1:44 same thing happened to me. My father was regretting to take Science in his educational career. He enforced me to take Bio major not only once, not only twice, but thrice, 8th grade, 9th grade, FSC part 1 respectively. He wanted me to become a neurosurgeon. That's why, I understand this guy feeling. First of all, I wanna ( American way to say thing "wanted to") commit suicide because of pressure of getting first position in the class consistently. I remembered when I got 88% FSC part 1 at Karachi, my parents be like 90% ku nhi ai teri (why you didn't get 90%). Because of that type of pressure and torture, I almost left Islam. Thanks to Almighty Allah who guided me to study Quran which saves my life because it's promote critical thinking, not materialism and blind following. After all, I fought 6 year "cold" war to convince my parents to do engineering because it's a field of science too. Now, I have got freedom of will after coming to USA. He even pressured me in USA to study medical, but I replied, can you lend me thousands of dollars. Then, he had to be quite. I have concluded from my experience we can't never satisfy parents ego. If my parents force emotionally me to study at Berkeley (one of the best university in California) unlike Davis (which is close to my home), I won't because I don't want to take loan with "interest" which is prohibited in Islam. I'm okay with your advice, but there are issues in your basis. I suggest you spend some time with economists and ask them about the rate of job creation and its comparison to rate at which colleges are producing graduates. You will find that the demand for jobs is much more than the supply for jobs. And when 1,000 people are fighting for a single job position, then the 1 person who gets the job is not respected (often told 'tere jaise hazaar ghoom rahe hain') The problem lies in the economies of South Asian Countries - there's a huge demand and very limited supply of pretty much everything - be it infrastructure, be it colleges, hospitals, roads, bridges, power plants, factories, manufacturers, etc. As a result of that there is corruption - people with power and means have advantage over those who don't. If supply equaled demand then everyone will get most things without a struggle - people will get access good education, people will start working at a younger age and have a stable careers, people will have better retirement plans and so on. There won't be reasonable advantage you can get by paying a bribe then. The lack of jobs is the reason why people keep studying until the age 30 and still can't find a respectable/stable job. Education industry knows this and has turned it into a business as if it is the person's fault that he has not done post graduation and then MBA, etc. Everyone is teaching you how to find a job that 1,000 others want and won't get. The reason why in the West (or advanced economies) people start working at 16 is because they have enough jobs, there workforce is aging, so a lot of people retire and have to be replaced by their successors. So your advice is not practical. It might work in rare cases for someone or in cases where jobs are coming from outside of the country. But on a broader scale, unless we create new jobs from within the country and fast we are heading for a disaster.
