Clearly those teachers have never been to the part of upstate New York where people have confederate flags. They can’t even argue that it’s part of their heritage because they’re from the north. It’s solely because they’re racist hillbillies.

Asiah Kelley so if everyone in the time period is racist but one side of the racist people want to keep slavery (the south) and one side of the racist people want to get rid of slavery (the north) Southerners are still going to roast Northerners for being racist as if they weren’t racist and didn’t want to keep slavery. I’m just saying that I hear a lot of southerners who think the North is more racist but I think wanting to keep slavery intact is more racist out of the two...it’s like they forget that part...

comm744 If you knew anything about history then you would know that the political parties during the time of the Civil War do not exist anymore and are not the same as the political parties today. If you have to compare them though the party of the South (the slavery party as you put it) was the Southern Democratic Party, which is not affiliated with today’s Democratic Party. They had ideologies that more closely resemble today’s Republican Party as they were conservative.

The British promised freedom to any slave that ran away to fight on their side. It is very hard to get an accurate count of blacks on the American side because many were taken to war as slaves to their masters and fought along side them. Others were sent to fight in their master's place. So their names weren't recorded. Historians say that the Rev War was the most racially integrated war prior to Vietnam.

Not dumb at all!! The lady's maid I researched at MV had 6 children. The older children took care of the younger ones, as did elderly women and women doing sit-down tasks like spinning wool. People helped each other. Children had a lot of work to do. They tended the slaves' vegetable gardens and other chores. Children started working for the Washingtons at 10 yrs old, when they would apprentice to learn their job. Pls also remember most masters sold slave children for profit to avoid this issue.

It's more conservative in its verbiage than I expected, but it still gets its messages across exceedingly well through Ms. Lizzie Mae's facial expressions, commentary and gestures. PLEASE keep this going, it's a much needed story that you're telling.

These are fantastic. I love the message behind them and the different facets of both racism and ignorance that are subtly highlighted. These would make an excellent education tool in a history class or an English class. Please keep them coming.

Worth enough to free people from slavery. It wasn’t like in Haiti where slaves rebelled and made their own country. In Europe and in the US, racist abolitionists still helped people enough to get where we are today. Racism may still exist. But slavery, for the most part, doesn’t (unless we’re talking about the underground sex trade).

@@mrsloveydove4579 you'd be surprised.. There is more modern day slavery and human trafficking than ever before. Just because someone is not in shackles doesn't mean they aren't a slave. Loads of people are used for labour and are paid dirt. Not to mention incarceration rates in the US which have doubled since the 2000s. Prisoners which are disproportionetly black and latino are used for "community work" by big companies so that is basically modern day slavery. I reccommend you watch '13th' on Netflix.
