totally agree, I have The Edge and they are so fast, ligth and propulsive, ... btw great combo, Swiftwick socks and Asics Metaspeed Edge! ;) Hugs from Perú!

Awesome video, Evan. Between this and your Endorphin Pro - for the half marathon - which would you prefer? They actually seem kind of similar to me. I tried the Metaspeed Sky and it completely wrecked my calves and right achilles the drop felt almost negative to me. Anyways, would appreciate your take for a half marathon for a middle to back packer running 8:30-9 min/mile for 13.1. Thanks
@blanken12 жыл бұрын
For the 1/2 I just ran I went with this shoe. It has a lot of pop and is lighter than the endorphin pro2. Now for the marathon endorphin pro 2 hands down. The Metaspeed edge doesn’t have the stack height that I like for the 26.2 Just my thoughts

@@blanken1 Very cool. For someone like me with less speed than you, would you still recommend the same shoe for the half or something else? Seems like you really dug the Edge
@blanken12 жыл бұрын
Honestly I would probably say go with something like the endorphin speed. The plate is more forgiving but still adds plenty of pop to your stride. It will a little heavier but overall you won’t notice it and it’s still a light shoe.

Great review 👍 My distance is predominantly 5k and I'm a cadence runner. I've got a few carbon plated shoes. My 2 fastest are the vaporfly v1 and Adidas Adizero adios pro 2.. not sure which is the quickest. Just wondering if you thought the Edge was faster over the shorter distance than these 2?
@blanken13 жыл бұрын
I would think that the edge could/would be especially over the shorter distance. It’s lighter than both and a stiffer carbon plate. Plus the lower stack height gave my a ton of confidence while making turns. I would use this over those 2 for anything up to a 1/2 marathon personally. Thanks for watching.

I’ve been very interested in this shoe, I didn’t get along with any of the max cushion high stack, CP shoes I’ve tried so far on very long runs so am planning on using the Endorphin Speed 2 on my upcoming Oct marathon. I like snug fit in terms of good heel and midfoot lockdown and don’t have a wide foot, but I do not want my toes hitting the front of the shoe. So by “snug” are you and others referring to length? I’m generally a W9 but had to size up in eg the NB Rebel2 (which runs short) to have a little toe space. Please advise! Thanks, Martha PS nice review!

From all the super shoes I have run in they tend to have that snug race-day fit as I call it. All the extra volume is taken out of the shoe. In most cases that also means the extra length you get in some brands is also shortened. For the Metaspeed the length was shortened from other ASICS that I’ve run in. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the review. I’m also a cadence runner. Are there any other super shoes that are also better suited for cadence runners?
@blanken13 жыл бұрын
Great question. I think ASICS is leading the way in designing a shoe for specific running styles. Look for a higher heel-to-toe drop and snappy CFP. For me I liked the Saucony Endorphin Pro 2.

Looks to be the lightest full carbon plated shoe out there. I've been using sketchers speed elite because it's so light which has front plate, but I might try this. Nice review.
@blanken13 жыл бұрын
Yeah the Skechers is lighter but missing the full carbon plate. Plus the ride and fit of this sure is fantastic! Thanks for watching!

@@blanken1 in my younger years I'd have worn something like sketchers speed elite in marathon. But now I'm older and mainly racing under half marathons. Most of the carbon shoes seem to be built for marathon and just weigh too much for shorter races, but this may be the shoe.
@blanken13 жыл бұрын
@@cakej1 I took it to just under 18 and felt great. I would do a marathon personally but easily recommend for a fast 1/2.

@@blanken1 I'm looking to run a 12k, so the lighter the better. So I'm up in the air between getting a new pair of sketchers or paying the big price for these Asics. Not sure it's worth it for an extra $100
@blanken13 жыл бұрын
That’s the major downfall of the shoe but I am very happy with it. Most likely will be my pick for upcoming 1/2.

Do you think this is good shoe for supination?
@blanken13 жыл бұрын
It will be like most other race shoes, there is no built in support or structure that prevents/aids in pro or supination. I think this would be a race shoe that would do better than some of the other current options due to the lower stack height. Another you may want to look at it the Speed Freek by Skechers, the way it does it’s winglet design may help. Hope that helps.

@@blanken1 yeh i thoughts so. But that price is steep, even more in Australia
@blanken13 жыл бұрын
My biggest complaint about the shoe is the price. Everything else it excellent. Make sure there is a good return policy if it doesn’t work out for you.

Does the drop feel like 8mm or does it feel like a lower drop?
@blanken13 жыл бұрын
Yeah great question, it down few more like a 6mm drop shoe to me. I think the lower overall stack helps it feel like a lower drop shoe. It’s super snappy and a fun ride.

@@blanken1 thanks for the reply. I'm trying to wait to see it they release a new color. I already have the sky, and don't want another shoe in the exact same color

Understand that. Although I’m really liking this color way. Plus being a Tokyo model it’s a neat little bonus to have the matching set.

I got the Sky (Which was stable enough) but i tend to like lower stack shoes and a bit stiff and stable (thats why i got the Magic speed) and am curious about the Edge.................but that PRICE! I wish i had both .
@blanken13 жыл бұрын
Same here, I wish I would’ve been able to get my hands on both. So far I’m loving the edge. And 100% agree, the price is hard to deal with.

Ive been using Edge for about 2 months with approx. 130miles. Ive made couple new records specially on half marathon. It is true, this shoes give energy reserve and u can run longer with less effort. Just the downside, it takes couples of run to break-in as i bought same size as my Kayanos. I guess opt for half size up could be better choice. And my left outer sole seems to be worn out faster than my right. Anyway is a great shoes, despite the price is at hight sight. 🙂

Hi guys. Thanks for the review Evan and Lilya for you comments…. I have always gone for size 9.5 in Asics, I just got the edge shoes, and as you said they are snug fit, how ever there are a little bit of space between my toe and the end of the shoe (not the Same space than the other Asics I have had)…so my question for you guys is, if despite of not going up for a half size, have you had issues or injuries due to the snug fitting ? Does you toe hit the shoe? Thanks in Advanced
@blanken13 жыл бұрын
I just raced a 15k in them with decent elevation and had zero issues. My toes do not hit in them but are pretty close.
