I think I recall a similar situation with the originals. It’ll be interesting to see if they try to catch up to the demand. I was surprised at how hard these are to find at retail

I feel it is even more stable than the Nova Blast 4 and matches the amazing stability of my Gel-Kayano 31. The Superblast 2 is also, probably, the best "racer " that someone with severe overpronation could use. All the other shoes are either too narrow and not worth using, even with the carbon plate . Too unstable and energy sapping if you overpronate too much and/or heel strikes. Indeed, the SuperBlast 2 is one of the best sites ever created and anyone could use then !

After 100 miles in the SBV2, they are great at MP/HMP. Beyond that just isn't their purpose. Anything shorter than 2hrs seems like a waste of time to use them. That's where "insert random daily trainer" comes in. Mine is the Novablast V3. My primary rotation is NB V3, SB V2, Tempo Next%, AF V3. And I sometimes will slip in an old pair of Invincible V2's in there so I'm not forced to use the Novablasts on back to back days. Completely agree with using the SB V2 as an emergency marathon/half shoe on race day.

For any U.K. based viewers struggling to buy these as permanently out of stock, I purchased from the US.. $200 vs. £200 so cheaper. When you add in the shipping they work about £215.. but at least you can get them!

I have both versions, V1 and v2. The V2 has some small tweaks from the V1. The upper is a bit better. The bounce is a bit better and the rocker is a bit better. The oursole is suppose to be a bit better but I haven’t noticed the difference. However, one thing, the V2 fits a bit snug on the foot, more than V1 and one of my toes was in pain from wearing them until they broke in. I would say that V2 is better, but not by enough to need to get it over the V1 and most people should get a discounted V1 and save money.
@FreshBrewRunClub2 ай бұрын
Yeah, I have not ran in the v1, but from what I’ve read, it sounds like they didn’t change a ton. Which makes sense, based on how much people love the v1

I took risk and bought v1 in half size down. Can use, and in love. THX for this comment, now i know not to go half down in v2.

It takes about 20 to 40 K to break in the foam and flex depending on your weight. They last for mega miles which helps reduce the sting of the price tag.

@FreshBrewRunClub2 ай бұрын
Interesting, I’ve been curious about the Novablasts for a while.
@CorGP2 ай бұрын
Only superior in long and tempo runs. The novablast is more versatile and can do everything the superblast can, just with more effort needed to do it. The $60 price difference puts the novablast over the superblast for me. To sum it up, the superblast is a very specific tool that is amazing at doing that. The novablast does everything very well.
@sicathcart4301Ай бұрын
I use Novablast 4TR for slow easy runs especially in the wet or autumn/winter conditions. It slows me down to the pace I should be going Plus it stops me wearing Superblast 2 all the time! SB2 for everything else, such a good shoe. Also use NB Rebel V4 for faster workouts and treadmill now and again to give my SB2 a break 😂

ASICS US has launched three new colorways today, but unfortunately I can’t order a pair because RW is holding my preorder hostage until they have this shoe in stock. This is mildly infuriating. 😠

Asics released only 1 new color in black and white, and they ship on the 5th of September. I ordered them with a $20 discount by joining their membership club for free. Running Warehouse isn't shipping the new black color until the middle of October. I can't believe RW won't let you cancel the order. That sounds unethical and highly suspicious. If you used a credit card, cancel the payment thru your bank.

Great video. However, I just did another 15 miles in the Super Blast 2. Great shoe but the upper is eh... It's not great when it's wet. The show soaks up sweat like a sponge. It's not great in warm humid conditions (although is any shoe great in warm conditions).

Good review 👍 You must have a lot of trust in StockX lol - myself would not buy from them hyped (and as such faked in numbers) running shoe like SB og or 2 .... dont believe they authentication can differ fake from original taking fakes can be as good as orginals this days. Not massive problem with life style shoe but fake foam on running shoe would make it unusable at the gate .
@FreshBrewRunClub2 ай бұрын
StockX’s verification is excellent. When it comes to running shoes, I personally think manufacturing issues are a bigger problem

@FreshBrewRunClub Asics is releasing new colors this month. You'll be able to get them at $200 and not pay any extra fees above that. You can get them at Running Warehouse. They give you 90 days to try them out. If your not satisfied for any reason, you can return them used. Then if it's too much shoe for you, exchange them for the Topo Spector 2 which has a lower stack height at 37. That shoe also has a forefoot rocker, plateless and a midsole thats 100% pebax. Plus it's $35 cheaper.
@jefreywith1f9242 ай бұрын
Retraction. Running Warehouse just posted for pre-order the black and white color scheme. It's not being shipped until October 19. Not sure if I'm digging that color or not. I kinda wish they were a darker shade of black. The Asics website, on the other hand, says the black/white ready to be shipped Sept. 5. Can't wait until Oct 19, so just ordered the black/white one's from Asics at a discount of $180 for signing up for the OneAsics membership for free.

There's research titled, "Running in highly cushioned shoes increases leg stiffness and amplifies impact loading" - Kulmala. Another by Miles A. Mercer concluded no gains in running economy from max cushion shoes. All the glitters is not gold.
@FreshBrewRunClub2 ай бұрын
This is not a true max cushion shoe though, it’s a high-end daily trainer. Starting with the second study (which only had 10 participants), it concludes that “wearing a running shoe with maximal cushioning will not negatively influence running economy from a physiological perspective.” People shouldn’t be demanding performance out of max cushion trainers, which aligns with my thoughts on the massive More V5. The first study (sample size of 12) compared a 10-year-old shoe and a thirteen-year-old shoe. Thats a lifetime in running shoe technology, especially in midsole foam. If a minimalist shoe, retro trainer, or running barefoot works for you, that’s great. But I’d argue, these shoes are in fact, gold.

@@FreshBrewRunClub What shoe are you going to have this shoe replace in your rotation? And what shoe are you replacing for the Peg Plus?
@brandanscheller2 ай бұрын
@@FreshBrewRunClubI also learned from “The Lost Art of Running” that max cushion shoes only negatively impact the runner if they have bad form since the cushion doesn’t give the runner a good amount of proprioception in their feet. Max cushion and low proprioception leads to the runner not being aware of bad technique or improving it. So, the takeaway, max cushion shoes can save legs if the runner has good, efficient, (running tall and planting solid) running form!
@Matt-cp9wh2 ай бұрын
If you do strength training and plyometric and then you run in cushioned shoes on the road you will be able to asorb and survive higher mileage then other runners. yes the shoe makes a difference but you still need to strengthen your legs and make them robust either way. the shoe changes plus knowledge of leg strengthening has resulted in athletes tolerated significantly higher mileage. 100miles used to be a lot. today that number is 200+ km. its a new world with this technology and athletes are adapting
@therapygrind2 ай бұрын
@@Matt-cp9wh "Researchers from the Spaulding National Running Center at the Harvard Medical School in Cambridge, MA, have found that running in highly cushioned shoes is not associated with lower impact forces than conventional running shoes. Instead, the investigators found highly cushioned (HC) shoes result in a significantly higher vertical average load rate (VALR) and vertical instantaneous loading rate (VILR), both of which have been associated with overuse injuries such as tibial stress fractures and plantar fasciitis. The findings were presented in May at the annual meeting of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) in San Diego" - PK Daniel.
