Pain can be a part of life with Parkinson’s. There are different types, which have different causes and treatment options. Rachel Dolhun, MD, movement disorder specialist and vice president of medical communications at The Michael J. Fox Foundation, discusses how to recognize and manage pain in Parkinson’s.
The "Ask the MD" series is intended as an educational resource for people with Parkinson's and their loved ones. Please consult with your personal healthcare provider to address individual medical questions.

The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research is dedicated to finding a cure for Parkinson's disease through an aggressively funded research agenda and to ensuring the development of improved therapies for those living with Parkinson's today. www.michaeljfo...

I have been getting dystonia in my feet, toes and legs for over a year now. But I have been turned down to see a neurologist twice now so don't have an actual diagnoses. I work full time most times with little or no sleep. I feel I'm not being heard. My Dr has never heard of dystonia or even chilblains. I'm in New Zealand and health system is terrible. I'm so tired.

I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease May of 2021… I’m 52 years old and move like an old man, I’m in constant pain. It’s a daily struggle for me and I’m no longer happy.

@@WECOOK1969 I’m very sorry for your suffering. My husband has Parkinson’s. Lately he has had chronic pain in his lower back/hip area. Do you experience anything like that.

@@WECOOK1969 gosh I can only imagine. Before my husband’s diagnosis, I just thought that Parkinson’s meant you had a tremor in your hand or something. I didn’t realize that it was a much deeper disease that affects you from head to toe and gives you symptoms that you never would have imagined. I don’t have the disease myself but Ive watched it with my husband, and like you said, he could write a book or I could write a book for him. I’m so sorry for everyone who is suffering from this awful disease. 🙏💕
