the superblast 2 is very light, it is not very soft but reactive and bouncy, the tread compound has better friction than the novablast 5

Good to know, is it worth £65 more in your opinion?

@Runnabl3-ed 50 pounds more surely, then if you have to prepare a marathon superblast are the right choice.

Depends. Not for me they were too firm. Somewhere between SB2 and Novablast 5 would be perfect for me. @@Runnabl3-ed

I think your remark regarding shoe reviewers’ fixation on weight is spot on. Weight does matter, but The emphasis being placed on it is just too much. Do you know if any research has been done on this?

Thanks and very good question. As far as I can see most of the research tells us that weight does matter. But here is the catch! The research is primarily done on elite athletes, and on Race shoes. For none elite Athletes weight is a factor when racing, but my point is really that picking a stable comfortable shoe with good energy return, for most people is a vastly more important factor than weight. This fact is lost on some reviewer when reviewing Shoes like the Cielo X1 etc My bet is drinking less pints of 🍺 will have a much bigger effect on running times than losing 40 grams on a shoe. Maybe less fun though 😂

"Lighter is faster, but is it better?" Don’t sacrifice comfort in pursuit of speed, advises Hoogkamer. When shoe mass is reduced by removing cushioning, it actually causes runners to expend more energy absorbing shock from each foot strike. Weight should be only one factor of many in the shoe selection process. Luckily, extra cushioning doesn’t have to mean extra weight. Three shoes that strike that tricky balance: link - www.triathlete.com/gear/run/much-weight-running-shoes-affect-speed/

@@Runnabl3-ed thanks. Intuitively, this sounds very right. Also I think personal experience is so important with running shoes. Most of the fun is in the journey, that’s one reason I really like your channel. Keep it up and thank you
