"Don't quit your job, fire your boss" low-key best message I've heard for those who have to quit because of a jerk boss.
@sum1speshul3 жыл бұрын
People don't quit jobs. They quit bosses. You'll happily work an extra 3 hours for that boss who constantly recognizes your abilities but the arrogant a-hole who tells you every day that he could get a monkey to do your job can't seem to figure out why he's constantly replacing workers.

Actually TRID's advice on keeping coworkers from stealing your lunch is pretty close to what I used to do. I would always make home made brownies and they'd ALWAYS get stolen unless I carried them with me throughout the day. Frustrated by this, I bought a couple of chocolate exlax bars from a pharmacy, and made my brownies, substituting the baking chocolate with the Ex-Lax bars. I made sure to only take 2 brownies with me to work. The rest were in a container marked LAXATIVE BROWNIES in the fridge- so no one in the family would eat them. I'd pack my normal lunch, making sure to leave the brownies on the very top in a ziploc bag. For the next week, the brownies would disappear while my salad remained untouched. 😁 That Thursday 2 coworkers called in sick. I wonder what happened to them? Needless to say, my lunch and brownies, we're never stolen again. Btw, those that used to bake the anti-theft cookies using Haribo Sugar Free Gummy Bears, they changed the formula on those. They don't cause the reactions they used to.

I actually have a friend at work that is highly allergic to seafood so everytime someone would warm up any seafood she would feel her throat closing up and would have to use her epi pen. So please keep that in mind everyone. Also, I'm an early childhood development teacher and there was a floater that would come in our classroom to cover for lunch breaks. It was usually during nap. She would come in, get comfortable, take off her shoes, and fall asleep. I didn't snitch. Instead I broke it down to her and said, "#1- I'm not getting in trouble for you, #2- I need you to be alert and ready in case there's an emergency, #3- I will have to say something if it happens again because I will only warn you once." Needless to say, she never fell asleep with me again.

We had someone constantly stealing lots (and lots) of food from the communal fridge at our school accommodation building. Announcements had been made several times at our morning assemblies, asked for the stealing to stop ✋- it didn’t stop. People tried name tags and nothing worked. We couldn’t work out who it was sooooo. My friend made a chocolate cake with loads of laxative powder in the recipe and the icing too. We made sure to cut it in half and also take out a slice - (that way it would be easier to steal a slice without having to cut into a pristine cake). It looked delicious and sure enough (and unfortunately for the villain) quite a large slice was removed and the remaining cake was kind of pushed back together to hide the removal (as we had planned for and also imagined would happen). We timed it all perfectly so that the cake was in the fridge just before we all went for dinner and then EVERYONE would be back at the house for the evening, studying, showering, chatting in their dorm rooms or watching tv. One shower and toilet block upstairs and the same downstairs. We sat back and observed. Within about half an hour of being back from dinner the slice was taken, then about an hour after that it became VERY VERY obvious who the culprit was - it was the last person anyone had suspected and was someone that was, let’s say, one of the more senior students, a prefect, she always did the right thing and was given privileges and responsibilities because of it. She eventually went to the “adult/nurse” that lived in the same building for assistance. (We had, by this time explained the “situation” to this adult). Let’s just say that our cover was never blown, and NO food ever went missing EVER again. The “adult”, when we told her, couldn’t help but laugh although she tried to hide it. Let’s just add that she too had had her own food stolen. Anyway, the laxatives lasted for a few days and she was fine. Moral of the story is - don’t steal your friends or house mates food. Try asking.

In all seriousness about disconnecting from work outside my office hours. 1 adhere to your schedule 2 after work, the work phone gets turned off. The emails remain unread until the next scheduled work period. 3 have a separate area for work. For me I have a small collapsible table my work laptop sit on. At the end of me day it gets pushed out of the way. - This is s small action, but it has a large effect. It's a psychological cue that workplace is over there. It's like a tiny commute. 4 in your mind, leave your work problems at work. Concentrate on your other roles, be it house duties, child rearing, or learning a new thing, or down time, or play time. Whatever you're doing focus in that. I'm sure there are other things possible, but these are the main things.

Okay with the constantly asking what for repetition I got to say that the best advice I can give as an interpreter is go to the audiologist. If it's a problem constantly with one person you can actually discuss it with them but if you're finding this problem all the time you really need to actually pay attention to some slight hearing loss and prepare for whatever might be the cause of it. Just saying even though the answer was funny because it actually becomes quite frustrating overtimes for some people to continue asking what over and over and not realize that maybe their job environment or loud music or something has cause hearing loss so it actually causes an emotional and sometimes physical reaction to the anger so let's look out for each other. And by doing so we have to start with ourselves. When I started asking what several times I went to the audiologist turns out my kid was just mumbling but it was still kind of a scare. Lol. I love it when these questions pertain to something we can all relate to.
