Coils, track bar, Sway bar ,Fox reservoir, King damper , all by Thuren on my 2016 Cummins dually with 22.5 . 50 psi front 45 psi rear. The ride is killer on the highway. Stiff around town.
@CJCOffRoad4 жыл бұрын
You didn't mention tire size or type, but my guess would be that you're running commercial tires on a 22.5 wheel set up. Those tires ride horribly and no suspension can ever make up for it sadly. You also have to remember that this suspension is designed to ride nice AND tow. It will never ride like a 1500 truck unless you completely give up your towing ability, so you'll always have some sacrifice. If you still aren't happy though, talk to Thuren about making some changes to your shock tuning!
@yantardif23634 жыл бұрын

I have a 19 Ram 1500 4WD, and also have 35" tires on a 18x9 Rim. The tires will fit and only minor plastic trimming is required. New UCAs are mainly required if you lift beyond 3" in the front. New UCAs are a benefit for better angles if you can afford them, but not necessary at 2.5".

My question is with the 295 tire being a 35.1 tire x 11.6 wide vs the 37 which is really a 36.5 x12.5...with less mass wont it ride and handle better. Second Q..Any more info on lead time for the gas superduty components vs me having to use the diesel components.
@CJCOffRoad4 жыл бұрын
If you're debating on tires, always go for the bigger size. I can count the number of customers who downsize on one hand, but almost everyone that goes for a smaller size up front comes back for bigger in the end. That truck will handle 37s just fine! As for lead time, expect about 4 months. This whole COVID-19 thing is going to throw a wrench in the supply chain though.

Would I be a fool to buy a diesel for daily driving / commuting and probably never tow?
@CJCOffRoad4 жыл бұрын
Absolutely not. They’re great trucks and comfortable daily drivers. The only catch is that the modern emissions trucks need some highway time with each drive cycle to burn off the soot in the DPF. If you only have a 5 minute city commute, a diesel truck isn’t the best choice.

I tow a 10k toy hauler to go kart tracks all over the PNW (lots of towing hill and mountain passes). Whats your general recommendation regarding lift&tire size for guys that tow like me?

Since you tow, you can either do a 35, or re-gear for 37s. As for suspension, a Carli level or a 4.5” system with the Carli LT bags would be perfect. We’ll address that topic in a future Q&A though because it’s a common situation!

We never run traction bars since they defeat the articulation and ride quality improvement that the performance leaf springs give. I see Carli has a 3.25 in Lift for the 3500 Air-Assist trucks. This kit is just too much for what I want to do with the truck. I would be extremely interested in just a leveling kit for my 2018 3500 Air-Assist SRW. Something along the lines of; Front Coils, Trackbar, Sway bar, Radius Arm drop brackets, tuned Fox 2.0's all around and then for the rear, I would be more than satisfied with just a block for the airbag and a block for the leaf pack.

Why not compare the King 2.5s to Fox 2.5s lmao.
@CJCOffRoad Жыл бұрын
Realistically they're the same performance wise. Both are top level brands, so what matters is the tuning inside. An untuned shock isn't going to ride well at all, so having something like these Carli custom spec and tuned King shocks is what matters, and Carli simply chose to work with King since they were willing to do the custom tweaks to length, pistons and shim tuning that Carli needed.
@JOHNWAYNE19204 жыл бұрын
Maintenance wouldn't be required if they'd just make the body aluminum or stainless. Companies can't make an entire truck out of aluminum or stainless, it's a stupid analogy. For what King shocks cost there is zero excuse for using cheap steal. Call it like it is.
@CJCOffRoad4 жыл бұрын
Actually maintenance is the exact reason that King uses a steel body. An aluminum body doesn't hold up as well as a steel shock body to the heat and wear generated in thousands of miles of heavy off road use. King has the option to use any material they want, but they choose steel because of its strength and wear resistance in punishing off road conditions.
@JOHNWAYNE19204 жыл бұрын
@@CJCOffRoad I'm certainly no expert on shocks but they do use aluminum in space shuttles, engine blocks, heads, wheels, etc etc. I can't help but feel it goes back to cost. Otherwise all else being equal stainless would be the obvious choice. Then it becomes a question of buying a name vs. Quality. I have no problem paying top price but I want the best built, not the most popular name. Irony is I was sold on your king set up before this video but now I'm leaning towards the fox. I clearly need to do more research. At least with carli you know they use nothing but the best and that's why they are worth the price.
