shows up in the next video so keep an eye out- thanks for the feedback!

Is that the same outsole pattern as the Gel Res 7’s? I had some Gel Res 7’s and at my courts they’re very dusty sometimes and I’ve had quite a few slips on push offs to chase drop shots down. I ditched those and got Court FF2s...and have yet to have a slip 😎😊
@FootDoctorZach3 жыл бұрын
It’s a very similar tread but the reason for the slipping is the durability coating it can get slippery on some slicker surfaces whereas the ff2 wave pattern will still stick to the court - much better tread IMO

@FootDoctorZach4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the kind words- I wouldn’t get the GR8- the GP turbo would be mediocre but would do the trick, the Stycon BOA, court ff 2 or yonex eclipsion 3 are probably your best options

I have and love these but have serious issues with hard court sliding damage. My pair is in pristine condition except for the inside of my non-dominant foot. Are there any solutions or alternatives that might solve this issue outside of changing my footwork?
@FootDoctorZach4 жыл бұрын
Yeah it’s just how you are sliding, unfortunately not much is going to resist that kind of heat and friction build up- you can try the court ff which has more outsole material over the toebox and forefoot but you just may be looking at going though shoes with the way you slide

There is suppose to be gel units in the forefoot as well. Did you find them?
@FootDoctorZach4 жыл бұрын
Yeah it was the same as the heel - I try and keep these under 10 min so that’s why I didn’t go nuts trying to dissect them out- if you notice they don’t show up on the cut in half shoe which I found interesting because they should be wide enough to cover the entire forefoot which it isn’t if they can’t be seen on the cut in half shoe- I don’t think it’s a problem because of how much foam is up there as well to provide cushion
@michaelyoong74 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I had dissected some old ASICS & have always been surprised how little gel there is. Look forward to your other dissection videos. Be careful with them sharp tools! You got my subscription!

After demoing, I can't decide which size should I go, a little tight on toes( just foot itself no added is tight) or half bigger (however my ankles knocked quite well) Any opinion thanks~
@FootDoctorZach4 жыл бұрын
I’d go with tighter - the shoe will break in over time but if you have a lot of extra material you may have some instability issues- however if neither size fits well then you may want to look at some different shoes as these may just not like the shape of your foot, it happens with some shoes
@クリームイカ4 жыл бұрын

Now, I do absolutely love these shoes! (albeit I love the gel res 6 and 7 more), but I gotta be honest - I flat out do not like the Dyna Wall. I don't see the point of it, honestly, and it has actually almost caused me to roll my ankle a couple times, because it is concave/in-cut a little bit, and I can't for the life of me figure out what that is good for. Call me stupid if you want to. .... all that being said I DO still love the gel res 8. Asics is absolutely the best whenn you factor in their customer service. Nike's CS left a lot to be desired, and NewBalance's straight up sucked! Asics emplyees are awesome.
