Bannix! Desitin helps block the moisture too. With these two I've cleared up a pretty stubborn case of scratches.

Please can you do an episode on sweet itch, it's causes and the best way to prevent/treat it

I live in Southern California and have a chestnut mare who sprouts fungus and mild scratches in the summer, which can lead to cellulitis. The best luck I have had is anything with the active ingredient Benzalkonium Chloride. I have used, Corona Fung-a-way and Mane N Tail Medicated shampoo with pretty good luck. I either wash her legs 2x a week with the shampoo or use the spray as directed. I hope maybe that helps someone.

My sister's mare came in from the pasture the other day with a black tongue. She seemed fine and it didn't bother her. But no other horses at the barn had it. I did a little research and many people said it happen to their horses when they were first turned out on grass in the spring. In fact everyone said that. This happen to my sister mare in late summer after she had been out a grass for several months. No one seems to know why this happens at all. Do you know? Is it or can it be a sign of an infection? #askthevet
