Just wanted to add onto the name question hafeez got or we’ll to the answer he have.. I think ppl tend to forget that there are Muslims who aren’t Malay.. so like my family is originally from india so a lot of our culture over laps with Indian things but still we are Muslims so u know there are somethings which aren’t the same with other Indian religions at all 😋 so like for my family atleast this generation most of my cousin including me don’t have our fathers name in our name

I love this series!! Totally agree how we need more of these conversations to create better understanding of one another in SG but I was hoping that the crew can be a little less PC. For example, for the first qns on the number of children in Malay families, instead stating saying how it’s untrue right away, perhaps examples can be stated, explaining why Malay Muslims families tend to have more children! (Loved Hafeez explanation!! 🥰) And on the qns on the ethnic costumes, there’s also a need to address cultural appropriation and to what extent the other party could be making fun of the race/religion - I’ve seen individuals who aren’t muslims making fun of the hijab and draping random towels over their head and saying how it’s hot and unnecessary 🥲 I think not being PC helps us to truly understand one another, and to even have the space to agree to disagree. But its a good video nonetheless!! 👍🏻 Loved Sangee’s speech at the end!!!

I'm a filipino that grew up in SG my whole life. One thing I sincerely love about SG is the mix of races and religions here and how everyone just gets along(of course, it isn't always but most of the time). I'm so lucky to have been able to witness and join in the festivities that come with racial harmony and it is so wholesome. I genuinely wish this would go on forever because I feel like it makes Singapore what it is and is one of the many things that makes Singapore unique and beautiful. I'm so proud to call Singapore my home.

I'm loving this series bc I'm learning so much!! As a Singaporean living overseas I'm always trying to explain who we are and I've had endless conversations trying to explain race vs nationality. One memorable question was, "are people from Malaysia Malays then?"

For the Muslim names part, many people do not know this but Siti is a short form of Saiyidatina which is sort of like a respectful way of calling someone (for a guy, it’s Sayyidina). In early Islam, people call one Sayyidatina when she is truly respected for her character for e.g. Sayyidatina Fatima (the daughter of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon Him)). As for Nur, Nur is light in arabic hence, many parents would want their child to radiate light and be a form of goodness to others.

We need Racial Harmony Day for adults, the nostalgia is too much and adults make up most of the population anyway why only let children celebrate it 😂

Wow, Deeparaya is interesting! Can TSL consider to just do a video of Shawn and maybe others with some filippino background to share more about the filippino culture? it would be applicable for International Friendship Day, just almost like racial harmony day! so educational for singaporeans, hearing from them!
