I respectfully disagree with the be "happy" portion. Find something that fulfills you. There's a distinct and large difference. Be sure that "being interesting" also puts food on your table.

Do something that you're naturally good at, and fits your personality. All jobs are the same - you deal with annoying people and annoying customers (whatever the field is, regardless of whether you're the boss or not), so you may as well get paid well for your talents.
