I'm so glad that someone asked about the pauses. Kenny might think it's a weird question, but the tutorials would lose so much without his unique pacing. Maybe he just does it for clarity, but it makes learning a fairly complicated program feel easy and relaxing.

Kenny's format is absolutely superior online training. It's clear, direct, quiet and gets to the point very quickly in a calm, pleasing manner. Reaper is a complicated software that becomes more complicated with each new version. Kenny is one of the things that makes navigating this DAW with the least frustration.

I was in the boat of " Man, these tutorials are so simple and concise, but fucking hell, what the hell is up with those pauses when he speaks?!" Then in his 100k special video he explains why, and then my ignorant ass realised that THAT why I can follow them so easy; it's presented in a format that my dumb ass can follow. Working for REAPER sounds like the dream job! The fact that Cockos invests in having someone like you teach it for free is why REAPER is the DAW of the people. As you said, maybe it'll never be industry standard, but REAPER has made DAWs more accessible/affordable than anything I've seen out there! Folks in the US, UK, Canada, etc. can afford every DAW with relative ease, and therefore have a real choice to make there, but for young people all around the world in the middle east, Africa, and elsewhere, where the dollar is more expensive and wages low, REAPER is quickly growing to become the only good affordable option! REAPER's global reach outside the relatively small industry, will outgrow other DAWs over time and also help people who may not even look at audio as a career still able to express themselves. Also in Game Audio, REAPER is definitely one of the many industry-standard tools imo. Thank you all for creating the DAW of the people :)

i think people in underdeveloped countries lean more towards warez, not only because they're free but also because the options to pay for license may not be readily available due to, again, underdeveloped financial infrastructure, the hassle of payment may just be a real PITA

Not retired yet but getting close. Not a great musician but have really enjoyed learning about recording myself through Reaper and Kenny's videos. I always search his videos first before I go anywhere else. And the videos are short and to the point so it's easy to watch one or two while on a break or eating a meal. Thanks Kenny! Great stuff!

Reaper is fantastic isn't it? I have used most DAWs over the years. Reaper is the one WhiteLakeDan, and yes Kenny was one of those who made my transition from other DAWs all the more easier. Got me up and running quickly. Reaper is my favourite DAW. It isn't the prettiest sure, but functionally. It is the one! As a developer I also find it a fantastic environment for debugging my own plugins. It is just the best swiss army knife DAW that there is. You cannot go wrong with Reaper. :D.

I've been mixing and recording since the early 1980's and used Pro Tools for the better part of 20 years. Reaper is a godsend because it makes creating art EASIER without the frustration of increasing expenses for gear, software and navigating the proprietary minefield music tech has brought on. Usually when I recommend Reaper for someone, one of the (many) pros I emphasize is that it has well made tutorials, also that "WATCH THESE FIRST" playlist is a lifesaver for a beginner. Kenny I came from Cubase everything was money. They nickel and Dimmed me to death. Tutorials, Upgrades, Etc. Reaper was the best move I everr made. I can not thank Justin, Shiva, You and others on the reaper team for all the goodies that come with reaper. I am not encouraging anyone to do this but for me I really appreciate the timer after the 30 day trial on Reaper it gave me time to learn how to use it and if it would work for me while I was switching from Cubase to Reaper. Thanks for the insight to your work. I have turned to your videos many, many times to search for answers, and your tutorials are always spot on. In addition to music, I am involved with documenting a web cam of a peregrine falcon nest in Wilmington, DE. Three years ago, when I was just getting started with Reaper, I thought I heard peeps from the falcon eggs, even though they hadn't hatched yet. The nest box is on the top floor of a high rise building, and the noise from air conditioning, etc. interferes with sound from the web cam. I thought, "how can I get rid of the noise" and turned to your videos. Of course, you had the answer. I pulled a .wav file from the video, and with the help of ReaFIR and your guidance I was able to reduce the machinery noise to a level where the peeps could be heard. All of the people who watch the web cam were astounded when I posted the video and they could hear the unhatched eggs peeping. The group now uses a Facebook page (Wilmington Falcons), but The first posting of the peeps was on KZbin. kzbin.info/www/bejne/iZXSYZqearhmd8U

I've participated in some TDPri (Telecaster Discussion Forum) discussions about who uses what DAW, I was impressed that at least among musicians, Reaper keeps coming up and is recommended as frequently as the ProTools, Logic, and Ableton DAW's. Don't ever change the way you talk with pauses, it helps me a great deal in learning what you teach. So many others talk too fast without breathing & one can't capture all that's been said. It's as though your pauses allows or gives us a chance to think about what you've just said each time & therefore it sinks in, so never stop this method of yours Kenny , it's so highly appreciated. 1) google reaper forums, go there, browse the forums you like 2) create a login if you don't have one 3) log in 4) either click the new thread or 5) click a forum topic, at the bottom you'll see a "post reply" button, click that, type stuff in the message area 6) when you're done typing click submit reply.

Your pauses are what told me how much you cared about what you do and how you are received. I've been 'trying' to record for over 30 years and yes, I started with Cakewalk and moved on however, I finally learned of Reaper and have never looked back. So much packed into what essentially is free for the using. Yes, I donated and have a license. Until discovering you, the frustration of the multitude of details required to sound good, were beyond my attention span. I am a guitar player/singer/songwriter for 50 years now and I have been looking for you and Reaper for decades. Thank you so, so much for your superb tutorials. I have scrolled through and watched most of them however, there is one you don't seem to have in your list and probably for a good reason that I am not aware of however, if you ever see your way to providing it, I'm sure it will be well received. I often record vocals and guitar simultaneously in a single take. Though my timing is usually fairly accurate, sometimes there are spots where I detect issues. What can be done to adjust (quantize?) a single take of audio to better match the metronome? Your assistance is most appreciated. Fan For Life!

Kenny, my friend, I recently switched from using Reason to Reaper. You saved my life with this video on automation: Quickly Finding an FX Parameter (Automation) in REAPER. I had really grown accustomed to simply right clicking a parameter and choosing to automate that specific parameter. Using the "last touched" approach in Reaper is essentially the same thing in a slightly different way. Thank you for this, and for all of your tutorials! The Reaper Mania series, along with reaper Stash and the forums are great selling points for Reaper in general. No other platform has anything as in depth as that. Also, I have to say that ive never heard a speaking cadence quite like yours. I used to think it was something that you had worked on but now i see its not. Kind of amusing but instantly recognizable to me. Thanks for the work you have done for this amazing platform.

Hey Kenny, congratulations on 100k subs and on your excellent content! I moved from Sonar to Reaper about 10 years ago, and I've never looked back. Your videos were a BIG part of flattening my learning curve. I love your advice at 5:20 about just learning what you need when you need it. That is the approach I took, and still take. It's just great to know that whatever problem I need to solve, I can almost guarantee you've done a video about it. Truly amazing - Thanks again!

Reaper and you Kenny really saved me when I was drowning in another DAW. I have found it so much easier to learn initially and then gradually build up my knowledge.

Kenny, nice job in your delivery of the ins and outs of Reaper vids. I'll have to echo what someone says below...the mechanics of the delivery is perfect. cadence (pauses), explaining the subtle details of recording. When I need to learn something I go directly to your channel. It's like I get the feeling you developed the software. I know you didn't but man they picked the right guy to show us how it's done. I bought into Reaper a little more than 10 years ago and have not looked back. I use it where I work instead of what I'm given. By the way I'm a 40 plus years veteran radio guy (still working) as production director for a radio corporation. Reaper can handle anything I throw at it...music beds, VO, SFX...The company I'm with uses Adobe Audition. I'm familiar and tried just about every DAW out there. My first introduction to digital recording was with SAW Plus (1995). I also have a side gig in voice over and voice pay-per-click spots and drop in tons of 800 numbers ( I might be one of the best know unknowns) and musician (since pandemic I've been working from home studio) so Reaper has become even more relevant. Thank you very much Kenny for all the great videos. I still use some other DAW but only for composing. Reaper is my main DAW for 4 years now. I never regretted the move.

Hi Kenny that was awesome thanks so much for the AMA. It was great to hear about you and your work with Reaper. I was a Logic user since the early days when it was CLAB Creator (and then Notator) c 1987. I switched to Reaper 2 years ago and haven't looked back. Now when I fire up Logic I can't believe I was able to do anything with it! I dont use 90% of what Reaper has to offer I just use what I need and as I need to do different things I look for resources like your videos. Thank man!
