Glad these guys did this to show just how affected everyone was, both on an individual and collective level.

Wow. You can really tell that they're still struggling. There's awkwardness between them. Resentment, lots of resentment. Broken hearts, and a feeling of not knowing the other person. A feeling of longing, and shame, and guilt, but also gratitude, hope, acceptance, and forgiveness. These guys are doing something special here. They might not even know exactly themselves where they're going as a group right now, but they're doing good things. I wish them all the best, and may they once again build a great friendship as a group.

The court and punishment systems really did these guys a disservice and let everything fester a lot more which was avoidable had they given these people the chance to sort things out and clear misunderstandings. Tim was not a dark and evil person as an individual and identity, he makes it clear he's the opposite than he was in that moment, it was a very dark fundamental area in his life where it went too wrong.

I understand what Nick is saying so much. I too went through an experience which stained people's idea of my identity. There's a lot of pain in going through a traumatic experience and having people constantly talk to you about it and as associate you with it as if it were the only thing you can talk about or the only remarkable thing you've ever been through. You just want to move on and be finally free of that heavy weight, but people won't let you move on. Other than that, I understand the mixed feelings the guys have. I hope they can finally move on and be happy. They deserve it so much. It's so freaking unfair that they have to pay for something they have no responsibility for whatsoever. I admire you guys so much. Lots of love from Spain ❤️

This video is about redemption. I loved that Phil & Nick shared the raw feelings of hatred they had. The fact that those 4 guys can not only sit at the same table with Tim, but forgive him, record a song & possibly continue as a band is beyond amazing. I know there are plenty of cynical people out there who thinks that this is all about money. I'm not going to try & change their mind. If that's how they feel then fine. But if you can watch this video & see the genuine emotions they all showed & think they can all just put it behind them for the sake of the almighty dollar, then I don't think you have a very good grasp of the situation. I won't get religious, but this is nothing short of a miracle. It is a man going to the deepest darkest depths of rock bottom & dwelling there for a long time and then slowly crawling out and rebuilding his life the right way & repairing friendships that seemed to be unsalvageable. The things Tim did should never be forgotten. He should never get a "free pass", but he does have the right to put his life back together & he's worthy of forgiveness. If those 4 guys who he hurt beyond belief & knew him better than anybody can see the change & forgive him, then I'm extremely comfortable continuing to be a fan of As I Lay Dying.

In 2013 I caused an explosion in an apartment building and it resulted in 3 people being burnt (including myself) and about a dozen more almost got hurt, including children. I've done 14 months in state institutions and have had to pay over 10,000$ in fines and restitution.... The person I was back then was not a good person... I was on drugs and had lost my way from everything that was important to me.... The feeling of regret and remorse was so deep and I wanted to be forgiven so bad... I wanted redemption so bad... I almost killed myself several times...i couldn't handle the guilt. I got into more trouble from drugs and I ended up in rehab in Louisville KY, that place changed my life. I found other people just like me and I realized many things about myself... And I began to change. I found a few books that changed my perspective on life and gave me a deep spiritual understanding of this life and people...when I got out of that place, my family seen that I was changed and they forgave me for my actions... They showed me love and they showed me compassion. I have seen so much good in humanity through my process and out of my experience I have learned that forgiveness is Soooo strong.... It can change lives.... I needed to go through what I went through to become who I am now. That is the case with Tim as well.... He had to go through his situation to become a better person...who knows... Maybe we will see it through the music... I'm hoping fore some deep spiritual stuff... I've been a fan for 13 years and I'm not going to stop being a fan now. Love to you guys As I Lay Dying, Tim, welcome back man. I forgive you man and I hope to see great things manifest in your life. This video touched me so damn deep. Watching Nick almost tearing down to pieces was just heart wrenching to say the least, but even after all what happened, the damage, the pain, the remorse, the hatred, they still gave it another chance, one last time, and that alone I think, sends a ver y powerful and beautiful message, that there's always room for forgiveness, and when its genuine, when it comes from the soul, it really makes you free. I for one, will continue supporting these guys, I've never been in a position to judge what happened, but if they carried on, I will be doing so with them, now more than ever. I cannot express how happy I am to see them together again, "My Own Grave" was definitely a cathartic song, for them as human beings, friends and bandmates but also for us as fans, it was the closure we all needed on the matter and a hopeful stance for what's to come. Guys in As I Lay Dying, I was, am, and will be with you guys, enjoying and loving your music, supporting your dreams and goals, I grew up along side you and will continue to do so, I love you all and for the love of God, just keep rocking no matter what, it wont be easy, a lot of people are not so understanding (mainly because for whatever stupid reason they feel entitled to you or whatever), but there's also hundreds, thousands and even millions of people that share my feelings and thoughts about all of you and will always be there to rock by your side, hope these humble and caring words get to you. You guys have been through so much... I've grown up listening to your music and I am so happy to hear you're all back together and finally reunited as friends. It's amazing the transition you guys have all gone through. I can't wait to come down and see you guys as a team again on November 6th in Dallas Texas. I have never been so excited to hear new music from another band until I heard about reuniting from you guys. I feel like I can connect on small level as you guys, a very similar situation happened to me a few of my best friends. I know it was nothing close to what Tim has done, but at least I have a small connection and can understand how you're feeling Tim. Thank you for being honest and proving the people can change.... even if it's from the most extreme circumstances.

But finally hearing tim, and the rest of the bands side, I respect you guys even more. Hearing Nicks words, I’ve never thought they would get back together. Us fans love you guys. I’m so happy Phil and Nick wanted to get this band together. Not just them but the rest. WOVENWAR is awesome too. I’m so happy they came up with what they came up with. I’m soooo glad AILD is back. Again, I’m a huge fan. Make more music. We’re still here!! I respect all of you. I hope you guys read this. I have respect for all of you. But I also want to know, what does tim think of wovenwar :)

Nick's journey just reminds me of how instances (though not to the extent of what he/they went through and are going through) in my own life where I had become blinded by hate toward someone who had done something harmful/wrong to me and my refusal to forgive them, ended up creating my own 'prison.' That so called prison would then manifest itself negatively in me in physical and cognitive ways, but learning to forgive broke me out of that prison. The word 'forgiveness' is thrown around too often, but real forgiveness is messy, raw, not to be taken lightly, and for the person the wrong was done to, is ultimately the most freeing experience if you can get there. Thank you guys for being honest, open, and forthright about everything. I'm sure there's a long road ahead.

I appreciate you all being so vulnerable and open. I just kept feeling that every emotion or thought that was deep, Tim had to insert himself in almost like trying to minimize and move past. He hasn’t changed, knowing your a trigger for pain why would you reach out to a friend on their birthday unless to manipulate and then always make it about yourself. Worrying about defense just solidifies where your priorities always lie, with yourself Tim.

I saw firsthand the damage that Tim caused with his actions, I've known Nick's extended family for ages and they're super close and I saw the pain and struggle to forgive Tim for the evil he'd done...I think we only ever talked about the whole situation once and then never really spoke of it again with Nick's family...So it was painful, but good to watch this and to hear what Nick had to say. I feel terrible for him and have hung out with him enough to tell you, he's truly one of the most genuine and heartfelt dudes. So, as I watched, I told myself, if Nick can forgive Tim, despite the damage it did not only to himself, but Nick's whole extended family (the band would hang out with them whenever they came into town) then I have no excuse to not forgive Tim either. It's weird writing this and realizing that I've held onto resentment to Tim for the pain he's caused my close friends. I'd forgiven him conceptually before, but not in actuality. It wasn't until hearing Nick talk about it in this video that I feel like I truly forgive him, just like he's done.

This is really hard to watch, for a number of reasons. The main one is you can still see the pain and even still some hatred for everything that went down. You can tell this was hard for them to actually finally sit down and let it all out. I love that they did this without any editing. They didn’t try to make this look all happy, they wanted to show us the struggle that they are all still going through, but it also shows something amazing... they are moving forward. To forgive someone for something as horrible as what he had done, is tough. Especially when it affects your life for years and years. I am happy they are coming back, and moving forward. Tim looks so sincere while they are all speaking their mind. This wasn’t made to look like everything was ok, but it still isn’t, you can tell. That is what I love about this video. It’s real. It shows true emotion, which is the staple point for as I lay dying... emotion.
@davidferguson38566 жыл бұрын
They kept referring to "what he did". Say it. I tried to have my wife murdered. Then I will buy your sincerity. Props to Phil for being so honest. Nick, you shouldn't be having to hold back. Say what you mean brother, those tears don't come from no where. Tim, I'm so glad you have come from where you were. I have supported AILD since Frail Words Collapse came out when I was a teenager. Don't hide from your mistakes. Own them. Speak them. Grow. I'm sorry if this sounds harsh, I'm in tears after watching this and as a musician I am heartbroken by you, Tim. I am glad you have made the steps you have to grow. Peace.
