ASICS Noosa Tri 16 - THE BEST SHOE OF 2024? First Impressions

In this video I give my first thoughts on the ASICS Noosa Tri 16. The previous 2 versions of the Noosa Tri have been some of my favourite shoes that I have tested and reviewed to date. How do ASICS improve a shoe that almost ticked all the boxes last year?

I have the Tri 14 and 15 and loved the geometry in both, similar to yourself. I will definitely be picking up a pair. Your review is very helpful. 👍Only issue for me was the sizing so it is good to know they are TTS. Also, I like this more muted colorway as an option. Thanks for reviewing this shoe.

Ride geometry - the most underrated metric. Probably because it's so difficult to quantify. I think Asics takes this metric more serious than most other brands. Shoes like the Noosa, the Evoride and Novablast punch above their weight because of this

Thanks. I have the Noosa Tri 14 and the geometry is great but it feels like not enough underfoot with the FlyteFoam. My current favorite daily trainer is the Adizero SL2 but I was thinking of the Noosa Tri 16, Adios 9, or Hyperion 2 to complement it. I'll be keeping an eye out for your full review. Not a lot of people will be testing this shoe.

Great review and excited about the new Noosa! I'll be happy if the rocker is in fact "earlier". I love the Glideride 3 which has that "longer" and more gradual rocker whereas my Evoride Speeds (basically = Noosa 15) have a more abrupt and later rocker which isn't quite as nice. Very excited to see what the new Glideride will feel like when it launches later this year. We need at least one stiff and rockered daily trainer!

Really enjoy your videos. How’s the fit of the Noosa 16 compared to the Novablast 4? I found the Noosa 15 a touch short.

Awesome review! Also really enjoyed the comparisons to Rebel 4 and March 6 (in your other videos). Do you think the Noosa 16 could work for recovery runs or dash too stiff for this?

I had the 13 and i liked the geometry, and comfortable upper . Only downside was the thin forefoot . Looks like this fixed that.

Great review, I have the 15. Is there more energy return from the midsole in the 16? Same low drop?

@@i.p2088 feels a tad softer than the 15 maybe a touch more bounce but nothing really noticeable, same drop. The rocker feels better for me in this version, not sure if it's been tweaked or the new foam is responsible for that. Enjoying the 16 more than the previous versions.

i have to agree with @run-are. Had 14, 15 and now 16 and the best bounce is in 16 for me. I would say that 16 are much more as 14 but with more cushion around. Nevertheless a good breathability is still there.

I have the 14, absolutely love it. It's time for a new one. The 15 was too small at 13 and I refused to buy a 14 lol I think you said it's firmer than the 14? 14 is already very firm. I don't like any of the colors for this one unfortunately. I loved the 14-15 colors ...this one is just messy. And I love the rocker...this shoe was the first one where I tried on in the store and it leaned me forward...I said "whoa" and bought it on the spot. So good to hear it's the same if not more evident.

Greeting from Northampton UK! I have just purchased a pair direct from Asics UK - despite the 15 being heavily discounted by 60% - am i crazy?. You are a good salesman. Just a question - whats your take on not running in super shoes too much = ie with plates and do the concerns about running too much in the plated options extend to say the Super Blast. I feel there is a potential problem there with more and more elites being cautious. Tom Evans - western states champ and international cross country runner UK - says he doesnt train in the Adidas Plaited Trail Shoes - the Ultra - he uses a less stiff training version. Would appreciate your take / experience on this!

I agree, I don't think running in plated shoes all the time is ideal. I am not sure about the scientific and bio mechanic stats but for me I feel that a carbon plated shoe takes its toll on my calves and achilies. Now that also could be because when I am running in a carbon plated shoe I am running faster than usual so just the speed in itself puts more load on those areas. Another big one for me is if you run in your super shoes too much you desensitise that 'magic feeling' they have. On race day I want to feel fast and a putting on a pair of shoes that feel different to all your other shoes, shoes that are really bouncy, responsive and feel super fast is a great start to get that magic going on raceday.

wow it looks like they fixed the heel collar. I really like the 15, but the collar kind of 'taco-ed' and gave me a bloody mess of a blister over achilles. so my choice is between wearing socks (which messes with my allodynia) or to duct tape each time I use them... the 16 looks promising!

@@tomasangelomena6866 I'd prefer this shoe! The difference is the rockered geometry in the Noosa, very easy to run in. The SL2 is more of a traditional ride. About the same softness.

Could it replace Novablast 3? Novablast 4 is for some reason not working for me so I’m looking for a new similar to NB3, Mach 6, SL2 et.c

@@brtarr it's nothing like a Novablast, if you love a rockered feeling in your shoe you should get along with this one. For me the Mach 6 would be most similar to the Nova 3 but I'd prefer to run in the Noosa.

@@tehhalia903 yes it's a bit wider as it's a bigger fit than last year. The 15 was 1/2 size too small where as the 16 is true to size

@@run-are I love my glideride 3 so was going to ask you how you thought these (Noosa 16s) felt compared with the Glideride 3. Will need to retire the glideride soon so will look at these as an option!

@@rugbymatt07 the Noosa is soooo much lighter and not near as stiff. The foam is a little softer. The Glideride is a tank, will feel more stable and the rocker will be more noticeable due to the stiffness. Think of the Noosa as a super stripped down version of the Glideride.

Dear ASICS: I tested in the store, exactly what I was looking for, a low racing show with the best foam available & WITHOUT plate, but the colors are atrocious and I couldn't pull the trigger. Unacceptable.🤦‍♂
