From 191966-1969 I spent my Grades 1 to 3 at Asilo. I still remember one of my Teacher who is a civilian component and very super strict. No assignment a whip with stick to both hands. If the pupil could not answer during the recitations is punished by standing in front of the class humiliated. Back then our tender understanding why Teachers utilized corporal punishment to be imposed on pupils as a form of teaching methodology. The Sisters are most strict that those found loitering during classes are punished to clean the classrooms and alleys. I was one those with another that I can only recall the family name as Vasquez being punished. In these of growth I remember the favorite chocolate sold everywhere inside the campus: Pancho Pantera. In consolation to the strictness of teaching, Spanish nuns will give toys donated from Europe during christmass. During recess the nuns will give free buns a home-made bread which had worms and free milk. But as a kid that needs energy we the pupils just eat the bread and drink the milk. My first Communion was held at the Asilo. One of my classmate was Ernesto Quevedo who later was my classmate during Grades 5 & 6 at University of Southern Philippines Lahug Unit round 15 kms north from Asilo.
