I understand and some people don't understand. But to everyone else!....remember this!...it's still just another job, even though it is the military but it is just still another job,😂. Trust me!. Don't fall for that trap, yes it is a sense of belonging, benefits, etc., but its onlytemporary still no matter what and who it is that glorifies the military. Toxic leadership/coworkers...not everyone is a true American and mainly a good person. It's still just a job and that is why it is okay, no matter what happens, the organization which is the military, a company from the civilian world will still be around but you won't in either alive or dead or no longer employed, that is why it's okay, still another job, and that is why it's funny and not much of a big issue. Glad I got out of the ARMY, I was a quitter at basic, the people within the ARMY is no good and therefore I did what is best for me and not for anyone else and planning to join the AIR FORCE which is my original plan.

Hey it's getting to the point that I am seriously considering this (Air Force Nursing). I'm almost out of the Navy and I have questions if you can answer them! 1. If you could go back to college right now and start over, assuming you still went into healthcare, would you be a nurse? 2. Do you have options to go down the executive leadership or leadership route as a nurse in the AF? What's that like? 3. Do you have options to do things like AE, CCATT (obviously you do), and other programs? What I mean is, if I joined the AF with like a year or two of ER experience started as a 1st or CPT, could I realistically choose to go CCATT or AE? Or is it way harder than that? 4. Have you seen other providers like NPs or PAs? What is the life like for PAs and NPs? 5. How is advancement and how does that work? You're a CPT so your next rank has like a board right? How does that work? It's a lot of questions but I swear to god I really can't get any info from anyone else. You're like the most helpful. Reddit, AF website, few AFIs, you're like the only guy actually responding. It also seems like from what I am seeing, there are more nurses in command positions. I can only see so much but I never see PAs or NPs in command positions which is interesting.

Hey! Man i'm getting a lot of inquiries from nurses and regular ship mates over from the navy. what's going on over there? 1. I honestly wouldn't start over, I am actually enjoying the fruits of my labor and ALL the relationships i have developed up til now. I probably would have always picked medical because I was naturally good at sciences. The fact that I'm colorblind already took the flight path away from me. 2. You do have options to go down leadership. I've learned that the more that you seek the higher opportunities, the more likely they are to present them selves because we have a high attrition rate in the air force especially with nurses who want to go out and make more money (some times it's not greener on the other side, trust me i've been a civilian nurse. I dont wanna go back) 3. You have all the options you can go to as a medical/clinical nurse. You can either go down the route of AE or ccatt. keep in mind, that the higher you go, the more limited you are to what you can do, so you need to create opportunities for your to grow in other areas (this is what we call multicapable airman; I made a vlog with me being in leadership/admin a while back and it will play a vital role down the line for me when i make Major). 4. I have seen other NPs/PAs. NPs are utilized more in the air force versus PAs. Essentially you will always end up doing a lot of the administrative work of the doctors and some of them are over worked. hence why i don't wanna go down NP route. You have the opportunity to advance your self in this field and it's high. 5. 80% advancement rate to O-4 granted you are doing the jobs necesssary and you go to Squadron Officer School and dont mess up. I hope to have answered your questions! hit me up on IG as well if you have one. I try to check my youtube once or twice a week when i reply to people =)

@@genesis.kts_ You responded really fast. I'll tell you right now the Navy is in a bad spot, but I'm not going to go into too much because it's a lot. Thanks for replying. If all goes well I should be able to start applying to the AF in about 4ish years. I'm basically done with my BSN but I want to get a masters and need experience. Hopefully it goes well. Again thanks for replying you're honestly the only source of actual information I can get on nursing in the AF.

Hey! Found out your channel recently and found it very informative. Air force ROTC and being a cyber operations officer has always been my dream, however, watching your videos I feel your stress lmao. Just wondering if you had any regrets within the military and what would you change throughout your career? What was the main reason for joining the military? and if you can travel back in time, would you take paths toward the military differently or pursue a different civilian paths? I had spoke with a lot of officers lately but I am slightly getting discouraged although been researching thoroughly and still finding my answers to be within the military.

I have no regrets about joining. I knew i was joining the worlds greatest air force. It was always something i wanted to do in highschool, so much i applied to the academy, but didn't get in because of my subpar grades lol. I My main reason is because it was always the goal and i loved being a brat and want the same thing for my kids one day. it doesn't feel like a job to me because im enjoying who i work with and what i do now. If i ever went civilian i would never go back to bedside, at least in the military its tolerable patient care considering i have civilian experience which was heavier. I would go leadership. I plan and intend to leave my nursing with the air force when i retired.

Thank you as always Capt. Santos! I’m inching closer to commissioning as I have one semester left in Nursing School, and they’ll be sending me to Travis for my PCS and Scottsdale for NTP! Question to you is: how do they treat straight up brand new nurses with no civilian experience in the USAF? Obviously as a new nurse they are putting me in med/surg, but I plan to do AE in the long run. Also, I Just wonder how the process goes for climbing the ladder in that regard! Thanks as always
@genesis.kts_
@genesis.kts_ 3 ай бұрын
If you plan on going medsurg, anticipate for 2 years then going AE. I honestly don't think it will matter much especially if you are doing AE in the long run. The competition starts to get competitive once you become a Major especially when you start to get more difficult jobs. regardless, it won't make a difference if you come in with experience or not especially since you will be getting your experience while at travis. You will have a blast!

@@genesis.kts_ Thanks for answering quickly! Also, when do you recommend your junior nurses to go for their Masters while in the AF? I know that having a masters makes you more competitive in the Big Air Force as a whole, but I’m worried about how hard it is on the workload while working as a nurse primarily, and going for that masters. Thank you again sir!!!

Hey Santos, back in 2019 I dropped out of uni as an aerospace engineering student. Since then I’ve worked multiple jobs and I’m now a semi truck owner operator. I want to join the Air Force to gain some experience in both disciplines in leadership and skill development. I know the grass isn’t always greener so I don’t want to go into it with that mentality of false positivity but I mainly want to learn skills and obtain the benefits that can transfer to civilian side. Any thoughts?
@genesis.kts_
@genesis.kts_ 3 ай бұрын
Hey! so i will speak on the experience i have encountered. I have met multiple airmen who were in the same shoes as you and didnt think college was for them. Until they got into the air force and figured out what they were good at or what they were passionate about. The thing about the air force is, you will always have a place where an airman is needed for process improvement and leadership training. That is the beauty of the military. You can ask a lot of mustangs (enlisted who get degrees and come back as officers) that have gone on to go do big things, that they have learned the enlisted politics which have played in their favor because their are things that you learn that I would not learn as an officer. If you pick a career that can transfer, then you will succeed. especially if you pick something flight, medical, engineer, or even stay the long run and develop into a strong enlisted leader. There is no right or wrong answer, just desire in wanting to know what isn't! so what ever you decide i believe it will benefit you regardless in the long run.

Thank you! no, per AFI degree holder needs to be BSN. You will be rated as a tech versus an officer.

that's a hard question to ask because i feel like a i travel a lot as a nurse. If you trying to travel a lot i would say do something mission/flight related. you accrue a lot of flight hours and are always in new places.
