Been an ASICS fan for years. I always felt they were criminally underrated and it’s great to see them getting the credit they deserve since the first Novablast. I’ve loved both the first and second version so much that I actually own two of each. Got my first pair of Novablast 1’s to over 1000km. First pair of the 2’s nearly on 800km and still plenty of life in them. Really looking forward to getting the 3’s which I will do very soon. Other ASICS shoes I’ve loved: Superions, Dynaflyte 3 (amazing), Noosa Tri 11 and even tho good old GT 2000’s from like ten years ago.

I just couldn’t get on with the Glide Ride tho. Had to ditch them after less than 100 miles. They killed my feet for some reason.

Had v2 but found I could always feel a bit of a lump from that central island on the outsole, and found they lost their pop after around 150 miles. Will be interested in some long term reviews for these to see how the new foam lasts

Asics has been on 🔥🔥🔥 this year imho. They have dropped some real bangers. Meta Speed Sky+, Gel Kayano 29, Glide ride 3, Magic Speed 2, The Gel Nimbus Lite, and now the Novablast 3.

I loved the Novablast 2 so much bought a second one, the second pair seemed to have a defect with the fit was very obvious the first time I tried it on outside the shop, brought it back to have it changed. Instead of the black livery which I was returning they had ran out in my size, they gave me a Platinum version for the same price and I wasn't complaining, however after about 5 runs I realized, although not as worse as what it replaced, this too did not fit too well, not as well as the very first Novablast 2 I have. Now getting a Novablast 3 to add to the already two previous versions, very good shoe, but because they run just a bit too long like the 2's, make sure you get a proper fit that suits your feet, otherwise you don't get the full benefit of the sole bending/flexing/bouncing/propelling at the right spots/creases underfeet and it does strange ''things'' alien.

Regarding the ''fitment problem'' with the Novablasts as they are a bit long in size, I found a way to 'remedy' it greatly. Because the Novablast 2 and 3 runs a bit long for their size, I think this 'elongates' the sole, even a few milimeters of lengthening somehow reduces the ''topography'' of how to sole correlates with under the wearers foot bottom, for me the below arch area would bottom out more so on the left foot. Anyways, I tried different insoles I have and found out an insole from a trail running shoe with slight more material under arch worked very well, infact so well that merely changing the insole remedies about 80-90 percent of the complaint I had with the second pair or Novablast 2's I have, it also added more lateral structure allowing faster runs around corners. Just mix and match your insoles from other shoes/boots with your Novablast shoes if it does not already please you, it might do wonders for you.

Completely agree with you on the stability part. Have the novablast 2, I can feel it collapses on the medial side when running, and I confirmed it by filming myself. Not sure that slight improvement means much for runner like me. I think this is a general problem for most new neutral shoes, more stack, softer midsole -- compresses the most on area with the most impact/force, namely the arch/medial side because most people don’t have a perfect stride and the foot naturally rolls inward/pronates.

Speed is more versatile. I run in both but i prefer the Novablast. for me the Speed is too close to the Alphafly but it can t get you where the Alphafly can and it s a bit too much of a beast to only be used as a daily trainer.

Been marathon training in the Novablast 2’s & loving them. Managed to pick up a second pair on sale for £55 2 weeks ago! the 2’s seem to wear really quickly around the middle part of the mid sole (around the oblong and of harder rubber) - so be interested to see if these do the same. Assumption is if these are on par or better than the 2’s they will be great!

I haven’t tried the 3 yet and may not considering my experience with the 2. I seem to be one of the few people who can’t run in this series. I felt the 2 was fun to run in, but even if I only went a short distance (5 km) and stretched afterwards my lower body would be completely beat up the next day; more so than in any other shoe I’ve run in. Has anyone else had this problem with the Novablast? It would be interesting to hear your thoughts on the softness of the Novablast 3 vs. the Glideride 3, as I’m looking at the latter as a long-run shoe to complement my daily trainer.

Mine arrived last night after seeing the US reviews you mentioned. Took them out for 8 miles of easy/tempo running this morning. Super comfortable, lovely bounce and fun to run with decent pace. HOWEVER, I totally agree that as a slight pronator, I'm a little disappointed that they aren't more stable. They feel quite similar to the Speeds 3, but perhaps the Speeds are a little more stable for me, that I was not expecting. Not sure I could use them for very long runs. Maybe I should've tried the Glideride instead ...

These are 8mm drop. Quite like the v2, but the heel is a bit too lumpy and obtrusive for my liking

Been loving my Asics for few years, came back into them with Glideride 1 whilst weighing up against Novablast 1, found it to be a superb shoe! Also grabbed an Evoride 1 at same time for my rotation, which is great. Went to Glideride 2 late last year, always felt clunky over the 1 and just don't enjoy it, so went Nova 2 earlier this year to start my Marathon block. Worked superbly for it, was considering using it on race day even. Found it great for my slight heelstrike when fatiguing and very comfortable on long runs. Decided last weekend to try out Endorphin Speed 3 as Novablast 3 never came in stock where I use, amazing shoe, feels like a cross between all 3 Glideride, Evoride and Novablast just without the clunk! I'll probably pick up a Nova 3 next year somewhen now, as keen to give it a go, looking forward to your full review of it and see if it's worth picking up or waiting for the sales.

I've just finished a 2h20' slow long run in the Novablast 3 & I think I like it more for an hour run than my typical slow long run. Btw, The shoe is a bit long. I wear half a size down with thin socks & the fit is great.

I had stability issues with shoes like the Speed 1 and did a trail marathon in the Novabalst 3 TR without issues I think that the shoe is actually more stable than it feels at the beginning because I was slightly worried after my first short runs in it but it just worked really well for me but everyone has different mechanics and it is definetly not a really stable neutral shoe

Could not run in V2. The drop was to prominent and I found the midsole blah... Speed 2 & 3 vastly better. Might try the Novablast 3 at a reasonable discount..

Bought these to try and see what all the hype was about.... only haf a few runs in them and am finding it seems to absorb some of your stride...... taking away from my run leaving me a tad more tired on my run... always wore the gt2000 up until this as I was afraid to change. But had to try something different. A bit disappointed to be honest. It was between this and the saucony speed 3.....

Medium distance and pace run in the NB3 this morning. Initially felt a bit 'too' bouncy but with a bit of stiffness thrown in but seemed to settle in after a while. A bit noisy (even louder than my wife's Endorphin Speeds, and that's saying something!) Anyway, I've got the Asics 90 day no questions asked returns option, but I feel they will be keepers even if I'm not entirely convinced they're the best shoes of the year...

Yup, the first version had terrible stability, and the second was better, and they seemed to improve it with a better heel counter and a weird Ridgey looking midsole. It was better, but still not stable enough. I'm willing to try the third, because I do think the side flares might will help with stability, so appreciate the review. Your point about Achilles irritation is a good one. Soft, unstable heels will irritate your Achilles

@@phylosophdotcom it's a good idea, but I'll have to sneak them past the Mrs as I'm overloaded with running shoes. She noticed the Takumi Sen 8 after I had them hidden in the cupboard for a few weeks 🤣 As for plated shoes I do agree, though now I run probably 60pc in plated. Best daily is speed 2,best easy day is new balance lerato (comparing to the more v3 and invincible which are also great) and also ts8 for short speed sessions and races and af2 for longer speed and races. Really tempted to put my money towards another pair of leratos in white as I can't imagine a better more comfortable running shoe and I'm worried they will stop making them.
