the engine swap is legal in a few states.. the legality of a higher displacement is not so concrete on the online forums but yes its legal to do so.. u need approvals from RTO regional office and also state the new engine number which will be fitted in the car.. 2ndly there are many cases where the body is really really good but the engine is totaled so in that case the new engine from OEM is recommended than rebuilding the same engine so that also is possible.. according to my research some forums say we can swap provided the displacement is same and some say if the ARAI tests are ok then we can go for higher displacement swaps as well.. which is highly confusing but that's the govt we are talking about.. so yeah it is what it is

Yes delhi, don't allow renewable of RC after that and also they don't give NOC to register in another state, but many states allows renewable of RC after 15 years, we have maruti 800 in rajasthan which is 27 years old and still have valid RC
