This was super helpful. One thing that keeps me from ordering the press is there are so many choices of rivets and grommets, I get overwhelmed and don't know what to order. I had asked this a few years ago - then broke my arm and never followed up on it. I have several dies. I have no clue what size they work with. is there some type of chart that can help me make sense of what I have? do I need to just take a rivet and put it in and then measure it? at least I kept the tops and bottoms for each size together.

yeah there are next level spacers you can get to fill spacing around a die like plastic or if you get a die that is too wide to fit in the hole you can always machine by trimming it down in a lathe, milling machine etc.. if you have access to one. None the less easier to just get what fits but the spacers and milling can just alter the die sets to fit the press if you would go so far to do that.

I purchased the rivet press and also a couple of rivet dies in various sizes, but what I'm having an issue with is knowing which size is which? they werent' marked on the die and the packaging had been marked with a marker that faded. any suggestions on figuring out which is what size? once I can determine that - I can mark the container they're in. the other question I have is on putting in rivets that have a pearl head or gem head. can I use the standard rivet die in the correct size to install those or do they require a special die?

What brand of rivet press is this in your video? It looks like QWORK which we found on Amazon for like $56. But the only kind of riveting we want to do right now is double cap riveting and we can't tell if this particular press does double caps.

You should sell a set with the rivet press, the most common dies and the most common rivets/grommets that you use all in one neat case. It's the only way I would buy one :)..... it's so crazy to navigate and source all the different dies that fit the rivet press and the rivets/grommets that you want!

So, I have what I believe to be the same Rivet Press. When I used the hole-punch on 9 oz leather, the debris got stuck in the punch & won't come out. The vendor was Not helpful in how to deal with this. Do you have any suggestions that will do the job, & not use up my entire day cleaning debris from the punch One Hole At A Time (15min.s or more each!) ?

Have you ever used the crystal rivets with this machine. I'm looking to use for designing dog collars, leashes, etc. I wanted to know if this hand press would be good to use. Where did you purchase it from?

i bought a package of 15 large crystal rivets and used on a purse front as flower centers. package was $5 Canadian. i did them with a manual rivet press and they were fine. tricky part was the cutting of the hole.

could you clarify what size hole you need to make for the double cap rivet? I thought you said - the hole was larger than the die? I just got my press and found a die for 8mm rivets. I don't (and couldn't find) the die for punching the hole, but I did have the tool that comes with the manual rivet setter and used that. I also had forgotten that when you use the press - the half of the rivet that goes into the bottom die part - is the half that has the stem....the other part (the cap) goes into the top. once I figured that out - it worked easily and as hard as I tried I could not pull the riveted pieces apart. (just an experiment lol) since I find the dies so difficult to find - and would like to use it for other things as well as the capped rivets - I think I'll just order another press that comes with the eyelet dies in 3 sizes. they seem to run about $35 on EBAY and come with grommets. what I don't know is what to use should I decide to add decorative rivets? could you exlain that in more detail? as well as the size hole you should make which corresponds to the size rivet you're installing? thank you.

KAMSnap presses CAN be used for grommets, rivets and other situations as well.... You just need an adapter which you put any of the dies in. love my KAMSnap press!!

I emailed that guy (or I think it was that seller) and he said that his won't do rivets - only grommets. here is his response: NO.For our this item,it just a buckle machine and it equipped with interchangeable dies in 3 sizes (#0:1/4", #2: 3/8'', #4:1/2'') to meet your different needs.

ssarge2 it is the same machine. The seller is confusing or interchanging the terms "rivet and grommet". More than likely a California based seller who is Chinese and doesn't speak English as a 1st language.

did your press show that it was a grommet setter as opposed to a rivet setter? the only rivet presses (listed that way) show coming from the UK and they are around $150. I just can't find any listing anywhere that shows they install rivets. and none come with dies for that purpose. I do find quite a few grommet presses but what about the dies? none are ever listed. only grommet dies.

I did find a couple on Ali Express and they weren't terribly expensive (under $10ea = free S&H) but you have to wait a long time. If you find a place to purchase not ony the rivet dies, but also the hole punch - could you post back? I find them VERY hard to find. I bought the press and thought it came with grommet dies - but I was mistaken........I'm tempted to just buy another press that comes with the 3 grommet dies and some grommets because by the time I buy those - I'm almost at the cost of the machine. I could set one up for punching holes and perhaps another size....

Minkus Margo has been selling these for years and if their website is for sale its probably because they don't need it as everyone purchases from their Etsy site. I think you can feel sale purchasing from them due to how many years they have been established. Everyone that I know that owns a machine like this got theirs from them.

It is NOT a Rivet Press. Why would you call it a Rivet press when it obviously presses GROMMETS??? Rivets and Grommets are 2 totally different things.
