Sheepdog McClaren from Razor. The screams on Violent Restitution (especially the one at the start of The Marshall Arts, an instrumental song!) are harshest, loudest mist metal screams you'll ever hear from an 80's thrash band. And he was able to pull them of live too.

I would say Patton as well, but I'm a bit of a fanboy, when it goes to him. But it's closely follow by Mikael Åkerfeldt - he can do those crazy vocal changes.

Motorhead is rock n' roll.....lemmy always started his shows off with, "we are Motorhead and we play rock n' roll!" Ironically i did see them at a metal festival....but damn hearing that live gave me the chills
@kevinw86884 жыл бұрын
Don't get me wrong, like any self respecting metalhead I love Lemmy, but he's really not that great of a vocalist. To say "he's my favorite" is one thing, but for raw vocal talent Lemmy doesn't rise above Halford, Dio and Dickinson on that level. That said if I was gonna start an all star band that ole' boy would be on the list. RIP Maestro.
@willemdejong90184 жыл бұрын
@@kevinw8688 yeah i get where you are coming from but you have to think about the influence he had. His more 'extreme' vocals influenced almost every other band that came after him. Without lemmy there wouldnt be a metallica, megadeth, slayer or thrash metal in general. Thats why i was suprised that nobody mentioned him because he is kind of the 'godfather' of extreme metal
@kevinw86884 жыл бұрын
@@willemdejong9018 I hear you. Most influential I think Lemmy and Motorhead are way up that list for sure. I was just on vocal depth and range. Yes, Lemmy certainly influenced people, but I think it was his music , delivery and attitude and not just raw vocal chops.

When this question comes up, I always think of Dio, Halford and Diamond first. And many of these interviewees seem to agree. I am also a big fan of Mike Patton and agree that his range is incredible; I`m glad to see that it was acknowledged here.

Godamn right Thy Art is Murder guy... I don't listen to your band but tip of the hat for the Patton shout out. Dude is like the Mark Zuckerberg of metal... He's the richest in vocal range, and goes on stage in a white T-shirt and sweatpants and steals the show. But then again, this question is like asking what your favorite band or movie is... there's no way it shouldn't be framed as a "top 5" question.. It's just unfair: 1. Mike Patton 2. Bruce 3. Halford 4. King Diamond/Devin Townsend tie 5. Hetfield

My top 5 : 1- Bruce Dickinson _( Iron Maiden )_ 2- Suzuka Nakamoto _( BabyMetal )_ 3- Rob Halford _( Judas Priest )_ 4- James Hetfield _( Metallica )_ 5- Corey Taylor _( Slipknot )_

Not even a contest! I'm one of those who still like Metallica, but you can't match them with any band at that time! Dio, Halford and Mustai...oh wait, Ozzy, were all great but James was like a TNT exploading in your face from start to finnish at the time. I can't imagine how awesome it must've been to see them live in the late 80's...
