Asics SUPERBLAST vs Asics NOVABLAST 3

Just retired my NB3's last week at a little over 300 miles, still great for walking around in though. Got 184 miles in my SB's and I love them and they are superior to the NB imo in all ways except one way. The point of the heel cup by the pull tab for whatever reason is causing me to get a blister on the back of my ankle above my heel, aside from that I enjoy the SB for all running and feel it can be "one pair" of do it all road shoe.

I got the ASIC gel nimbus 25 and Magic speed 2 for $90 each, the sell this year was insane 🍻 .. BUT… they won’t never drop the price on the superblast 💀

Looking to run the Mount Charleston revel, marathon in April. It’s a downhill race and looking for a shoe that would be appropriate for that race any recommendations?thinking about the super blast or meta sky plus

I think the Superblast would serve you well if you’re in the market for a non-plated shoe! Plenty cushioned and very stable. I’ve never tried any asics plated shoes, so I can’t speak on them. I’ve heard great things about them, though.

I really want to try the auperblast but i have the rare problem of needing over a size 13 and they stop there. I do have the novablast and no issues so far.

Good to hear you’re enjoying the Novablast! Hopefully ASICS manufactures some bigger sizes for the Superblast, though, because everyone deserves to experience that shoe!

Both are great all rounder but both are not great at top speed. I would say superblast being light just helps my turn over. I got the superblast at 30% off but it is still quite expensive as I could get a nike vaporfly for that. When I look back, superblast is marginally better when factoring price, ride, durability, performance. Unless I am training for a marathon, novablast is enough

Totally agree. When it comes to price, it’s abysmal, but that seems to be the general market direction for most companies. I find the Superblast very clunky at really anything faster than marathon effort, but it feels incredible at just about everything slower than that.

ThE FF Blast + have some bounce to it..but in the configuration Novablast, it doesn’t work for me at faster pace..it accentuates my right foot pronation that leads to knee injury..never had that problem with any adios before..So I relegate it to only endurance recovery ride . Based on my experience in Takumi Sen..the lightstrike pro is much superior foam..but I haven’t tried any FF BLAST Turbo based shoe for now

Yeah, I don’t pronate too incredibly much regularly but the Novablast has an oddly similar effect on me. And I totally agree, I’d say I prefer lightstrike pro over almost any foam I’ve tried before.

@@HobbyJoggerElite other thing that I also remember..the foam under the right toe/ball of the foot seems to sink and doesn’t rebound/recover it’s shape after 30-40 minute faster run..it might be because I don’t apply force equaly with my right foot during toe off..but that made as if I’m landing in an uneven surface all the time..and relatively relaxed upper fit just worsen the problem…it’s a shame really for a shoe that’s been touted as the best daily and versatile training shoe of 2022

Does the tongue of the shoe bother you? I have the gel kinsei blasts and they seem to have the same tongue. I find that the thinness of the tongue makes the laces feel really tight and unconfortable

I haven’t had any bad experiences with it! I tie my laces pretty tight and haven’t felt any pain or discomfort. Seems like there’s ample enough padding 👍

Ugh I still haven’t picked up the SB but I’m still liking my novablast 3 TR. Are these both the same size for you? The only gripe with ASICS I have is their sizing bc I’m a legit full size down in my Novablast 3 due to the length. Everyone says these run large and their true racers run small 🥴

I find them to fit similarly length-wise, but the SB is much more accommodating in terms of width. I go true to size for both of them, but I do agree that asics can sometimes run a bit long-similar to adidas.

@@HobbyJoggerElite then that tells me ASICS has some serious manufacturing discrepancies on their hands bc i shit you not, my speed 3 in a size 10 is the exact same length as my novablast 3 size 9 😂 I wear a 9.5 in ultra boosts and they fit me perfect. Haven’t had an Adidas running shoe yet but I will likely try the sens and the edge+ here soon.

Im getting mixed reviews about it being a recovery/easy run shoe. So it’s fine for easy days? It wont “try” to have you running faster? NB3 is on sale for $109 but my healthcare discount for Superblast makes it $140. Should I go with Superblast?? Haha

I would call it more of a do-it-all shoe. It doesn’t feel like it’s exclusively made for any one task. One thing I would NOT use it for is top-end speed work. Anything marathon pace or slower feels comfortable in them though, and they’re certainly a great long distance shoe.

If you keep on running you will end up at the Superblast, but it’s ok to start with the nova blast..

As long as you don’t need a ton of forefoot stability in your shoe, I think you’d be fine for the most part in them. They have decent cushioning and are pretty comfortable. The grip is pretty awful on the outsole though, so if conditions are wet, I wouldn’t want to be in them for 4-5 hours!

Absolutely they would, can’t imagine folks on the internet running in the 80’s or 90’s! Champagne nova all the way, it’s hard for me to find a cheaper more capable shoe than the nova for easy to progressive runs.. 75 dollars my latest deal.. Superblast, just awesome, super super duper, and definitely worth the money..
