I'm a 61 year old midwest paddler and can't get to the ocean without a lot of driving, because of that most of the races around me are flawater or downriver grinds. As far as paddling hours, I agree with you, 10 hours a week and a mix of 50/50 interval training is close to typical for me as an older paddler. I'm close to an average 12k/hr paddler depending on the length of the race. 12k/hr average in a 5k and 11.5k/hr for lengths over 10k. My big race this year will be the Chattajack in OC1. Great podcast. Thanks for the tips.
