I love the original SB! They are so versatile, great for any run up to and including tempo/half marathon pace for me. They've lasted great as well - I'm 600+ km in, and they're better now than when they were brand new - so i think they're good value over the lifetime of the shoe despite the high purchase price. They're the only max cush shoe that has worked for me, I've really not got on with heavier, and to me, clunky shoes like the Nimbus 25 or NB More. Would definitely buy the SB2 if i could find a pair!

@@EDDBUD I agree to that but tempo runs of more than 30k long my legs were not really sore and did not feel really exhausted with prime x strung. I did my first run in them today. 8km. They feel firm, not as much bounce as Lightstrike Pro. They seem supportive, no bottoming out, and have the ability to run slow with a rolling cadence and can pick up the pace and give that forefoot support because they almost feel carbon plated. Seem as if its a one shoe collection that can do it all, and my other purchases were not required. I hope they soften as i use them. @@EDDBUDthis is the biggest thing I noticed, too (and maybe worth another mention in a vid about these higher stack shoes): I was initially surprised at how firm they felt compared to something like the newer Saucony Triumphs and was expecting it to hurt, but the Triumph 22 always left me feeling sore after my longer runs. The more-firm-yet-still-responsive foams like the FF Turbo+ end up “sharing the load” so to speak and keep you rolling, rather than just making you feel like you’re walking on clouds. After all, you probably wouldn’t want a squishy hiking pole for an ultra run :)

And they are still feeling really well. Sole is also still holding up fine. I know I'm covered for my 2 hour long runs until mid 2025 for sure. As I think I will get at least 600 km or even more out of one pair!

I agree with you for the most part. It took around 80 - 100k for it break in and start feeling good. Before that it felt like running empty milk cartons and I felt perplexed by the hype. Now I'm around 300k in and I enjoy them for my long runs especially if there is some threshold/marathon pace work. The downsides for me, is although it's light, it still a very big bulky shoe and on some terrain you really feel that. One of my long run routes includes some light trail, it's mostly fine on that but if you hit a rock or root it can easily fire you off awkwardly and because of the size of the foot print I find that happens more often than in a more normal size shoe. This last weekend I took it to my local park run and did a 20min 5km, it felt like that was it's pace limit there, it handled it, but felt I would have found it easier in something more nimble. On the up side tho, my feet always come out if feeling really good, never beaten up. I'm really on the fence on if I should get another pair once these wear out or not.

I've yet to find a suitable replacement for the Tempo Next - currently running in the Boston 12 and have them up to 200 miles, but really not enjoying them and just waiting until they've done enough miles to ditch them and move on. Nothing else I have found provides that "do it all" capability along with a high level of comfort, without feeling heavy or jarring. Loving the Streakfly, particularly as they are cheap, but they're low stack and simply wear out quickly.

This is one shoe I really want to try. Currently using the Gel Nimbus 26 and it’s fantastic. I’ve honestly had more success with ASICS than any other shoe brand (regarding running). Interesting that you mentioned PS5 Pro scalpers not making money off them. This is simply because the original PS5 launched with heavy covid restrictions which severely hindered their production and caused a chip shortage. PlayStation have been running at full steam for a while now, though, so even with the high sales the PS5 Pro is having (Sony reports very strong sales that are exceeding expectations), it shouldn’t go out of stock. Love your videos, by the way. I, myself, was always one of the “music people” throughout my life. Always seeking out new music, suggesting songs and albums to people, and hanging out with like-minded people, in that regard. It’s one of those hobbies where there’s always something new to discover and connect to. Whenever I’m in a drought, as far as finding great music I’ve never heard before goes, I just start searching different decades and branching out to different genes. It’s fun and rewarding.

We chatted about these on Strava Edd as you had done a run in them and I mentioned that I couldn’t find them anywhere. Luckily they released the new white colourway the day after and I secured a pair. Initially I was disappointed and 100% felt like they had been overhyped. Genuinely felt like I’d been conned. I had spent £200 on the firmest trainers I had ever run in. I was worried for my knees 😂 Just no responsiveness or energy return and they felt clunky. I was considering sending them back and spending the money on a pair of carbon racers, but I persevered. After 66 miles in them, they are a completely different shoe. They feel lighter, more responsive, more comfortable. I generally try to rotate the trainers I wear as much as possible but I keep reaching for them. Very happy. I finally understand the hype now. But, that first pair is coming up on 600 miles and honestly I can’t tell much difference underfoot between them and the newer pair (which are currently around 150 miles now). I just did a 3:30 marathon in the newer pair last weekend and they took great care of my legs all the way through.

I had hyped up the original asics superblast and it disappointed me massively. I suffered them about a year and once I found a good sale price I bought the novablast 4 and found the mizuno wave flash 2 on sale for 80. Both massively better than the original superblast and the mizuno flash 2 I would go as far to say the best running shoe I have wore to date, hugely impressed with this.

I got these and the Mach 6 at the same time, and the Mach feels flat and almost lifeless by comparison. I'm debating returning the Mach 6 and just rotating these with my trusty Ride 17.

Use them in 30 k tempo run, first 2 8 m strides felt wierd, super bouncier and a litlle tight but in the last 10 k it started to pick up. Super confurtable. It Will be the long distance Shoe for me

ASICS need to get some more in production- they would easily clear the stock as there are loads of runners (me included) desperate to get their hands on them, especially with Xmas around the corner. It might be good business sense not to overproduce an expensive shoe but when shoes get the ‘hype’ treatment they always sell- thinking about the vaporfly, alphafly, original endorphin speed etc. Ed, give asics a nudge will you? 😂

Hey edd, thanks for the video. I had a question regarding the upper. As compared to the verison 1 is it more comfortable? I always struggled with the lockdown in Superblast 1. I have about 400 miles in them so I wanted to upgrade. Is the upper more accommodating?
@EDDBUD12 күн бұрын
Better upper. More foot hugging. Though a half size down is preferable.

Thank you for your video. At least one running enthusiast on KZbin felt that the Superblast 2 felt hard on landings, clunky and too stiff. What do you think? I am frustrated with Asics policy regarding availability of their running shoes as they are creating a fabricated shortage of some shoes. Also, the range of colourways for Superblast 1 and Nimbus 25 were much more exciting and vibrant than those offered by Superblast 2 and Nimbus 26. It almost felt as if Asics recruited a boring new designer to create the newer versions.

Thanks Eddbud. Interesting as always. Ref. AVAILABILITY, we had the UK Sales manager and our sales rep in here at The Complete Runner Ilkley on Friday. They were showing us shoes available from June 2025. So we will order 6 months in advance. The "top" neutral shoe being offered to us is the NIMBUS. The top support shoe being KAYANO. So despite having an Asics account for 40 years we cannot even buy the Superblast or Meta models. Are we bothered? Not really. I'm happy at the moment with a price ceiling of £180. Restricted access to this model means I guess the majority of purchases will be online and that means a great number of runners who need support will IMHO be buying the wrong shoe. So often we have runners coming in complaining of injury having clearly bought the wrong shoe for them online. SHOE? No matter what the durometer of the foam is at 47 mms heel stack there is surely stability issues for l for many and if used for racing near 300 gms is surely on the top side? . When racing at best (2.25 marathon) I would be looking for a shoe at nearer 200gms. CHRISTMAS? Clearly what is out there now in any make , any model is what there is this: unless it is an VERY late arriving Autumn/ Winter season model coming in OR more like a very early Spring Summer model being made available in December. EC0? We were told that the waste from sugar cane production is used in the manufacture of such models! Terry Lonergan MD Complete Runner/ Fastrax Running

Hoka mach x2 is better for bit faster paces runs, Brooks Hyperion max 2 is a way smoother ride, Brooks glycerin max is better for long runs, BUT, and it's big but, my legs feel so much fresher the next day after running in the superblast 2. I can do a half marathon in them, and do it again the next day without my legs or the shoe feeling dead. I think that is it's biggest strength
@irepresentthepeople16 күн бұрын
mine are in the mail i can't wait. have v1 at 300KM and they're just butter now. the shoe community has to stop talking about the price it makes us sound out of touch with reality. Let's just think about this, top quality, top durability, top non plate performance and hard to find not to mention the fact that the shoe is made by a company not in all the major bad vibes of today. Why would any product not price themselves accordingly, look at all the claims it can make over the market. At least four times the foam that zoomx is! Zoomx dies in months and lightstrikepro is great but not as fun as the superblast combination. blah blah buy the superblast any version. feels like owning a high quality tools that you can count on. Don't wait just buy them this is the sign you've been waiting lol

I see almost 200 comments after 13 hours of this video being released. That alone says loads about how popular the Superblast is. I missed out on the SB1 because I hesitated several times on pulling the trigger mostly because of the $200 price tag. I didn’t make that mistake with the SB2. It’s certainly a shoe that most runners should have in their arsenal. The amount of miles this shoe can sustain along with the versatility brings the cost per mile down in the end. Love the SB2.

I gave them 80+ miles and had to return them. Painful on my right big toe, Achilles problems on my left leg, and always felt like I got beat up after a run in them. Switched the the NB SC trainer 3 and remedied all of that. Different shoes for different folks.

I, for one - as a certified running shoe geek and connoisseur, believe the Superblast 2 is worth the hype. For me, it has been the most enjoyable running shoe since the Prime X Strung v1. The SB2 doesn't have the PXS's amazing propulsive bounce and initial "wow factor", but it's one of those shoes that really grows on you once you realize how versatile it is and how you could use it for virtually any type of run on road/pavement. And, yes, the SB2 does feel and ride better with more miles. I thought it felt great out of the box but now that I've just hit 100 miles on my white/grey pair, I've noticed a bit of softening with more bounce and responsiveness. I skipped the OG SB because I felt it wouldn't measure up to the PXS and I was kind of put off by reports of how firm it was out of the box and the amount of break-in time needed. The less-than-attractive colorways, lack of availability, reports of below-average traction, and coarse upper also made me decide that I can wait for v2. When I saw that v2 has all the minor yet significant tweaks to the upper, midsole, and outsole, I decided that time has finally come for me to get on the Superblast bandwagon and, man, am I glad I did. In the US, I haven't had any issues getting the SB2. I now have three pairs (Paris, white/grey, and black for the upcoming rainy season in SoCal) and I just ordered another pair. I'll be hoarding the SB2 as I have with the PXS. I run 70~80 miles per week and I run purely for the enjoyment of it. I'm not chasing PBs or have any structured blocks of training that I follow although I do mix up my runs and also run the trails a lot. The SB2 allows me to go out and do a 15~20 mile run at various paces and enjoy every second of it. I just can't say that for any other shoe I can think of and I have many. The only contender for me is the Neo Vista and, to me, it's a distant second as it's a little too soft and bouncy for maintaining a consistent pace over the long runs. Is the SB2 worth the hype? It is depending on who you are as a runner and what you seek out of a running shoe. It can feel firm to some - especially if one is a heel striker. It can feel clunky with the bulk of the midsole. It doesn't do any one thing extremely well. Its propulsion doesn't wow you like the PXS, Cielo X1, and Alphafly 3 or most carbon-plated race supershoes. For strictly easy/recovery types of runs, there are other better options like the Glycerin Max, MagMax Nitro, and More v5. There are more nimble and lower cost daily trainers like the SL2 and Rebel v4. The Takumi Sen and Metaspeed Edge/Sky Paris are better for speed workouts and intervals. All this said, the SB2 can still do all of the above at least competently and handle very long (15~20+ miles) distances consistently and very proficiently. For me, yes, it's worth the hype as it is that one "goldilocks" running shoe that I'll keep and use if someone put a gun to my head and said I can only keep one. Haha. Of course, that would never happen, but it's the one shoe I'd wear and take on a short weekend trip somewhere. Feels and looks great for casual wear and walking. It's what I took with me along with the Neo Vista on a month-long business/personal trip to Asia recently. Shoe of the year for me and possibly GOAT.

Better even than the Prime X for you?! Must be great. (I've just managed to get hold of a pair of SB1 but have broken a rib, so no running for a few weeks... very frustrating).
@alexkhan200016 күн бұрын
@@matthanna1980 I wouldn't say the SB2 is "better" than PXSv1 at what the PXS is best at, which is long tempo/threshold types of runs. I don't think the propulsion and bounce of the PXS is matched by any other super trainer and matched by only a few of the latest race shoes like the Alphafly 3. I just find the SB2 better for all types of runs and the excellent stability is a big factor. I can go at moderate to easy paces with the SB2 and it still feels good and the footing is really solid and stable, which I don't find it to be the case with the PXS. I haven't had stability issues with the PXS but I do have to pay attention more on how I land and when turning corners or going downhill. It just isn't a daily trainer type of shoe. The SB2 isn't as much "fun" as the PXS, but it's still a fun and bouncy shoe that can be exciting when picking up the pace. The SB2's strength is really its versatility and how good it is at a variety of runs and paces.
@matthanna198013 күн бұрын
@alexkhan2000 thanks for your detailed viewpoint. I also find the Prime X a little unstable (I only have the OG though), and it has a fiddly upper, but other than that, they're an extremely entertaining shoe to run in. I've only walked around in my SB (again, OG version), but hope to take them out later this week. Which would you recommend for a moderately-paced long run? This is the area that they appear to overlap the most.
@alexkhan200012 күн бұрын
@@matthanna1980 I'd recommend the SB (1 or 2 although I haven't tried 1) as it's quite stable compared to the Prime X (haven't tried the OG either) for moderate to easy paced runs. The SB's midsole does take some time to break in, especially the OG versions. I thought the SB2 felt great out of the box.

It’s just clever marketing that makes the hype, drop small amounts, put in hands of influencers, make it very hard to get and muggles will do pretty much anything to get a pair… I like mine but today for instance used my Boston’s 12’s for a workout run and boy do I love that shoe, the B12 is imho equally as versatile. We are spoilt right now with all the great shoes available and some suit people better than others we all have different flippers on the end of our bodies 🎉🎉
