@goldengirljay44787 жыл бұрын
Alejandra Garcia I fully understand and support the point of the video being a curvier woman myself. You're missing my point. People are taking the "regular" part of the title way out of context. In no way does my comment bash any body size it addresses the realism of what "regular" means; common abundant normal ( the literal meaning of normal) and attempts to remove the stigma the word comes with. It's plain and simple that vs models aren't normal. They aren't a vast majority of what women look like. They aren't common. Making them not regular. AND THERES NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT WORD. People see the term not regular and take in derogatory offense when literally speaking it is correct. THAT BEING SAID, not being regular doesn't make vs models any less of a woman to someone who is a average regular everyday woman. They are still strong and valued the same as every other woman but they aren't the standard everyday woman. They aren't regular . And that's perfectly fine being different isn't bad people take it that way and they shouldn't

Nobody said they should be ashamed. They just said they weren't the average woman, which is true. Their job is to look good so they have time to work as hard as they do on their bodies. I'm all for people empowering themselves with over confidence but to be fair, modeling is a job/career for some women and they work hard on their bodies to look good on the runway. Just because certain women are overweight and comfortable with it doesn't mean they should qualify to be replaced by skinny women in a job where it's required to be skinny. I get you're trying to make a point but it's a little reach for this one.

@vivalanina7 жыл бұрын
It's true, keeping your body up to those standards under contract takes WORK. the workout montages during the fashion show aren't there just to be cute. These women train like athletes for their job! Plus there's also runway classes and modeling school to go to. There's a certain way to walk, they have to learn 3 quarter turns to make sure the press get's their shot for as long as they can etc. You can tell experienced models from people just putting on a show for fun by their posture, how low their chin is, if they do a three point turn, and if they turn back on the end before exiting. Some shoots will go on 12 hours a day and they'll want you to do crazy shots in SUPER high platformed heels. I had one shot that took maybe 10 minutes to get and they wanted me to SQUAT in the heels with my legs at 90 degree angles while keeping my spine straight. A lot of the summer photoshoots happen in the winter so they have time to edit them in the spring and rent space for them. So think about those bikini/swimwear ads where people are jumping off cliffs into water, or having waves come up on them. That water is most likely freezing! Not as easy or glamorous as people think.
@gabriellapecci83137 жыл бұрын
Rebecca, for a normal job, people should not be required to look a certain way. But modeling is designed to show off clothes and/or the models themselves. If a company wants people to wear their clothes, you put them on an attractive woman to bring attention to them, that's just how it works. Attractiveness and beauty are not the same. Being "curvy" also doesn't mean being overweight.
@TwiCaCaX7 жыл бұрын
yeah but its a model job. It's like saying oh yes overweight people with no daily workout routine and experience should be qualified for police jobs too because equality. That's not how it works. Some jobs, just requires a particular kind of people. Accept it and move on :D I agree that we should accept all kinds of body shapes, as a society but sometimes jobs are jobs. Requirements are there for a reason or else everyone would get jobs what's the point lol

I hate that there's a stigma around modelling. Sure, some VS models appear to stave themselves or may have admitted to not eating, but I know for a fact that other VS models - Adriana Lima, Lais Ribero - work incredibly hard for their bodies, along with many others in the industry. The fact that people say they are "starving themselves" and "anorexic" or have eating disorders is not only disregarding what they've worked for and body shaming them as well, but also normalizes the mental illness that /is/ eating disorders and makes it seem like it is choice. I love the confidence of the women in this video, but constantly shaming models does not work for me either. I love this video and I think the women in it are so beautiful! This comment is mainly towards some people in the comment section.

I agree with you completely, we shouldn't shame anyone for their bodies whether they're big or small as it does induce eating disorders and makes them become something that is seemingly sought after. However, I think in this video they are just trying to say that they have regular bodies - they don't need to work hard for a 'perfect' body because they aren't in the modelling industry and sometimes that can put people down. The media idolizes thin women which makes it tough for women who don't have (or can't achieve) a body like that. But that stigma of models starving themselves is due to a few years back when that really was what most models were doing and quite a few of them developed eating disorders such as bulimia nervosa. Ever since that downfall from the modelling industry people seem to have latched onto the idea that it is still happening because, after all, we usually aren't informed on anything about their bodies when we see them, we are simply shown a beautiful woman with a body that everyone aims to achieve. But, the models you listed and many others that don't need to starve for their body and have worked hard for it should be shown more and presented more as they can be seen as role models as such because they haven't fallen victim to the issue. Please don't take any of this the wrong way though, I'm agreeing with you entirely :) (Sorry for the long paragraph btw o_o)

You CAN still digitally enhance video. Take Whitney Houston, 2011 Michael Jackson Tribute performance, where they had to flesh out her body to hide how emaciated she was due to drug use. I agree with your original point, though. People are so quick to judge others for their body type and it's sad. A VS model is as much a "normal body type" as Tess Holiday, which there's plenty of both to be found in society these days, and everyone in between. I think what a lot of people misunderstand is the point of these types of videos is not to shame one body type but to help support a universally higher self-esteem. It's not about what a person looks like at all, but how they feel about themselves that matters and low self-esteem is extremely damaging.

Which is exactly why they aren't regular! Yes, Super models are gorgeous, and do work very hard to have their bodies the way they are. They're extraordinary. However, by regular women, they mean women you'd find walking down the streets- Not models that do it for a living.
@Amykilbride19927 жыл бұрын
Rubix The Cube : this still doesn't do anything for this stigma of 'then vs us' people are people. buzz feed is more about ratings than promoting normality and videos like this get views because it lures people into to thinking they are 'empowered' by being regular and looking like a Vs model is a myth when regular women could very well look like them if they put the work in.
@micah27857 жыл бұрын
Please use grammar. I'm not trying to be rude, but I can't read a thing you just posted. The video never said ANYTHING about models being bad- Just that they all promoted a singular body type, one that is nearly unachievable. Of course Buzzfeed is doing this for views. All major companies do everything for views. Welcome to KZbin. And there is no stigma against models. At all. They're seen as perfect, and everyone wants to be one, so what's the harm in promoting normal, healthy body types?

I'm all for body confidence, but nobody can say that Tess is a healthy weight. I'm not saying she isn't beautiful, but from a medical standpoint she needs to lose weight.

heku72 she literally said she's not obese she's just overweight
@joxiigirls82017 жыл бұрын
In all fairness she probably should but I suppose if she's happy like that then I think she should be what size she likes. After all, it's better to be big and happy and die young than thin and depressed and die old and the same can be said vice versa. I just think as long as people are happy they should be free to express what they like. And hey, although she is that size she's become a major inspiration to a lot of young girls and women all around the world. I think it's impressive.

Yes, again I'm all for body positivity but EVERYONE has insecurities. Not just overweight people. Every single one of those beautiful girls were going outside their comfort zone. Not just the overweight ones.

Cassi Cow I think the main reason is because curvy/plus size women are not prevalent in mainstream media; thin people, especially those built like fashion models, are usually looked at in a more positive light.
@ilmgfsm7 жыл бұрын
agreed, BUT the media only portrays one body type, and it isn't the heavier type. people are used to seeing the slim girls.

models that walk for companies like chanel do have weird looking faces, it's weird how their faces are counted as unique but they're actually unattractive. vs models are nothing like that tho

Being a size 0 myself, I’ve had my share of body-shaming. When I was a teen, I’ve been told by no other than relatives and family friends that I’m just clothes on bones and I need to eat otherwise no one will love me or would want to marry me in the future. I would always get such comments especially during weddings and engagement parties to the point that I hated myself more than the people that told me so. I lost confidence in myself and always looked down when I walked. I don’t starve myself, I eat what I want whenever I want and I love food so much, I just don’t gain weight, these are my genes. I moved countries to Canada and within one week, I got complemented so many times because to them I was pretty. I found out about Victoria’s Secret and I wasn’t so enthusiastic about them either (I thought models starve themselves) but after following them, I realized these women eat what the want but also workout to maintain their amazing bodies...they gave me even more confidence in myself and I started walking straight with my head up high knowing that this is how I was born and I’m beautiful as long as I believe in it. It all depends on the way you look at VS and their models...I myself, like to look at them as inspiration for me to take care of myself, others look at them as if they are there to bring other women down. It doesn’t matter what your body shape is, you’re beautiful just believe in it, take care of yourself and change your perspective of these models cause they work hard too.

I too have everyone telling me i have to eat more to get some skin on my bones.. It's very annoying tbh.. I get pissed off and don't speak to them anymore😂 i don't eat so much anyway.. I just wonder why people can't leave me and my body alone.. It's not their problem to begin with

Honestly, I would buy more stuff from a company that had actual normal models I mean yes we should have skinny models, average models, plus size models, and everything in between because then you can see what would look good on you. I hate the whole society thinks we should be stick figures thing, because honestly I think we are now seeing beauty in every size as long as they are healthy and happy!

Models are supposed to be clothes hangers. They are supposed to display the clothing and show how it looks. They aren’t supposed to be attainable or realistic for most girls.
@Daisy-kg4ho6 жыл бұрын
It would still be nice because when you look at thinner taller girls you don't wanna buy the clothes, because you don't know how it'll look on your body type.
