ASICS Novablast 5 | Is Softer Better?

Love the colorway. I usually buy the previous year’s version to save money, but I am tempted to get the 5’s instead of the 4’s.

Thanks for sharing your experience with a narrow foot in the Novablast 5. I have a wide foot and assumed this shoe wasn’t for me because it doesn’t come in wide but now I’m more inclined to try it. Great 👟 review and have a great day. In general I love the ASICS Nimbus 25 and Hoka Mach 6.

Another great review! As always I enjoy your honesty. Looking forward to this one , went through a couple pairs of NB4 and got along with them well. Wow me? Not that much , but found them to be a solid good daily shoe for me. The 5 seems to have made the tweaks I was looking for.

THAT colorway is 🔥! I really love my Novablast 4. It's well cushioned, bouncy, and have some responsiveness to it. It's really a fun shoes to run in. I do hope they can take the fun feeling to Novablast 5. I definitely will try it once it's available in my country.

Asics has 8 different colorways coming out for the Novablast 5, so if someone doesn't like that colorway, there are other choices. I am a heelstriker with a tall midfoot, so I like the extra foam in the heel and the room in the upper. The rear foam in NB4 has enough rebound to feel like it's rocking. I am on my 2nd NB4, and the NB5 will stay in my rotation with the Brooks Glycerin Max, Hyperion Max, and hopefully, for Christmas the SB2.

I have a wide foot and I get heel slippage on the 4's also. Was hoping they would change that in the 5's. The 3's were a perfect shoe for me. I bought 6 pairs and still have 2 deadstock. Zero issues with the 3. Glad to hear the 5's are wide though. The 4's slimmed down a bit and felt tighter on me than the 3's. Will definitely grab a pair and see how they did with these.

Can't remember the channel but they measure a ton of shoes and put the Novablast 4 near the 90th percentile of shoe width for models categorized as standard width. Might be an option!

I’m slightly wider foot and novablast 3 fit perfectly and 4 still fit ok as well. Didn’t try prior versions but not a super narrow shoe.

I use the v4 for long runs. They are very light, stable and extremely durable. Not encouraged by the sounds of this new softer foam tbh. Will buy a pair but am also buying a couple of v4s on sale. Thanks for the review beautiful.

The 4 gave me knee pain on any run over 10ks mostly on the lateral side of my right knee. Very much wanted to love the shoe but didn’t like it much if I’m honest. I think the Superblast 1 and 2 are probably the best shoes I’ve ever run in, so trust me I want to love the Novas. Might wait a little longer before pulling the trigger on the 5. Sorta hyped on the Evo SL by adidas if I’m honest

I love the color way and I would be lying if I said that wasn’t a (large) part of why I’m interested in these 😅 Also I had a great experience in the Superblast 2s after swearing off Asics for a few years, so I’m looking at expanding my shoe rotation a little more to include more of them.

As crazy as it sounds, I only just got the Novablast 4 and love them, lots of cushion, good transition, good fit, just wish they were a bit more responsive... my wish it seems has come true and I won't wait 11 months to get this version. The colorway is ok. it's not bad but also not the best.

I loved the NB1 (wore out 2 pairs), sold my NB2s because they felt dead and boring, love the NB3s (just started using my 2nd pair), haven’t tried the 4s yet. I’ll probably give the NB5s a shot, but I have narrow feet, so I might actually go for the women’s version in this one.

Nice review. I have narrow feet (the glycerin max was wayyy to roomy for me), so I think I will have to skip this one, unfortunately. Another reviewer with narrow feet had the same problem.

I have a pair of fresh foam nb I got cheap I still can't figure out whether I like or hate them massive amount of cushioning but feels like an overkill idk I think I just rather have something with adequate cushioning but not outrageous amounts

I’m slowly becoming an ASICS concert (past versions have been too narrow & wides were dull colours). My go to daily has been the OG Saucony Tempus (v2 not as good even tho they say it’s only upper tweaks). In your opinion , does Novablast 5 compare to Tempus ? Or to Superblast

I didn't like the 3 but loved the 4 as a daily trainer. I doubt I'll be buying the 5 if it's softer, I'll either get another cheap pair of 4s or it will be back to the saucony rides. I have the Mach 6 as well to fill the bouncy responsive shoe role.

I just wish they could recapture the magic of the 2. The first time I ran in that felt awesome. The 3 was really disappointing. I have the 4s which were almost impossible to get and they are better than the 3. I guess we’ll see with the 5s.

More watching, reading and learning aboout the Novablast 5, I think, I will pick another pair of 3s 😂But still I am tempted to buy the 5. I love the Nimbus, but if the 5 is really like a "light nimbus", hmmm, most probably then not 😄 Anyway, I will order it from Asics, try it at home, if not, I can send it back. Actually I know from the first step, if this is a shoe for me.

Do yoy guys really find version 3 responsive? I have it and to me it feels really sluggish, clunky and I my forefoot always slaps the ground especially at slower paces.

@@radoslavstoev4550agreed i actually prefer 4 to 3 . The 3 was a slow slightly sluggish bottom heavy shoe for me. I may pick up another 4 or just abandon this line of shoes . Don’t want a mushy foam in the midsole.

Now I heard, that the NB 5 is wider than the 3, also not good for me, my feet are narrow and it runs longer than the 4 😅Difficult! But, as you said, why changing a model completely 😅

Sorry Heller, that colour is horrible, it would have been a lot better if the mid-sole was white at least to break it up. I have NB4 in the limited edition lightshow aqua/blue/green colourway with white midsole and IMO it looks 100x better. I don't have any issues with the NB4 upper, but more breathable is always welcome. I guess the NB is suffering by not offering wide fitments and trying to have a one-size fits all and pleases no-one. I have a wider foot so luckily for me the NB is fine in standard width, but I could not have gone any narrower. Intially I thought my NB4 had some springiness, but after buying the Hoka Mach 6, it's a long way behind that for bounce. I wish Asics would use supercritical foams if they aren't going to give us PEBA based foams. Hoka and Puma are killing it with those supercritical foams IMO. It would be nice to compare the NB5 to the Glide Ride Max.
